Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 6.2!

With all the discussion and drama surrounding the release of the New Champion Select system and Dynamic Queue, you'd almost forget patches are still a thing. Still, yesterday saw the release of patch 6.2, and we're here to break it down for you. While a Jhin release is not yet part of the changes introduced (he will be released in the second week of this patch), there's still plenty to talk about, with Shen being reworked, Dr. Mundo, Rengar and Elise receiving nerfs, plenty of new skins being introduced and more.

Following Shen's Champion Update, he is now a pure melee tank, whose objective during trades in lane is to position in a way that allows him to move his new spirit blade through his opponents and gain combat bonuses, while using the shield from his passive and the dodge mechanic of his new W to decrease the damage dealt to him in the process.

If you're not yet familiar with his new kit, mouse over the ability icons below for the descriptions or check out the Shen Champion Spotlight. *Note that we're aware of a bug causing certain images - such as his E and R icons - not to update, this will be fixed as soon as possible.*

Moving on to the other changes, this patch holds a number of nerfs to champions who've been prominently picked in recent times, for example Dr. Mundo gaining less AD than before from Blunt Force Trauma (until the last rank) & receiving a higher cooldown on Maximum Dosage (75 seconds ⇒ 100/85/70 seconds), and Elise losing 5 movement speed in both of her forms as well as 15 damage (at all ranks) on Volatile Spiderling.

Perhaps the most noticeable nerf of all, however, goes to Rengar, who has been changed in several ways to lower his ability to oneshot enemies before they can react. Now, his Bola Strike has a cast time (0.25 seconds) when casting in mid-air, the exclamation mark range of Thrill of the Hunt is higher (1250 ⇒ 1450) and the scaling on the direct damage dealt by Savagery is lower, though he does gain more AD than before from the temporary buff he receives after he hits a target with it.



Item & Mastery Changes




Another patch, another Frost Queen's Claim nerf. With the cooldown on its active having been increased to 90 seconds (from 60) and the competition ( Morellonomicon & Athene's Unholy Grail) being reduced in price (down 150 and 100 gold in total respectively), there might once again be a bit more build diversity for mid laners. The other interesting changes involve the "greedy" starting items Dark Seal (now costs 100 gold less) and Cull (grants 2 more AD and 50 more gold on the final payout) which might do enough to boost their popularity.

As for masteries, the main take-away is that Assassin 's damage bonus has been increased (1.5% ⇒ 2%) but is now exclusive against champions, and Thunderlord's Decree has a higher cooldown than before at early stages while having a lower cooldown later on in the game (20 seconds ⇒ 25-15 seconds depending on level).



Released & Upcoming Skins

Normally, this section only shows skins which have not yet been released, but since Riot surprised us with three pre-patch skins as part of the Lunar Revel event, we'll display those first. Note that two of these three skins are Legacy skins which will be retiring at the end of February 8, so make sure to pick them up before then if you're interested.

The four skins displayed at the bottom will be released at a later date (within the next two weeks).

I'm warming up to the Shen update slowly. I still think the tether range and speed at which it moves towards you is so clunky and aggravating. Other than that, he's probably broken as hell.

Rengar's changes weren't only nerfs. They also buffed his bonus attack damage.
