your sustain is bigger than his damage, you can bully him if you can catch him. Just don't take too much damage from his minions. he is has better cc than yours, but you have a lot more damage than him late.
Aatrox
he will play against you aggressively, to win trades against him you got to play in your minion wave, and dodge his q sweet spots, he is stronger than you early, but later on he can't do anything against you. I recommend getting Sunfire cape to be able to kill him in a 1v1
Akali
she is stronger in trades in you. Even if you win trades she is really slippery and hard to catch with her shroud, 2 dashes on e, and 2 dashes on ult, one of them being an execute, so if you both are low she is more likely to kill you. You are stronger than her lategame if you can catch her.
Riven
Watch out for her level 1 trades, since she can kill you in one chace to the tower. you win trades if you can hit her with your e without soaking too much damage in lower elo when a riven starts spamming jumps on you press q to cancel her knock-up, after that, you can damage her with your e, and silencing her with w so she cant stun you, generally try not to die till level 6, after that, you can kill her if you have a lead on her post level 6 you can generally just run her down for a kill
Camille
try to punish her with your e when she walks up for a minion. if she tries fighting back, try to kite her to your wave, you win trades if you get free poke on her or if you go for a long trade, and break her passive shield If you knock her up when she has a grappling hook going into the wall, after the knock-up, she will still pull herself next to the wall.
Cassiopeia
farm, while getting the least poke possible, you can sustain some dmg. don't fight her late-game since she will melt you, to beat her late game you need the unkitable chogath build, because of her slows
Cho'Gath
chogath with more stacks wins
Darius
just try to farm, don't trade him, when he pulls you in use q under yourself, aa him once with e, and run away. Don't go too far away from your turret since if he uses ghost on you when you are further in the lane you will be dead
Dr. Mundo
you have the upper hand in trades. rush bramble vest early, he will generaly just stand behind minions and use his cleaver to farm, if he decides to do this dont fight him, since he can kite you out. If he is farming like this, concider blocking cannon minions with your body, so he cant kill them
Fiora
she can do a lot to you with her passive and ult, you can beat her if you get bramble and tabi, and she doesent have a lead on you by then dont use ur q untill she uses her parry, and poke her with ur e
Gangplank
he can bully you out hard early, if he goes grasp and spams his q on you, you can heal back with your passive, watch out for his early all in and him eating an orange and healing back hp when you are ulting him. you should be equal in power at level 6 and easily beat him at level 11 if you are not behind.
Garen
your trading capabilities are even, but you have more sustain. so you should win this lane. reset his healing passive by poking him long range with one of your abilities, later on he can kill you with his ultimate when you are at about 40% of your max hp.
Gnar
try to not take a lot of damage before level 3, then try to bait out his jump, and when it is on cooldown all in him. your q interups his jumps (in both forms), so if you can q him mid jump he has no escape tools from you Stay away from his mega form, since it is stronger than you early. you win 1v1 against him if you get in range of when he is in his ranged form.
Irelia
don't fight her when she has full stacks. when she gets her vampiric scepter she can heal from no hp to full hp in one to two waves. she is stronger than you early game but you can win against her at level 6. after getting one item you are stronger than her (unless she rushes botrk) then you need to wait until level 11.
Jax
generally stronger than you in the early game. when you get q he shouldnt be able to use his stun on you, because if you q under yourself he will either get knocked up, and you can run out of his e range, or he will have to dodge your q, letting you run away from him before he can recast the spell. His trades are stronger than yours in the early levels, but you are stronger than him when you get level 6, but he hasn't goten divine sunderer yet. After he gets the item you are weaker than him, unless you are ahead.
