With Aatrox you want to play passive until level 6 and then push him hard when ult is up.
Your Ult can be used to dodge his E and I believe his Q so time it well.
May want Executioner's Calling to deal with his healing.
Akali
Due to the invisibility as well as how dashy she is it makes it hard to land an E. Play passive until level 6 and then push her under turret when your ult is up.
Blitzcrank
If he is playing Tank and top just eat him. You shouldn't lose the lane as long as you don't play too agressive before level 6. Even so play passive and wait until level 6 for shoving lanes in.
Camille
This matchup is about playing passive and waiting for your ult. When she wall dashes you Throw E directly at her as she wants to dash from wall to you.
If she ults you, usually you can land an E and ult yourself making her want to run away from you.
Cassiopeia
If she is top lane?
Dodge the game :)
If she is and you already dodged once today just ask mid to swap lanes to avoid Cass.
There isn't much counter play to her but if you do E her back off and try to Flash ult on top of her and the spirit to burst her and the spirit down quickly enough to finish her.
Cho'Gath
Like most other matchups play passive until level 6 and then push aggressively when your ult is up.
When He tries to Q you, you can dodge the knock up by ulting.
In a fight you want to land an E early and poke before moving in as Cho'Gath has a lot of burst and might be able to Ult you before you can finish him (later levels not so much 6-11)
Darius
This is a very even laning phase. HOWEVER DO NOT PLAY AGRO PRE-LEVEL 6!
He is designed to punish melee champions and he will destroy you should you play to agro prior to having your ult.
POST-LEVEL 6: Poke with E and wait until he is half or so health before trying to all in him. If he pushes you at level 6 even if he is full health you should still win.
Diana
As a Dashy girl you need to avoid being all in'd prior to level 6. However once you hit level 6 you should push her under turret when you have Ult up.
Dr. Mundo
This lane is pretty easy as long as you play it correctly. Passive Prior to level 6. Once you have ult up push him to his turret. Respect his early damage.
Ekko
If it is an Ekko top you should probably play it more or less the same. Early passive Level 6 Agro.
Elise
!!!!THIS IS A JUNGLER THIS IS A JUNGLER!!!! When they have an Elise she will typically camp top and make your life hell. not much to do besides ward. (Just play more passive when Elise is out of sight) If she does not get fed and they have a pretty normal match up top you should be able to 1v2 easily with ult up. (Post 6)
Fiora
Dashy girl, low threat. When fighting play AGAINST A WALL prevents healing from fiora ult. Bait her W (Riposte) by turning and using Q at her. This can make her think that you are using E. When she is dashing you wait until she is closer to throw E as it gives her less time to dodge.
Play passive prior to 6. After 6 go ham. ONLY IF ULT IS UP.
Fizz
Fizz top is fun, uncommon but fun. Pretty standard and similar to the other types of dashy champions. When he has E up he will be looking to dodge your E. Once again like Fiora Throw a Q in his direction to bait his E and wait until he lands to throw E.
Your ult can dodge Fizz's knock up from his ult so you can avoid some CC.
Prior to 6 play passive, Post 6 push him under turret. When ult is up.
Galio
Very uncommon top but will appear once in a blue moon.
When he is 6 ping his level every once and a while to let them know he might be looking to ult into another lane.
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Gangplank
This lane can go either way as your job is to stop his barrel game. If you can stop him from getting too many barrel attacks on you, you should win.
Ping his Level every once and a while to remind your team that he has global ult.
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Garen
With Garen it should be super winnable however with the speed he has it might be impossible to actually finish him off.
He can out trade you heavily early on and will bully you prior to 6.
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Gnar
Hard to win this one but still doable. When he is small he is 100% an extreme threat but when he is big he falls under even. Don't let him poke you too much. only fight him when your ult is up and he is big.
Good target for flash ult when you E his tiny form. Back off and let him get closer to his spirit.
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Gragas
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Not much to say for this one. pretty easy very standard.
Heimerdinger
You will lose this lane. If you play other champions do not play illaoi into Heimerdinger.
Post 6 only play agro if you land E and can flash ult on top of him.
If the heimerdinger is bad you might be able to kill him with Youmuu's however I recommend building whatever will help your team more in team fights.
Irelia
Dashy Girl pretty easy. RESPECT LEVEL 2 POWER SPIKE. Do not try to play agro here as she will be able to massively out damage you in a trade.
Post 6 should be super free as long as you hit an E on her.
Jarvan IV
Standard Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Not much to say about him besides when his ult is up it traps him too so you can E ult him pretty easily.
Jax
Standard Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
When He uses his E just shoot your E on him. When he is using it during your ult W the spirit not him as the Tentacles will not slam.
