Recently I was considering downvoting a guide, but eventually decided to leave it be without voting. I am aware that you are able to change your vote, but what if I wanted to cancel my downvote, but not upvote the guide either (and vice versa)?

I was wondering if a feature that allowed you to remove your vote from a guide would be a possibility. I think it would be nice to be able to remove a silly vote I've cast without being forced to vote the opposite direction.

Does anyone else think this would be a good idea? Would anyone make use of it besides me? Would it be easy enough to implement, or would it require too much effort (I realize the mods and admins are quite busy)?

Let me know what you think.
Thanks to Jovy for the sig!

You delete your vote/comment on a C2V guide and the vote is gone. Otherwise, nothing doing.
I also do not think I, personally, would ever use that. It's like saying, "I hate those clothes you're wearing," having someone else say they look good and then you saying half an hour later, "Forget what I said about your clothes," and then they do and they have an inflated sense of... "pride" if you will. It's just not practical.

That confused the **** out of me. I don't get where the "pride" came from.

I wasn't necessarily referring to votes with a comment. I didn't change my mind based on other voters or anything, I think I was just in a bad mood or something. Also, online interaction is way different than personal interaction. You can't delete a comment irl. ;)

From my perspective, you have three ways to assess a guide:
1. Upvote the guide because you like it and think it should have a good score and be noticed.
2. Downvote the guide because you think it's bad and is more misleading than helpful (or whatever reason).
3. Abstain, casting no vote at all. This could be because you don't know enough to judge it, you're on the fence, or you haven't read it. There could be other reasons as well.

You can alternate between the first two options, but there's no way to abstain from affecting the guide once you've voted. If an 80% guide is "meh," I would probably not vote on it either way. There's no way to do that if you "accidentally" voted.

Maybe I'm just being unrealistic and this isn't a big deal. I just think it would be a nice feature to have.

I think that would be useful,
I usually never vote on guides because I'm extremely picky when it comes to looks, and the build itself.
I would have no problem down-voting if I could change it later on, critiquing it and them taking in my advice.

People change their build almost all the time, and so should the vote.

I thought of this a few times myself, but never bothered mentioning it.

And no, it was changed a while back that if you vote on a c2v guide, then delete your comment, the vote still stays. I tried doing that a few days ago, actually.

Plus, c2v is auto-off after 20 votes; a lot of guides have more than 20 votes >_>

I support this.

For instance, a few days ago, a Kat guide was rly bad, I -1'd and gave advice and they listened, but it still wasn't good enough to deserve a +1 from me imo, but not bad enough to warrant a -1. So I deleted the vote...and nothing.

For all practical intents and purposes, a neutral vote is useless and unhelpful. You're choosing to not contribute.

The world isn't black and white, but in this case, its better to just pick a side.
In such a case, either; the guide is bad with a few good points, or good with a few bad points.

Pick the side you feel more strongly about and roll with it. It'll help out the rankings of guides in the grand scheme of things.

The way I see it, if a guide isn't good enough for a +1 then it deserves a -1.

Try imagining a guide with all Neutrals instead of Pluses or Minus.
That's probably just as useless as a guide full of Minus. Just less objectionable. Not exceptional or worth looking at in any way.

-Imagines a wave of comments that paraphrase: "Mneh, nothing special. No Minus-One, you just get a Zero from me" So very bleak...-