Kayle
she can beat you in an all in fight if she has lethal tempo even level 1. you can bully her by sustaining and using your grasp attacks, it becomes harder to kill her when she gets ranged at level 6. after she gets 1-2 items she can melt you so you should avoid fighting her past that point
Kennen
stay behind your minions and try to farm up, if he walks up to you you can win trades, but generally he outruns you, so you cant kill him unless you get ganked, I recommend just farming and ulting minions until team-fights
Kled
he is a lane bully. his rapid auto attack spell is on a long cooldown, and is activated whenever he attacks even a minion, so try to wait this ability out, to survive lane you need to dodge his beartraps. later on he is likely to use shield giving items like gargoyle stone plate when he gets knocked out of of his mount, so if he is itemizing shield giving item, I recommend saving your ult for someone else
Maokai
don't stand between him and your minions, so you don't get hit by his q. Generally in lane you will get equal trades, and both of you will be able to back up and recall without getting killed, so the only way to kill him is by getting ganked by your jungle. I recommend using your ult on cooldown on minions to get free stacks
Mordekaiser
His passive should never be on you. You never go in on him. You wait till he gets on you with his pull, then you hit him with knockup and 1e+grasp then walk away out of his passive. Then go back in while it's down. Never extend the trade for more than 2 auto attacks. It's Q auto-Ereset walk away. Repeat. Rush QSS first item. Then norm tank items. Don't worry about trying to kill him, just feast minions on CD to build HP.
Nasus
you beat him in a 1v1 early. try to not let him farm minions for free since he gets more damage the more creatures he kills with his q. when he ults, you run and try to cc it untill it runs out.
Ashe
will slow you and make you feel like it is impossible for you to move, you can kill her in a 1v1, but if she has a support with cc near her she will just
won't let you move until you die. this champion can kite unkitable chogath build if she has support near her
Olaf
He can avoid all your cc with ult permanently after his mini rework. He is a lane bully, and can run you down if he hits his q's rush bramble into him. Try to surivive early, you should be much more ussefull in lategame.
Ornn
he deals a lot of damage with his w and r since it does 12-18% of your max hp scaling with level. you can 1v1 him only before level 2. When he ults try to cc him. if he can get off his ult recast he will be stronger than you in every aspect.
Pantheon
currently, he is op you win trades only if you cc and then hit him and run away. Try to farm up and play for late game since you hard outscale him. don't stay in lane if you are low since his q does more damage to low hp targets
Poppy
you win trades against her as long as she does not pick up her shield or not throw you into the wall early. Late game you win 1v1 against her and are more useful than her in team fights
Anivia
slows, stuns, walls. she makes it almost impossible to reach a target for you in team fights, if someone with cc is helping her you can't really move at all. this champion can kite unkitable chogath build if she has support near her
Heimerdinger
One of the most boring champions to play against. You can't win trades against him if he knows what he is doing. But he can't do damage unless you walk into the range of his turrets. So you should be able to just farm up early. he gets increased movement speed near his turrets, so if your jungle is ganking and you miss your cc then just fall back and stop the gank, since a good Heimerdinger could kill you both when you don't have cc
Galio
if you dodge his dash and q early you win, if he hits them he will get a lot of damage on you and you won't be able to trade back.
Lucian
hard to survive in lane, but you outscale him really hard. only go for minions when he can't hard punish you. Most important part is to get xp. after level 6 you can kill him if you hit your q and he wastes e beforehand, but untill level 11 he is still stronger than you and his ult deals like 40% of your hp, so try to keep your silence for that ability in fights untill mid/late game
Master Yi
you can't kill him at any point of the game 1v1, unless you are really ahead. CC him untill allies kill him. priority target to use your r execute on.
Quinn
you can start winning trades at level 3. you can't win if she can use her abilities, so don't trade if you can't cc her. you win against her in the late game
Rell
steals a bit of armor from you
Renekton
bullies you hard in the early game. You should outscale him, but in team fights your goal should be to peel your team from his prowler combo Oneshot.
Rengar
use q under yourself when he is about to jump on you from a bush. In this way you can guarantee to cc him. if you don't trade constantly you just out sustain him in the lane.
Rumble
Your poke is as strong as his, but he does not have sustain, so you should win lane, but watch out for his fire spell when he is overcharged (his mana bar is red) because he can kill you from 80% hp with only his overcharged flamethrower spell and auto attacks.