Jayce
Dodge the game? They buffed him too. Haven't come across any jayce's since his buff so I don't know how strong he is right now.
I know he was able to kite and make your life hell previously and I know that the general consensus between illaoi players is hatred for jayce I don't have much recommendation.
Kennen
Hard to deal with due to his speed and his range. Max Q and wait for a gank if your jungler is willing. Build Maw of Malmortius If the Kennen is bad and you think you can win
Kled
I like playing against a kled and I typically win against them too. This is a black cleaver match up for the extra health as well as the CD reduction.
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up. If he lets you poke him down prior to level 6 and lose his mount you can play agro.
Lucian
Lucian top eats illaoi, pretty badly too. If he is bad you could build youmuu's however I recommend something like Guardian Angel first item due to the Armour as well as the ability to Stop watch before you finish the item.
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 kills come from flash ulting him on top of his spirit.
Malphite
Prior to 6 passive. Post 6 agro when ult is up.
Super easy match up but respect his early trades. Your ult can be used to dodge his ult.
Malzahar
When Malzahar is top he can spawn his voidlings and make it almost impossible for you to get an E on him. When you do you should be able to win the trades. Consider buying QSS if you get ahead due to Malzahar ult being able to suppress you for so long.
Prior to 6 passive Post 6 Agro.
Mordekaiser
This should be a pretty even match up with the most recent nerf to Mordekaiser. However due to his ult you should probably buy QuickSilver Sash. Wait until he uses his ult on you before ulting because it removes your tentacles from the map as well. Your ult can technically stop Mordekaiser ult if you time it right however don't bet on it.
Nasus
He out scales you and can do a lot of damage however in laning and in mid game you should be able to bully him. Respect early levels and wait for 6 before playing aggressive.
Nautilus
Eat this dude for breakfast. Nautilus top will never win against you however don't get cocky and wait for level 6 to play Agro. Your ult can be used to dodge his ult.
Nocturne
Nocturne top is pretty easy however due to his shield you need to W or Q him before throwing your E.
Standard Prior to 6 passive Post 6 Agro.
Olaf
I like Olaf and they don't like me. Very standard Passive levels 1-5 only go for fights once you have R up.
You should be able to take him as long as he isn't too far ahead.
Ornn
He's a tank and can poke you pretty decently. Play with a brain and you shouldn't lose this match up.
Post 6 is the only time you should contest him.
Pantheon
He can burst you pretty well however you should be able to crush this dude.
He might be able to poke a lot with his spears but after level 6 you will be able to crush him.
Poppy
I like Poppy and Poppy doesn't much care for me so what to do is stay away from walls and play passive prior to level 6. Once you are 6 you can dodge Poppy's ult with yours as well as kill her very easily.
Quinn
Dodge this game.
Ninja tabis first item. Go tank for the team. Swap lanes with mid if you can.
Renekton
He will be SUPER agro prior to 6. Just watch him flip out that you won't contest him then. play passive, and don't follow your minions too far into the lane if they start heading towards his tower.
After you get level 6 is where you cream him.
Rengar
Prior to level 6 is where he will be CONSTANTLY diving minions from the bushes. just don't even contest it. let him flip out and push his minions under his turret. If you have an E on him while he is invisible you can still see him.
Once you get 6 you can play agro HOWEVER you need to make it so you aren't too close to bushes when you don't have ult up.
Riven
I really like going against Rivens. Once you hit 6 you can actually bully them however do not throw your E out willy nilly as they will chase you down and murder you.
Rumble
I like the Rumble match up and it is very standard. Just don't contest prior to level 6 and when he ults you don't stand in it.
Ryze
Ryze top is the absolute worst besides Quinn and Vayne. Dodge the game or swap lanes with your mid laner. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT if you are against a Vayne, Quinn, or Lucian top and Ryze is mid you have a much easier time going against him in mid lane than you would on top.
Play super passive prior to level 6 after 6 play passive as well however you can potentially win the if you are mid against him.
Sett
Honestly Sett is a pretty easy champion to beat if you play around your abilities. Trading early is his specialty and his sustain is much higher due to him not having mana costs and his passive healing.
Play super passive and be willing to give up CS to maintain presence in lane. If you have to back at 500 gold and use TP he basically already has you at a disadvantage.
Shen
Prior to 6 passive Post 6 Agro.
Super standard just ping his level to remind people of his teleport (his R).
Respect his early damage but once you hit 6 you win.
Singed
You can dodge his toss with your ult but don't try to fight him in his smoke as you will die. You should win this lane no problem however you can't really chase him down.
Sion
You do a lot to him once you hit 6 however due to his tankyness you need to play passive until you can ult him.
If you do get him you should probably try to get away from his corpse as it might be able to kill you after death.
