Introduction

Hey y'all,

This is my detailed guide of playing Ren, prolly the most beastly character in all of LoL. I've been playing Ren for a while now and I finally think I'm good enough to make a proper guide. I'll go in detail for anyone who's never played Ren, veterans can check out my build order.

Runes

I started playing Ren with 9 Marks of Desolation, 9 Glyphs of Warding, 3 Quints of Fortitudes and 9 Seals of Evasion. However, after playing Ren for awhile now, I realized that the Seals worked better especially if you get harassed early game a lot, if I changed them to 9 Seals of Vigor. You'll need the Quints and the Glyphs I listed as well, so you can have a beastly early game and take down whatever comes your way. I've even played mid against a Vlad and drawn first blood.

Masteries

Most other Ren players I've seen, stack all the Masteries on Offense. This is good, provided you have a good tank in your team who can taunt and take the CC of you once you're ulti is on. You can keep spamming Cull the Meek, but chances are you'll be dead about three-forths the time during a team fight. I personally keep all my Masteries on defense, going the 9-21-0 route. 3/3 Deadliness, 1 for Archmages, 4/4 Sorcery and 1 for Archaic Knowledge. Fill up everything on Defense, apart from Rally, Cleanse, Heal, Nimbleness and Revive. 0/3 for Strength of Spirit and 2/4 on Evasion.

Items

Start of with a Doran's Shield instead of the Doran's Blade. You'll need the armor and also the health regen stacks with your Seals. The extra HP doesn't hurt either. This was you can lane forever and never have to go back to heal.

The first thing you'll need to farm are your Boots of Lucidity. CDR is very important, as you probably know. The next time you teleport back, make sure you have enough for a Kindgren and a Brutalizer. Remember, because of Cull the Meek, Doran's and your Marks, health pots are useless.

Next once you've finished your Spirit Visage, move onto making a BF sword, or 2. Don't finish your Ghostblade, yet. I usually finish making the BF's into a Bloodthirster and a Black Cleaver before finishing off the Ghostblade.

So you're final build will be: Doran's Shield, Ghostblade, Spirit Visage, Boots of Lucidity, Bloodthirster and a Black Cleaver.

This way you get CDR for spamming Cull the Meek and Ruthless Predator, high damage and of course with ghostblade active and the black cleaver, easy recharges for your Fury.

Skill Sequence

Of course your first skill Cull the Meek is the bread and butter of your game. Its the first thing you'd want to take and level up. If you're going solo against 2 or going mid, take Ruthless Predator as your second skill. If you're with someone else, make sure you take Slice and Dice. This is your farming tool. Slice in, Cull the Meek, dice out. If you do this with the minions at about 30% life and 50% Fury, slicing in from the first (melee) minion wave to in between the gap between the minions, executing a Cull the Meek and dicing out back to your original position (and doing so quickly), you're gonna farm entire waves in one go.

Ruthless Predator is my personal favorite. Combined with Fury on red and your Dominus on, you can pawn pretty much any champ in front. It's also a great way to take care of other DPS champs (Trynd and Xin mostly), especially if they don't have a stun themselves. Remember, you're hording CDR unlike other DPSs, so keep spamming Cull the Meek, during the stun period.

So a good combo would be, R (Ulti on) + W (Ruthless) + Q (Cull) + E (Slice) + Q (Cull) + D (Dice).....if he's still alive, stun him again. Also, since you have a lot of HP, especially with Dominus, you'll still be alive and well. Turning on Ghostblade at anytime during the combo works wonders as well.

So in summary your first six skills will be, Cull the Meek -> Slice and Dice -> Cull the Meek -> Ruthless Predator -> Cull the Meek -> Ulti.
(of course replace Ruthless Predator with Slice if you're soloing)
Then max out Cull the Meek, then Ruthless Predator and then Slice and Dice.

Summoner Spells

I usually just go with Ignite and Ghost. Ignite us useful when a champ you just dominated, runs away from battle and you can't really chase him down you you Ignite and get the kill. Ignite works wonders as well when playing a champ who heals (Vlad, Xin, Swain) since it reduces the healing by 50% for 5 seconds. So make sure you Ignite them when they are about 50% down, NOT when you start the fight.

Ghost helps you escape, tower dive and chase. If you feel more comfortable with Flash, use it. Exhaust works as well if you wanna disable a squishy and then wreak havoc on him.

Team Work

Your job in ganks and team fights are simple. Slice in through the battle and land on the ranged squishies. Turn on Dominous and pawn anything that moves. Don't stand toe to toe with the other team's tank, cause you won't be there for long. Again, spam your Q every chance you get. My left pinky is actually stronger than ever from doing that. If your Team backs you up you'll come back alive with 2 kills, if not....you won't die in vain, since you'll take down an Ashe/Cait/MF with you. Oh and since Dominous affects all your enemies around you, you'll get some ridiculous assist numbers, so more gold.

In early game, if you're laning with a squishy, try to protect that guy, taking some hits if required, coz you know you can heal faster from Cull and Dorans/Seals. However if you go with a Tank (Sion, Cho, Morde) you're gonna play aggressive and if you pull it off, be called "Beasty". A tank with a stun/disable is your best friend. When he stuns/disables someone, quickly slice to him, Cull and stun him again. Dice away from the other laning opponent (either to the left or right). Harassment like this coupled with an Ignite (or 2) ends up with easy kills. What I love about Ren is that he can take as much punishment as he can dish out, especially with Defensive masteries. Thus, you don't play an Off Tank in terms of builds (with Spirit Visage being your only main defensive item), but you can use him as one, with massive HP regen.

Summary

So there you have it. My personal guide to the beast that is Renekton. Hopefully you find this guide helpful and you can have fun with Ren. He can be hard to play with, but with the right amount of button smashing and a little patience, you're gonna love him.
