your stalkera fan of your work and I've been playing a lot with Shyvana. Acording to you we could take drake already at level 4, though it was risky because we would be really low and could die should the enemy come. However, I tried jg after those changes in the jungle at patch 9.23 and I was astonished at how fast Shyvana was growing. Before I would need to take red-blue-gromp and 2 mini wolves to get lvl 3, now I don't even need the wolves and, to make thing more interesting, just farming I managed to be 2 levels ahead of an enemy Rengar. To make it even better, taking the first drake, an infernal drake that was supposed to be the hardest to take, was astonishingly easy and fast at lvl 5. I wonder if it would be that easy lvl 4, but given at how fast Shyvana evolved just by farming (and taking the enemy chickens), is way easy to take 5 before going drake. Now with those changes in the jungle, don't you think that was somewhat an indirectly great buff for a champion that take Dragons with ease such as Shyvana?
Either level 4 or level 5 for first drake seems good to me, Shyvana can do it at either level if she went back already (for example, Hunter's Talisman + Hunter's Machete + Dagger should do it fast and safe). The exact timing of going there in a game is obviously going to depend on your vision, your knowledge of where the enemy jungler is, and whether your bot lane has lane priority. So I should say in the guide that Shyvana is "looking" to take first drake any time from level 4 onwards.
I have aimed to update the guide for Pre-Season 10 fully when the pre-season started on 20 November but there's probably parts that are still out-of-date, if you spot anything specific please do let me know. I also plan to update some of the videos shown, but need to find good current examples of Shyvana play - if anyone wants to suggest a good Shyvana video in comments, please do!
You can also back early - as soon as you have 350 gold - get a Hunter's Talisman and then you can stay healthy in the jungle for a long time.
My name is Willtato and Shyvana was my first ever "main" in League. I saved up and bought her with ip as fast as I could after playing her for the first time. She's just such a badass champion. While I've shifted to more of a mage/marksman player shyvana remains my favorite jungler, bruiser, and sometimes even splitpush focused toplaner.
If this guide taught me one thing, it's that I've been doing this wrong XD. Overall I play shyvana as a powerclearer and counterjungler, but I actually have been going 18/0/12 with a strong emphasis on healthy clears(feast, vampirism, runic armor, warlord's bloodlust) and taking AD marks since I'm still relatively new and dont have a fleshed out rune collection (which I guess I'll never have because of runes reforged.) I'm pretty low elo so my opponents usually don't know how to play against shyvana so I end up stealing their jungle and even getting kills in the process. I also solo a lot of dragons under my enemies' noses XD. Because of this i usually get pretty farmed and can afford to get luxury items like Triforce(which I guess isn't great) and then just slam into enemy champions killing them before they know what the hell just happened.
Other than that lengthy description of how I play this champion incorrectly I'd like to say that this is really a great guide! It's very informative and well organized as well as nice to look at :)
I also have a question. Would Mpen or AD marks be better on shyvana? I know you really cant go wrong with AD but she does do quite a bit of magic damage (especially with cinderhulk/wits end.)
Anyway thanks for the guide. You definitely earned my upvote :)

You're not playing incorrectly, if it works for you then definitely keep on doing it!
But as you gain experience and gain elo, LoL will be matching you more often with opponents who are harder to beat. Once the game gets tougher like that, Shyvana needs to build to maximise her special strengths.
Her special strength (early) is faster clears -> higher levels than opponents. Having +1 level on your opponent is way stronger than any set of masteries, it gives +95 health, +3 armor and MR, and more damage and attack speed, as well as one extra ability point.
The best marks on Shyvana (until the reforged system comes in) are Precision marks.
My question wasn't really what are the BEST marks on her. I know with her hybrid damage output precision is optimal. I just don't have a fully fleshed out rune set so I was wondering out of the two would AD or Mpen be better.
I will definitely keep trying to get better at shyvana(using your guide of course.)Thanks again for the response!
