Hello Everyone, I am Zileni and I wanna share my experience with Ekko, the Boy who Shattered Time. I played this champion back in 2019, and he was actually one of the first champions I almost considered maining. I now main Zilean, and sometimes play Ekko in scrims. Who is Ekko exactly? He is an AP Assassin who uses time related abilities that have great outplay potential. He can also easily one shot any squishy if you are fed enough, hopefully this guide will teach you on how to do that, and get mastery 7 in the progress! I have all my matchup notes and build notes on the top if you wish to learn about them.

Ekko is a really enjoyable experience, even if you first time him it's a lot of fun. He has some great skins and like I said, his outplay potential is huge. He can be really flashy but he is pretty hard to master. Ekko is always fine in the meta, I don't think there was once in a time where he was too broken or too weak. He has a small pick and ban rate and you can easily climb with macro, and even your mechanics which can decide the factor of any game in the late game! I think one tricking this champion is a really good decision because you will learn every matchup specifically, and you do not have to worry about getting banned or picked.

Combos can either be pretty situational to pull off in-game, or used for trading. Really it's about knowing when to use it in the right time and here I have a list of combos that are good in any situation.

Simple Trading Combo
Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
Reliability: ★★★★★
To do this combo, I get level 2, instantly level up my E and go in. This works with many champions and it is really unexpected!

Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆

Basically if you land the stun, your guaranteed to get the kill unless the matchup is unfavored.

Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Reliability: ★★★☆☆
Ekko can easily burst someone if you get a W off them, while remaining safe from other people as well with the shield. Here, we get out of vision in the Mid Lane, jump over the wall and burst down the enemy. This is really good for champions like Ryze who usually would want to push in his wave while standing still.

Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Reliability: ★★★★☆
This one is pretty easy to pull off, W yourself and Zhonyas at the same time. People are gonna be on top of you whenever you are in stasis allowing you to get your shield and stun, and not only that your ultimate ghost on top of you to kill everyone.

Leveling R Up In a Pinch (IMPORTANT!)

Reliability: ★★★★★
If you have one combo to take away from this guide it would be this. Can be extremely reliable if you master it. You basically don't level up ultimate once you have the point for it. You have to know where your ghost is if you leveled it up, because once you level up the ultimate up your ghost will appear 4 seconds from your last position. This is REALLY good for outplaying someone!

Animation cancel can be important on Ekko depending on how you see it. If you are in the higher elos, this may do you well since people know what your W animation looks like. They will usually fall back once they see you E so predict your W while you do the animation cancel.

Saint Killian is probably one of the best Ekko one tricks in the world. This small combo created by him can help you out in a pinch. If you don't understand, this basically makes it so while your going back in time, your W still works.

One-Shot Ultimate

Reliability: ★★★★☆
This is one of the most powerful combos on Ekko, and pulling it off in a game is relatively easy if you are in a lower elo. You don't have to do this in a group of people, doing it to one or two people will work just fine. Note: Many people seem to forget about Ekko's ultimate ghost so this is why it's a pretty reliable.

The Strongest Combo (in my opinion)

In my opinion, probably the strongest combo for Ekko and is a wet dream once pulled off. This is extremely situational and will probably never happen in game, but I think what can be learn here is the W when enemies are chasing you. Note: Many people seem to forget about Ekko's ultimate ghost so this is why it's a pretty reliable.
EXAMPLE

Teamfighting in Ekko is probably one of the most important aspects of any Assassin. Especially someone that has a pretty hard W to hit, however I will show you how to improve your teamfighting.

The first way you can improve your teamfighting is know in loading screen. on who you are gonna target. Is there a Soraka in the game that needs to be taken care of? Target her in every teamfight, Soraka specifically though because she is the one that keeps her teammates alive. Then you can go for anyone else that is squishy, decided by your thinking in loading screen and or the games current state.

I would also say that flanking is really powerful on Ekko. Your champion has a pretty unexpected engage with W, and simply planning ahead will win you more teamfights. Just make sure your team is able to follow up to your stun engage.

Next is in the actual game. Is there a 12/1/6 Varus in the game? A 7/5/8 Orianna and a 4/2/2 Tahm Kench? All of these are factors you have to take in before actually going out and killing people. You generally want to target the ADC first, even if he has a Guardian Angel Once he is in stasis, quickly deal with the Orianna. You generally want to deal with tanks, in this case the Tahm Kench until the very end.

Ekko's teamfighting is really good once you master it, and your champion is pretty fast allowing you to get out of teamfights easily. It's sort of like playing Kha'zix. Get in the teamfight and kill someone and safely get out, and maybe getting back in for another target that's isolated. I'd like to think that whenever I play Ekko.