Ryze
don't get damaged too much early levels and all in him in level 3. he has big poke but not a lot of consistent damage. His mana runs out fast in the early game
Sett
early game his sustain is even higher than yours, but he is killable if you take short trades. He does do % of your max hp with his q, and because of that you can't kill him at any point of the game if he gets botrk which does % of ur current health damage. He also does % of your bonus hp on all champs he hits with his r. So in team fights take care of where you and he position, since if he throws you into your team, he can basically take out at least 50% of your squishier teammates hp
Shen
he wins trades if he passes his sword through you early. you win against him as long as he does not all In you. you can stop his ultimate teleport by using your w on him. He does % of your max hp with his q empowered auto attacks. You scale evenly
Singed
just don't chase him, and hit him with aa when he walks up. you should win by doing just this. If he decides to proxy waves, then just ignore him and farm up
Sion
you can cancel his q with your w, using your q takes too much time, so your q won't cancel his q, because he will use it earlier. if he goes tank you scale evenly. If he goes assassin you outscale him when you get Sunfire cape.
Skarner
I have not seen skarner top in the last 1000 games so I can't tell you much about this matchup
Soraka
when you are about to ult someone she can just heal them by a few hundred hp from other side of the map, so that is supper annoying, also she generaly heals her allies more than you do damage so its really unfun to play against her
Swain
farm up against him. It's hard to kill him since he is ranged and has sustain, he becomes stronger than you when he has ult and liandrys. when he ults try to run away and wait out his ult, since It will only run out when you get out of its range.
Sylas
can heal up half of his hp with one spell so ulting him is unreliable. Can steal your ult and get ult stacks increasing his own hp.
Tahm Kench
he is a bit stronger than you in the early game, so you should just try to survive the lane, since it's almost impossible to kill him. mid/late game you have similar amounts of inpact a game. Basically a skill matchup
Teemo
don't get killed by him, don't int for cs, most important thing for you is to get level 6. after that you should be able to kill him. I recomend taking second wind and revitalise in your runes against him.
Trundle
his ult steals your stats and he shreds tanks. watch out for his level 1 all-in since it can kill you or leave you with low hp. He is called the king of level 1 for a reason.
Tryndamere
can kill you in a single all In in levels 1-3 if playing with ignite and gets lucky with crits. rush tabi and bramble vest, to make him useless. don't ult him if he is in his ultimate, you can try to save it until it ends, or you can use it at the moment it reaches the threshold since a lot of tryndameres don't expect the damage
Urgot
deals % max hp with his passive. try to not take free poke and dodge his e in the early game. You can't really trade, so you should farm up and wait for the late game. If he builds black cleaver he can kill you in the late game.
Vayne
don't stand near walls, because if she stuns you you are dead.
Best to go ap with everfrost in this lane and comet in this lane, but if you are playing tank: take only cs you can without her hitting 3 w passive stacks (except cannon minions sometimes) in the midgame fight with other enemy team members, let your teammates deal with her. Later on, try to cc her in team fights when she is low, flash, and ult her. you can't 1v1 her at any point in the game unless you are ahead and hit your q.
Vladimir
if you fall back, when he is about to get q2, and wait it out, he has no way to ever kill you. at level 6 you should be even. when you max out your w (level 13) you can w him
Volibear
you cant win until you get Sunfire cape (if you buy it) if not, you outscale him at level 11. go for 3 hits with e, and then fall back before he hits his second w on you. use your q when he already used his q or it ran out of time, since if you cc him when he is running in his q, its cooldown will get reset. try to freeze wave near your turret, don't stay in lane with low hp, because his ult disables towers. Watch out when ulting him since his ult increases his hp temporarily
Warwick
a lot of lifesteal, try to silence him before ulting him so he can't heal himself when you ult him.
if you place your q under yourself right when he is about to ult you, you can cancel the ult in the second it starts. ww can kill you even at a level/item disadvantage
Wukong
currently has insane damage, you can outsustain him in lane and kill him, but he does way more damage to you than you do to him, dont stand next to him and his clone at once. later on in the game his ult is bigger cc than your q, and you can't 1v1 him because his divine sunderer heals him for insane amounts of damage.
