Immobile with no heavy poke makes Soraka pretty easy to deal with most of the time. The sustain during lane will be annoying but you will make up for it when her pokes feel like tickles. Be mindful of her ult during all-ins and try not to feed her ADC.
Sona
Sona has high early game damage but loses to the amount of CC you provide in almost every all-in opportunity. Avoid her 5 man ultimates.
Teemo
Just tell him to stop and he probably will. Use your Saplings to counter his passive in any bush!
Sett
Just avoid his pull (E) and wait for his shield (W) to fade before all inning. Hold ultimate as needed to follow-up after his.
Karma
Karma has great sustained poke but that is about it versus Maokai. Take advantage of big ultimate opportunities and be mindful of her W.
Senna
Her invisibility counters you a little bit as well as her zoning potential. Avoid getting stunned and predict her movements with Saplings to set up the juicy all-in.
Seraphine
Same deal as Sona but with more annoyance.
Morgana
A good Morgana can rock your world early game and leave you hanging dry for gold if you cannot dodge her Q's. Her spell shield is also a critical counter to Maokai's W ability, but this can be outplayed if you use your Saplings to bait her into deploying her spell shield so that you can follow-up with some harder CC.
Xerath
You will most likely get poked out of laning how you would like, but remember that Xerath is very squishy and immobile without summoner spells. If you can match his poke, do not pass up those early all-ins.
Vel'Koz
Same deal as Xerath, but avoid letting him gain passive stacks on you.
Lux
Dodge Q's and zone with your Saplings better than she does with her E.
Nautilus
Nautilus falls off later in the game compared to you, but can still mess you up with his chain CC. Avoid knocking up your allies if he ult's you and as always, dodge Q.
Blitzcrank
Much like a Morgana match-up it is all about dodging Blitz Q. He does not have as much all in potential as you do otherwise.
Nami
Nami has great zoning potential and sustain. One bubble and your a** is toast. Your combo beats hers, though.
Janna
Janna is 50/50. Sometimes you'll catch her just right with your saplings and other times you'll think the b*tch has wings. Try to punish her poke and time her shields.
Tahm Kench
Tahm is seriously out of style right now, but if you do stumble upon one they are probably a one-trick.
Ivern
Ivern is pretty strong in lane but you can use his bushes against him.
Pyke
Don't get pulled. If you do, use W to dodge his other skillshots.
Pantheon
Kind of a skill match-up for your W's work the same. Your build path can counter him relatively early into the game if you do not snowball him.
Shen
Your kit counters Shen's, so try to knock him out of his W so your team can wreck him.
Swain
Swain is easily shut down with proper dodging skills but counters the hell out of your level 6 all-ins. Recommend anti-heal.
Rakan
Rakan has great engage, disengage and sustain. Try to drop your ultimate before he gets a chance to use his in large scale team fights and don't let him catch you out in lane.
Shaco
Where'd he go? Your Saplings will kill Shaco boxes when they are visible, so throw them next to his boxes to guarantee some damage onto them when they pop up.
Thresh
Lantern makes Thresh a pretty big counter. I was onced pulled to the enemy base after W'ing an enemy who took a lantern.
Braum
Braum is really hard to collapse on. Early lane trades are your friend until he launches you to the moon.
Alistar
Do not fall for his cocky pathing! It's a trap! Look for early trades.
Zilean
Zilean is not only the king of time but also zoning/lane pressure. He throws off focus and can tilt you to the next realm, but look for roam priority and collapse on those lonely enemies.
Brand
Brand is extremely annoying and will DPS the sh*t out of you and your ADC. Build proper MR, out-roam him and try for early lane trades.
Bard
Bard is beatable but his roams are almost unmatched. Get him elsewhere by collapsing on their AD while he is away or intercepting his roams.
Lulu
Lulu is kind of like a groundhog. She will pop up every now and then to snipe you with Q, but spend the rest of her time perma-shielding the enemy ADC. Predict who she might ult in teamfights and keep your distance in lane.
Anivia
Anivia wall will prevent you from doing a lot of things, like disengaging. Always wait for her to use wall before you choose to dive the enemy.
Taric
Taric ult. eliminates all possibility of diving, which Maokai is great at. He has great CC and disengage but is abusable early.
Zyra
A lot in Zyra's kit counters Maokai. From her bush control and burst, to her straight up insane ranged CC. She is very good at turning around fights, so dodge those E's and time your ultimates wisely!
Rell
Rell will show you what a real tank looks like if you're not careful. Her insane scaling and all-in potential puts her at the bottom of the list for people you want to jump on.
Galio
Galio is a champion that can tilt you into oblivion. Don't get caught and predict his R's. Bait his knock-up and sacrifice yourself for your AD, but not too much.
Leona
Leona is as cancer as Maokai. Level 2 is like the Hunger Games.
Yuumi
Definition of: "how hard can the enemy ADC carry?"
Annie
Annie provides extreme pressure and will make you look like an idiot before you get your combo off. Timing her stun will determine how your lane goes.
