Introduction

Welcome ladies gentleman and more to the Kled guide of dreams. Want to learn how to use the cantankerous cavalier and his cowardly lizard to the full potential? Then your at the right place. Below are all the basics of how to use him and carry yourself through the elo ladder, or just to have fun.

Also dont be afraid to deviate from my build just a little bit, different situations call for different strategies.

Runes and Masteries.

Nothing overly complex here. Putting power into Kled's early game with flat damage / resistance runes and masteries are just pretty good all around. As i said, everything here is pretty basic and not out of the ordinary.

Items Part 1 'introduction'

Kled has a massive amount of build options but there are 2 mandatory items you need to go every game no matter the situation. Ravenous or Titanic hydra. While black cleaver is very much an amazing item with Cdr and a good mix of offensive / defensive stats, sometimes it isn't really worth it. An example would be when VS a magic damage team comp, rushing items like maw of Malmortius, spirit visage, adaptive helm etc take precedence and are 10 times more useful. Of course if your absolutely in need of the stats black cleaver has then its a perfectly good item.

Don't forget, Kled and skaarl combined have the highest base health in the game which is what makes titanic hydra so good on him since more health = more damage, but similarly to Illaoi, Kled has extremely high ad scalings that make you think, maybe building raw damage is just more worth it? which in that case ravenous hydra may be an ample substitute.

Items Part 2 'Is crit viable?'

Basic question basic answer. Crit is absolutely viable on Kled as it synergises with your W insanely well. I wouldn't advice going too overboard on the damage though as you will lack survivability in the form of raw health and resistances or damage. I advice going crit items if your either extremely far ahead and want to focus more on split pushing. Team-fighting isn't the worst however if you already have a diver frontline to engage for you like Jarvan, Maokai, Vi, Etc, otherwise being the only engage for your team with this damage orientated build is extremely risky, and Hard CC can destroy you.

In fact the crit build i have above is borrowed from a diamond Kled one trick, and with some of my own experimenting i can conclude that it is weirdly good.

Items Part 3 'Lifesteal Kled'

Onto my favourite Kled build, and used by some pro's in the past. Lifesteal kled is a very interesting build, in the sense that you do insane amounts of damage while being similar to Fiora in terms of being insanely difficult to kill, and having massive burst / consistent damage. Lifesteal kled also gives you something that no other kled build can really help with, and thats being able to remount skaarl with no problems whatsoever. Your ability to survive skyrockets and counters the likes of sustain champions like Vladimir, and Aatrox extremely well.

Keep in mind, this isn't an all powerful build, like the crit build you suffer from hard CC, because how are you meant to get any health back if you cant even auto attack? I don't recommend doing this build without a mercurial scimitar if the enemy have lots of CC or at *least* mercury treads.

Items Part 4 'Tank Kled'

Not bad, not great, pretty good actually as long as your not vs a Yi, Kog'maw, GangPlank, Vayne any of these armour penetration / max health damage champions. Otherwise you make a great frontline for your team and actually still deal amazing damage due to titanic hydra.

Items part 5 'Why I dislike certain items'

Deaths Dance: Not as powerful as thought to be on Kled, since that damage conversion is turned into true damage, and since you get beefy through armour and magic resist, less so health, it is actually worse in the long run. Bloodthirster is just a safer option overall unless you plan to go triple lifesteal, which even then i recommend blade of the ruined king over deaths dance.

Frozen Mallet: Completely useless item in my opinion. you already have so much stickiness as Kled, this item is basically a waste. The raw stats it gives could be better, but this is personal opinion don't forget.

Any Support Item: Again, personal opinion, but unless you have a 20/2 Vayne and your Mundo support is building 6 Warmogs, i don't recommend going any support items. mainly because i think as Kled you need to be a bit more selfish in your playstyle and raw tank / damage stats help achieve that.

Duskblade: Just kinda overkill to be honest. Something like Youmuus or edge of night would be a little more efficient, and the passives are also more useful. However duskblade is definitely still viable to some extent. Especially with the recent changes it works much better then it used too, especially if your going a more assassin style.

Team-fighting

Team-fighting is something Kled can definitely do, has good engage, good frontline, can be an assassin style champ with the more damage heavy builds. He can also prove to be a nuisance in the enemy backline and easily kill priority targets.

However, split pushing with Kled is much more potent as your 1v1 potential is through the roof and you take towers extremely fast thanks to your W, violent tendencies.

Strengths and Weaknesses of Kled

Strengths:
- Amazing early and mid game

- Decent late game with the right build

- Good teleport ganks

- Can roam mid easily at lvl 6

- Good teamfight engage

- Decent Disengage

- Fits into almost every team composition

Weaknesses:
- When Kled gets hard countered, he gets *hard* countered. avoid contact with Fiora Shen and Mordekaiser if possible. These champions can decimate you.

- Can fall off mid / late game if you have a terrible build or just fall behind, pretty obvious but thought I would highlight it anyway.

- If you miss your skill-shots, you can and *will* be kited. Beware Kite reliant champions if you cant hit your abilities.

- Takes quite a few games for some people to get used to the whole 'the lower you are the more you want and *need* to fight' but is an easy concept to grasp after a while.

While it seems I've written more about disadvantages than advantages, its nothing to worry about as they are all very minor flaws that 'can' happen.

Farming

Try not to waste your E or W on farming of possible. your Q gets to a pretty short cooldown very quickly, and the only way you can really push your insane early game is with a full rotation of all 3 of your abilities, which hurt like hell against the right opponents. Of course more irritating matchups like Teemo and Shen are very difficult to do this against.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Kled is a jack of all trades, master of none. Unless there is a trade which involves violently mauling an adc to deaths and screaming at every single champion in this game to get the hell off of your land.

Keep in mind, this is my first guide and any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is going to be constantly updated so anything that i forgot to add, or is unnecessary just tell me down below and i will add or get rid of it ASAP. once again, i thank you all very much and good luck becoming challenjour with this beginners guide to kled.