Yasuo
strong early, you can take down his shield with poke of your e spikes. you can win short trades as long as you don't get hit by his tornado.
Yone
this champ has 3 dashes and a movement speed increase, he is extremely hard to hit spells on and deals a lot of damage, but he is squishy so you should be able to 1v1 him in the late game.
Kog'Maw
deals % hp max damage, with insane range, so you can't reach him, the only thing you can do is hope your team kills him before he starts melting you.
Zac
you can cancel his e jump if you q in the place he will land, you can also cancel it by w him before he starts the jump. He can do some decent damage since he does about 4% of ur max hp with each mini explosion he does
Kai'Sa
you kill her 1v1 even if she is fed if you land at least one spell on her. try to focus her in team fights, since she can do a lot of dmg to you.
Karma
Has insane speed, root and a slow and quite a lot of sustain. so you cant really kill her. She does not do a lot of damage, so if you dodge her q, you should just farm up in lane. lategame she becomes a shield dispencer for her team she makes everyone really tanky, so you should keep her as a priority target if you can catch her. watch out for her shielding the target you are about to ult
Yuumi
very annoying since she can heal enemies right before you ult them, and deny you ult stacks
Udyr
currently just runs around you, while you are too slow to hit anything on him
Malzahar
you can break his spell shield with the spikes of your e, you can also cancel his ult by using q just before he ults you, you can also cancel his ult if he ults your teammate with w
Gragas
you can't kill him without a gank, so your main objective in this lane is to sustain his poke and survive until mid/late game
Kalista
can succ up the support when you are about to eat him, so that is annoying
Kindred
can deny your ult stacks with her own ult so take care, and cc her before ulting someone
Akshan
He can kill you at level 1 or 2 even if you are at 80% hp with a proper all-in. When you get level 6 you can kill him if you can catch him, and not let him e away. You should get second wind rune.
Lillia
insane amounts of damage, and she is impossible to catch in lane. try not to give her kills, since she snowballs really hard. Just get xp in lane, and scale
Gwen
she does % max hp ap damage, can melt you in seconds while you can't really trade back. Survive the lane and scale up, other players in your team should deal with her late game.
Tristana
really opressive lane bully, if she snowballs you can't do anything against a tristana top. But if she jumps in the minion wave, you can beat her from level 3. And become stronger than her from level 6. To outplay her you need to q her just before she jumps away, so when she starts jumping she gets knocked up, and her jump is canceled.
Bard
can ult enemies and set you up to be able to hit a massive cc chain
Illaoi
if you eat a soul she draws from a champion you get champion ult stacks
Galio
his ult is a live saver, can cc enemies making it easy for you to hit skilshots
Ivern
he spawns bushes, when you are in a bush and enemies can't see you, and that makes your q invisible so they can't dodge it.
Kalista
if she binds you, she can ult you into the enemies, helping you with your imobility
Karma
gives movement speed
Lulu
makes you bigger :D
Pyke
you both have the same ultimate, so he will often kill enemies before you can execute enemies for stacks. His ultimate deals more damage than yours does until level 16
Ryze
can teleport you into the enemy team, solving your mobility problem
Yuumi
gives you heals, mobility, damage, and even more cc
Zilean
gives you a lot of movement speed, stuns enemies, and can give you guardian angel.
Yasuo
you can set up his ult with your q, quite a good addition to your team
Jarvan IV
if he can ult multiple enemies, you can land q for free, especially good for ap Cho'gath
Veigar
his e cage makes you hit q easily, but enemies can still dodge it, since your q is a bit smaller than his cage

Hello, I am a dimond toplane player from eune who is always looking to improve. In-game I am known as pls buff tanks.
According to porofessor app, I am 93 rank chogath worldwide and the 18th chogath player in eune.
Why choose chogath?
