If you are against this champion in lane you pray that your jungler ganks you or the Caitlyn is brain damaged.
You get perma poked out of lane and you have a hard time csing because of her constant threat in lane.
Aphelios
Hard to dive in against this champion especially if he has Crescendum or Gravitum. He will instantly shred your hp with Crescendum or CC and slow you with gravitum so you can't escape.
Ezreal
Easiest matchup in the game. He can't contest wave with your superior trading with auto q and you outshove him at all stages which means easy prio. If he is isolated and you either hit w or your ally cc him he is insta dead. He can't e away because of your mobility and you one shot him with q w.
Ashe
She outranges you and if SHE is the one chasing you down you can never escape. Her poke potential with enchanters and engage with engage supps makes her a hard matchup in every way. You can fight back if you're the one engaging but be careful of her slows and r stun.
Draven
Skill matchup as your trading is even. Never trade auto for auto and he will always outtrade you in minion waves.
You can one shot him if semi isolated and you have more agency as the game progresses.
Jhin
Easier matchup as he has a hard time outtrading you and he can't punish you easily in the early game. Easiest 1vs1 in the game.
Jinx
Harder matchup with her new buffed rocket range but should be playable if you have engage support. Be careful of her passive get excited but you should be able to outtrade her in burst trades. Never go for extended trades in minion waves as you will always lose.
Lucian
Hard early on but post six you're evenly matchup. Don't try to auto q trade early because of his superior early game trading but you will be able to stomp him if you don't lose too hard early on.
Samira
If she engages on you try to wait out her w and then blow your full combo on her. She will one shot you with engage supps but it's playable if you play for auto q trades and stand away from her supp.
Senna
She can't do much post six as you will always outtrade her. Be careful of her early poke though.
Sivir
Easy trading easy laning. She will out push you but if you dodge her q you will win every time.
Kalista
Dog water champion. You always outtrade her and you perma one shot her post six.
Tristana
Oof. If she lands w on you or if her supp ccs you say goodbye to your health bar. She will always outtrade you and she has easy disengage if you ever chose to ult onto her.
Twitch
Bonkers. If he doesn't have lulu perma on him you can ult and one shot him every time you see him. Easy trade patterns if you auto Q burst. Don't take extended fights as he will win with poision and E.
Varus
He has better trading than you and slightly outranges you. If you go after auto Q you will get punished and he will run you down. He has good setup and good poke. The only advantage you have is isolated fights and all in.
Vayne
You get outtraded 10/10 times in minion waves and she will win post six. You can try to one shot her in isolated 1vs1s but she will outscale and beat you.
Kog'Maw
Can be a bit hard if you let him auto with w but should be fine as you are 10x better designed Marksman than he is.
Xayah
Counters you if you all in with R and her feathers. You have better burst trades but she hard wins extended fights and 2vs2s.
Miss Fortune
She slightly outranges you and she has better burst and rundown. You will win isolated fights and you will outscale her. Be careful of her ult if her supp has cc lockdown.
Alistar
Preferable matchup as you like to verse melees. Be careful of his combo but you should be able to kite it out and win the trade.
Bard
If he leaves his adc and you have engage support feel free to perma dive their support by slow pushing the wave and crashing whilst diving.
Note that you need to know where enemy jg and bard is before attempting this.
Blitzcrank
If you dodge hook or stand behind your supp it's winning.
Keep in mind that he will break your R shield with his R and knock you up should you get too close.
Brand
If you dodge his shit it should be free but it can get hard depending on his partner. Try to minimize early game and overwhelm him post 6.
Braum
He can mess up your W and Q but generally he can't really stop you from killing his frontline. He has good peel though.
Galio
Can be hard to play against as he counters your dive and you can't really escape him when he is on top of you.
Janna
Fucks your R and has great poke. Hard matchup especially if she goes comet. You should be ok if you just scale or follow up on your supp engages.
Karma
Cancer matchup. She will perma poke you and force you to back at really bad timings. If paired with something like Jinx or Cait she will completely fuck you up leaving little to no counterplay.
Leona
If you dodge her R you win the matchup. Don't get too close though.
Lulu
You get countered pretty bad by polymorph and her R. You should play for front to back and not dive into their backline if Lulu exists in their comp.
Lux
Depending on her playstyle she can be a bit of a problem. If she goes comet and more of a poke style setup she can give you a hard time. Should be easier once out of lane though.
Morgana
Her paired with Cait or Varus can be a big problem. But other than that it should come down to whether you dodge her root or not.
Nami
Her paired with any longer ranged adc can be a problem. Try to avoid getting too close when she has W as it will bounce and poke you down. Don't trade when she has her E on her AD too.
She is really exploitable with the right support and you will have an easy time blowing her up should she position badly.
Nautilus
Can fuck you up with his R and he counters some of your best partners.
Pyke
He gets countered by you and your best partners. If he ever E in you can easily dodge if he doesn't flash and you don't have a problem dodging his Q either.
Rakan
Your best partners hard counter him and you should be able to hard stomp the lane.
Rell
Just a broken overloaded support at the moment. Be careful of her Q when she isn't mounted which fucks you up big time.
Senna
Her poke is really annoying and when she isn't farming she has the freedom to poke whenever she wants. Really easy to abuse with engage supports post six if not before that.
Seraphine
Easy to abuse with engage supports.
Shen
Hard counters your pick potential and with his R and his E. Be really careful when trying to look for picks when he is around.
Sona
Mediocre poke and easy to exploit.
Soraka
Insta pop her with cc and it's free
Swain
Hard to play against as he can punish you when you walk up to cs and chunk you really hard with his E.