Teemo
You probably lose this lane. I usually ban teemo because I hate him that much.
Tryndamere
Save ult for him to all in you. If he does try to land an E/break his spirit. This should give you enough time to begin running away.
A Phage is a really good first back against him for the extra speed it grants. Using Fleeted Footwork will also grant additional speed to be used to flee his ult.
He has great trading early and will be able to lvl 1 kill you if you play too aggressive.
Wait until 6 to fight him.
Urgot
He does a bit of damage to you but you should win this lane no problem. Wait until 6 before engaging him. After 6 you should win the fight no problem.
Vayne
Dodge the game or see if you can swap lanes with Mid.
Ninja Tabis work super well against her however she will win against you basically no matter what.
Vladimir
Vlad isn't all that dangerous right now against Illaoi. Your sustain with Q's and Corrupting potion should be more than enough. If you cast your E there is a high likelihood that he will use his W to escape. His W has a much lower cooldown than your E, so he may dive you after. Go for E's after killing creeps as they may not expect it at much. He is a Hyper Carry so try not to feed him.
Wait until 6 to play too aggressive.
Volibear
I like him he hates me. Easy win however you need to respect his early damage and wait until 6.
Yasuo
I hate yasuo but he isn't broken. Try to bait his wind wall before throwing E as it will block it. His Windwall will however not block your Q or tentacles at all and you should be able to win if you land E when you have ult.
Use your Ult to dodge his knock up as it prevents his ult from going off.
Yorick
His creeps block your E and he can trap you. This is a hard lane however despite it being hard you can still win this one. If you personally don't like him it might be a worthy dodge.
Zed
THIS IS A MID LANER THIS IS A MID LANER
As Zed is terrible to go against when playing anywhere if you have a terrible match up top and they have Zed you should really just dodge.
Illaoi
Illaoi is strong once she hits 6 however once the game gets to where people are fully built she drops off. So if you can carry the game carry it quickly!

Hi, I'm BeautifulWinter and I was a Gold Illaoi one-trick last season (Season 9) with 200K mastery points on her.
If you want me to add a champion to the threats/synergies just leave a comment asking about them and I'll try my best to answer your question.
Why Illaoi?
Playing Illaoi is pretty simple to learn however playing her to a decent level is harder to do as people will play more Ranged champions that obliterate Illaoi. Overall I recommend that people learn Illaoi to better understand wave management and realize how important it is to pay attention to the minions.
Illaoi is also good at punishing tanks/annoying bruisers like Aatrox or Urgot which may annoy whichever champions you play currently.
Illaoi is a Bruiser who focuses on punishing other Melee champions.
Abilities
Illaoi is a Champion with a unique passive that places Tentacles every 20-12 seconds They have the same range as Illaoi's Q and do the same damage that her Q does (scaling with the Q's increase to Tentacle damage). These Tentacles will slam whenever Illaoi casts W at a target that is in range for the Tentacles to slam. They will also slam on a medium cooldown towards A spirit from Illaoi E. Each Tentacle also Heal power heals Illaoi for 5% missing health if it hits at least one enemy Champion icon champion.
Illaoi Q is an ability that casts in a straight line a Tentacle that deals 10 − 180 (based on level) (+ 120% AD) (+ 40% AP). This means that you should never build AP as the AP damage is pathetic compared to AD. This Ability also heals you proportionally to how much HP you have as well as how many targets you hit.
Illaoi W is an ability that will cause the champion to leap to the target if at a range or do an unstoppable melee if within Auto-Attack Range. This ability also commands Passive Tentacles within attack range to slam on the target. For instance if you begin a Leaping W at a champion and they flash away, the W will proc on their location as of where they took damage.
Illaoi E is the only ability that makes this champion viable. Your E is you life-line before you have your R as it may be the only thing that prevents a Super strong pre-6 champion from killing you right off the bat.
Your E casts a projectile in a direction stopping at the first enemy hit. If the target is a Champion it pulls their 'spirit' and places it in front of illaoi. The spirit is the same health(armour and MR too) as the enemy at the time it was pulled and redirects a portion of the pre-mitigation damage received to the tethered champion (25/30/35/40/45% +8% per 100 AD). If the spirit is destroyed it sends the spirit back to the host and marks them as a Vessel. As a Vessel it makes the Passive Tentacles spawned attack (5.5/4.5 /3.5 based on level) the target as well as spawn more tentacles (5/4/3 based on level).
Illaoi R is an Unstoppable leap in the air which then lands on the ground spawning a Tentacle nearby for each Champion/Decoy/Spirit nearby. These and all other Tentacles nearby become untargetable and will strike more quickly and at half cooldown should a Vessel be within attack range. Illaoi W cooldown is also halved during this duration.