Pros
+Good early gamesustain with Carnivore +Infinite scaling +It takes 20-30 seconds to kill you late game +Oneshoting capability +A lot of different cc ( Rupture Feral Scream Vorpal Spikes) +carry capability
Cons
-can easily be countered by true or %max hp damage -immobile -needs ult stacks to be strong
Skill explanation
PASSIVE
ABILITY
CARNIVORE(Passive):Whenever Cho'Gath kills a unit, he recovers 20 - 71 (+2.83 each level) Health and 3.5 - 7.75 Mana (+0.25 each level.
ussage: this passive is great for health sustain in the lane, and if you are low on mana, killing a few minions will help you to be able to use one more spells.
Q
RUPTURE(Q): Ruptures the ground at target location. After a delay of 0.5 seconds, enemies are launched into the air for 1 second, dealt 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+100% of ability power) magic damage, and have their movement speed slowed by 60% for 1.5 seconds.
Usage: lets you cc enemies, letting you either run away or catch up to them, can also let you attack them without taking any damage back. If you use this spell from a place enemies don't have vision then it becomes invisible to the enemies. this spell can cancel most dashes, so you should use it on yourself when enemies are about to dash onto you.
W
FERAL SCREAM(W): After 0.5 seconds, Cho'Gath screams in a cone in front of him, silencing enemies for 1.6 / 1.7 / 1.8 / 1.9 / 2 seconds and dealing 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+70% of ability power) magic damage.
Usage: silences enemies making them unable to cast spells, when enemies are silenced you should use your Feast and possibly Rupture, making them unable to avoid your ultimate damage.
E
VORPAL SPIKES(E):
Cho'Gath's next 3 basic attacks have 50 bonus range and launch a volley of spikes in a line, dealing 22 / 37 / 52 / 67 / 82 (+30% of ability power) (+ 3% of target's maximum health (+ 0.5% per Feast stack)) magic damage and applying a 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% slow that decays over 1.5 seconds to enemies hit.
Vorpal Spikes resets Cho'Gath's autoattack timer.
Usage: this spell acts as an aa reset, letting you aa twice in a row. this spell is your main source of damage since it does 3% of your max hp (+0.5% of your max hp per ultimate stack). It provides a slow which does not let enemies run away from you, and if you combine this spell with Feral Scream, enemies can not dodge your Rupture
R
FEAST(R): After 0.5 seconds, Cho'Gath devours an enemy unit, dealing 300 / 475 / 650(+50% of ability power)(+10% of bonus health)true damage. Against non-champions, the base damage is increased to 1000. If the target is killed, Cho'Gath grows, gaining 80 / 120 / 160 extra health. Each stack of Feast gives Cho'Gath4.9 / 6.2 / 7.5 attack range, up to 49 / 62 / 75 bonus range. Cho'Gathcan only gain 6 stacks from minions and non-epic monsters, but Feast can stack infinitely.
Usage: this is your main tool to scale since it gives you max hp and damage depending on your max hp. try to use Feast as soon as it comes off cooldown. If you can kill them, then start fighting them before your Feastcomes off cooldown, and you should be able to use it as soon as it becomes ready, if you can't kill an enemy in the near future, then get stacks from minions, since each stack is worth 213-427 gold(depending on ultimate level)in health (it also gives damage with your e)
RUNES
Grasp of the Undying this is gonna be your main rune choice since it deals 4% of your max hp as ap damage and it gives 2% of your max hp when you deal damage with it. and it gives 5 more max hp every time you use it.
Aftershock might also be a viable choice, it makes you do less damage, but enemies deal less damage to you after you used Rupture or Feral Scream on them. You also end up having a 50-200 less max hp in the late game.
Demolish it helps you do more damage to the turrets, since it does 35% of your max hp as additional damage you can deal half of the turrets hp in one hit.
Conditioning helps you scale into the late game since it increases your armor and magic resist by 5%. To help you survive lane you can either use Bone Plating it gives you more survivability against all-in champions or Second Wind which helps you against ranged poke champions.
Overgrowth also helps you scale into the late game by giving you max hp when jungle camps or minions die near you. It also gives 3.5% max hp when a total of 120 minions have died near you
Triumph gives you 12% of your max hp heal and 20 gold after a champion kill. this rune saves me almost every game especially after a turret dive letting you survive an additional turret shot.