Tahm Kench
Mow him down and kill them both
Taric
Can counter your engage but should be fine front to back
Thresh
Fucks you when you R and counters a lot of your best partners.
Vel'Koz
Extreme poke but easy to kill once cc'ed
Xerath
Extreme poke but easy to kill with cc.
Yuumi
Easy double kill
Zilean
Counters your pick potential. Pain in the ass poke and annoying slows.
Zyra
Extreme poke but really easy to kill once cc'ed.
Blitzcrank
As with all engage supports you synergize with their cc and your passive. Plus if they go fishing with their cc you have easy follow up with R.
Alistar
As with all engage supports you synergize with their cc and your passive. Plus if they go fishing with their cc you have easy follow up with R.
Bard
Bard is ok supp but you prefer supports that can stomp and snowball with you.
Braum
He does the exact opposite of what you want to do. He disengages and has low engage options. He has a hard time peeling you aswell because of your mobility
Brand
Fuck mages in the botlane
Janna
You can sort of follow up on her Tornado knock up but has minimal synergy with you. She provides good laning phase and safety though which makes her an OK-ish pick with Kai'sa
Galio
Amazing synergy with Kai'sa. Does everything she wants in a support whilst being able to perfectly follow up on her dive with his R.
Karma
Not ideal
Lulu
Absolute garbage synergy.
Kayle
Not ideal as support but if this champ is in top or mid she can help you destroy their whole team whilst being unkillable.
Leona
Easy follow up with her R and E and with her multiple forms of cc she can nearly solo stack your passive.
Lux
Fuck mages in the botlane
Morgana
Has the possibility to be good with her blackshield. But the lane synergy is really bad
Nami
Has ok synergy with her E but not optimal
Nautilus
Perfect support for Kai'sa. Provides great cc and good peel.
Pyke
Pretty good. Great kill lane and good synergy.
Rell
Perfect support. Has great dive potential with her E and W. Only downside is her R gathering multiple enemies so your Q will not be as effective.
Rakan
Okay synergy but could be better. Good engage though.
Senna
Bad
Seraphine
Bad
Sona
Horrible
Soraka
Good against poke lanes to survive early.
Swain
Good kill lane nothing else.
Tahm Kench
Same as Braum
Taric
Good with his R and E.
Thresh
Pretty good with hooks and flay. Lantern is useful to bail you out of sticky situations too.
Yuumi
Okay-ish but laning is pretty hard against engage lanes and has no apparent synergy other than making you a monster later.
Zilean
good with R when you dive in but bad laning phase synery.
Zyra
Fuck mages in the botlane.
Camille
Great setup for you and easy to follow up on.
Lillia
Her sleep is easy to follow up on and it's perfect for one shooting the enemy.
Karthus
His R makes it easier to finish off targets.
Shen
His R is really ideal with your dive with R.
Skarner
Provides easy targets to pick off.
Twisted Fate
Gives great pick options.

You want to pick Kai'sa when paired with an engage support and if you're not against poke in the botlane. Poke is kai'sa's worst enemy as she is extremely short ranged and will get poked out of lane. This is why you don't want to blind Kai'sa as she gets hard countered by a lot of poke supports.
Early Game
The early game as Kai'sa really depends on the matchup and your support.
If you lost the dice roll and got an enchanter then brace yourself to play on the defensive. You can still look for trades just play around your enchanters cooldowns and trade accordingly.
IF you're fortunate enough to play with an engage support then brace yourself for a skirmish heavy lane. And in these skirmishes it's really important to come out on top.
That's why you need to know how to trade properly.
Generally with Kai'sa your bread and butter trading pattern is auto Q. Auto Q is really good especially with taste of blood as it gives you sustain while being a good burst trade. It's important to note that if you go for this trade then you want to instantly retreat as soon as you do the combo when you're trading in a minion wave. After you auto Q you're generally out of gas and need to wait until your Q is back up. And if you keep fighting after Auto Q you run the risk of the enemy trading back and this will generally lead to a lost trade.
Another combo you can do that is especially good with engage support is to w them while they're cc'ed. This will almost always lead to a passive proc and even if it doesn't you will still nearly always win the trade and you should as a rule of thumb always hold your w until you can burst with your support. W'ing randomly in lane is unreliable and will get punished as your burst is far worse when it's on cooldown.
Freezing as Kai'sa can work but counters both your W and Q. You can go for it in certain situations but generally I like to hold the wave in the middle. This leads to good engage options while there is less minions to tank your Q and block your W. This also makes it easier for your support to land skillshots as they can't hide behind as many minions and engaging will be easier.
Note that freezing is a viable strategy that can lead to kills post six as your engage support if they don't have skillshot cc can easily engage when the enemy overextends for cs.
Mid Game
Mid game as Kai'sa is where she thrives the most with the current build and meta. This is where you want to capitalize on your one shot capabilities and make plays on the map. Get vision down and utilize your blue trinket and W to find and land picks. You generally want to go mid as this is where you get the most access to the map and have the easiest time rotation. Fighting in the mid game is really beneficial for you as you can easily join fights and reposition with R and E. Play the mid game as if you're half assassin but you're more reliant on your team to setup.
Late Game
Late game is where you really want to group and stand behind your allies. Depending on the comp you either play to dive their backline or play front to back. But always be on the lookout for prime opportunities to get a pick or jump into their backline to assassinate their backline. But be careful. One bad ult can lose the game so don't just jump carelessly into their team. Play smart and calculated and you should come out on top.
If you're against hard poke champs as Xerath you generally want to look to jump him. Playing front to back really sucks against poke as you get chunked out of the fight and have to retreat. So do your best to blow them up before they make you irrelevant.
