Draven
Farming is your priority! Attempt to bait him to step up and Q him when he's ahead of the minions due to range nerfs of 8.4 can never AA trade. It is possible to kill him with a good support though they force Draven to drop his axes with CC or you have a large HP difference.
Champion Build Guide
I'm a furry degenerate who primarily plays Kalista. Most would call it one tricking. I've been playing since Season 7 going from Katarina gold. To Season 8 a Kalista player since I was tired of being kited as Katarina by her, ended gold. And now Season 9 after getting used to Kalista and a million+ mastery points later got to platinum with her. I also stream though have taken a small hiatus due to real life things getting in the way temporarily. As of the new season looking forward to seeing how far I can push Kalista as this season I had 358 games played with a 62% winrate.
Feelings on the champion:
Nothing describes the Kalista roller coaster more than Riot Meddlers insight on Kalista...
"We've also put a lot of time into trying to close that gap on those three over the years, with mixed success, given some parts of those champions core identities are tied to the very elements that give them that variance in power by context. For a while, quite possibly a long while at that, we're going to be prioritizing most other champion work over closing that gap as a result. That means Azir, Kalista and Ryze will be balanced for their strong cases (organized play primarily), even if that leaves them quite weak in other contexts. It's not that we think that's the perfect solution, but that we think the time's better spent on other champions who haven't got that same degree of attention over the years and would benefit a lot from it. If you're someone who likes those champs, but feels you shouldn't play them in solo queue, our apologies. I expect that feels pretty rough and that even if these champs are strong in the right circumstances that doesn't help if those circumstances aren't ones you personally experience. Completely agree there are downsides to this approach, we do think it's the best available trade off for LoL players as a whole though. |
Personally I feel Kalista is in a great spot minus the Stormrazor providing a slow which directly impacts her DPS via passive making movement speed slows = attack speed slows indirectly. So it's hard to break the habit of moving and instead afk in place to upkeep my DPS. Honestly a few quality of life buffs would be nice since there are now 3 bushes bot lane and invisibility on a large chunk of champions having my auto attacks not miss if I lose sight of them would feel pretty good. As senna gives anyone camouflage. Fix the bug that makes it where Kalista can cancel her auto attacks or on rare occasions her first auto attack will not throw a spear at all. The small things would add up. Otherwise I still love her kit and will continue to play her in this new season. |
The main reason I made this guide as oppose to some of the other ones on the Mobafire community it is not written from someone who has been playing since Season 1 and instead I'm a real player who struggled through the lower depths of ELO hell. Grinding and learning the role as ADC over the course of one season into the next and the guide is dedicated to those who look to follow suit. A few items would never be viable higher the ELO you go like Randuin's Omen though I will tell you it honestly works wonders when you have a support trolling you and a top laner that afk's on his island. So try it out and don't give up! Kalista is viable, not top tier like Kai'Sa but she is viable.