Legend: Tenacity gives stacks, which makes cc last shorter, letting you move more freely
Biscuit Delivery lets you use more spells early game, and gives you additional manaearly game.
Approach Velocity lets you fallow after enemies which you or your allies cc'ed.
item choices
PLATED STEELCAPS
VS
MERCURY'S TREADS
you should buy Plated Steelcaps if enemies have a lot of enemies using aa, or if your enemy toplaner is a tough matchup relying on aa, like Tryndamere or Fiora. its also the best buy if enemy tram has 4 or 5 ad champions
Mercury's Treads are the best option if enemies have a lot of cc, since Mercury's Treads gives you tenacity, it is also a good choice if enemies have 3 or 4 ap champions in their team
SUNFIRE AEGIS
VS
FROSTFIRE GAUNTLET
Sunfire Aegis is my preferred option since it is better in long fights, since you deal more damage, I recommend taking it against enemies with a lot of cc and/or slows since this item grants additional tenacity/slow resistance
Iceborn Gauntlet gives you health which has a good synergy with your ult, since the more hp you have the more dmg your ult deals. It also gives you size, making enemies focus you instead of squishy carries in your team. I do not recommend buying this item if enemies have champions that deal damage based on %of your max hp or %of your missing hp like Fiora Vayne Zac Garen or even Fiddlesticks
other viable items
viable items -
BRAMBLE VEST: you should look to rush Bramble Vest into all ad champs that heal from their kit like Aatrox Fiora. This item should be bought early even if your lane opponent isn't ad, since current meta has a lot of healing, and it costs only 800g.
IONIAN BOOTS OF LUCIDITY:Theese boots are a viable option if you want to snowball hard, since they give ability haste, and because of that you can Feast more often
TURBO CHEMTANK:this item gives you mobility which lets you run up to enemy carries and be able to oneshot them, this item got nerfed a few times so right now its the best item only if enemy carries are mobile or cc heavy squishies like Vayne Lucian or Syndra
THORNMAIL:We want this item because of the reduced healing it gives when you manage to hit enemies with Rupture, this should be your 2 item after the mythic if you are facing an ad matchup, if your matchup is ap you should be looking to buy this item at the time teamfights start
FORCE OF NATURE:This is our go to item into ap matchups, on top of the magic resist it provides, it also gives a slight movement speed boost, which helps us to get on top of enemy carries
DEAD MAN'S PLATE:this is the second armor item you should be looking for, since it gives us mobility, and with it more potential to catch out squishy enemy carries
WARMOG'S ARMOR:This is a generally good item that gives health regeneration, we want to buy it if team fights are long or they consist of few separate fights, so in that case, when you get low, you can retreat and regenerate your hp in the next few seconds
GARGOYLE STONEPLATE:this is your go-to item into mixed damage teams, and when you are the one getting focused, since it gives us both armor and magic resist, and the more enemies attack us the more resistances we get. try to use its active, just before enemy teams main burst damage lands
RANDUIN'S OMEN:this is your go to armor item against carries that have crit builds like Jhin since its active reduces enemy attack damage, and damage with crits, while also slowing them
TITANIC HYDRA:This is one of your best late game items, since it gives you attack damage, and aftershock damage based on your bonus max hp (which you get a lot of lategame) this item gives you 100+adlategame and makes it the most cost-efficient item for tank Cho'Gath
FROEN HEART:it makes enemies aa slower, and their aa do less damage, it also gives you a lot of armor, so this is a situational item you want to buy if main enemy carries are aa based champs, and if enemy team is full ad.
ABYSSAL MASK:this item is only good if enemies are full ap, since its passive relies on you hitting your Rupture and it is kinda useless if you can't hit it
SPIRIT VISAGE:This is another situational item that you want to buy only if - you are fed and have Soraka or Yuumi who is always healing you, or you are facing a full ap team, this item is not good on its own, since Cho'Gathlate game does not have much sustain, and there simply are better items for him
