From what I've seen of the Jan season of anime, Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta really stands out.
Others like Buddy Complex and D Fragments are also quite interesting.
Honestly, I dropped "Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta" (english title "The Pilot's Love Song"). While it's interesting, and gives me some distinct Last Exile vibes, it was hella boring. I don't even know what's wrong. I just know that after two episodes, I couldn't give half a **** about it. Which means that it didn't draw me in, which makes it simply fail as a work of fiction. It's not bad, per se. It just didn't give me a reason to care about it. And honestly, I consider that far worse.
"Buddy Complex" has basically the same issue, for me. Concept is vaguely interesting, but I just couldn't find a reason to care all that much about it. After two episodes, I'm not really willing to hazard any more of my time.
"D Fragments" (aka "D-Frag!") is pretty bad. It's just a really, really weak comedy. That said, I'm still watching it but not the two above. It falls very heavily into the Japanese style of straight-man-yelling-stuff-to-make-the-joke-obvious comedy, which just doesn't work for me. I can understand the appeal of the show, but the execution is really poor. I suggest skipping it, unless you're a total glutton for anime.

Yeah, im really waiting for something big to happen in log horizon. maybe the incoming war will be it. and I called it SAO-style cause i havent seen the other one. I only watch a few animes so my anime dictionary is a little short :P
its true that the art isnt great but at the same time I feel like what it is as an anime is good enough that it doesn't matter too much

Sooo, here's my roundup of my recently read manga:
Koe No Katachi - a series about a disabled girl from the perspective of her bully. This is amazing. So ****ing good, this is easily one of my favorites now, up there with Shingeki No Kyojin and Berserk.
The art is great characters are believable and the pacing is really well done.
I'm honestly struggling to find faults with it. It's just really damn good.
It doesn't matter if you're into drama series, you should just read this anyway. Seriously, just go read it.
Wata****achi no Shiawase na Jikan - It's a good slice of drama. It's a short piece, only spanning 8 chapters total. It has some fairly depressing themes and handles them pretty well. It is a tad bit pretentious at times, but it's bearable.
The art is pretty weak, but it's carried by the story and the pacing.
I would recommend reading it.
Ore Monogatari!! - A cute little shoujo series. The art is decent, the humor is great and the love is bubbly. It's pretty good overall. Give it a look.
Shokugeki no Soma - a shounen about food porn... in both the figurative and literal meanings of the term. It's a cooking shounen. Take your stereotypical shounen and replace the fighting with cooking and add some extra T&A and you're got Shokugeki no Soma. The cooking part is actually fairly interesting, but characters are bland and overall story is pretty lackluster.
Any time there's a female character eating food you'll get a visualized view of that female being PG-13-raped by the food she's eating.
At least the art is pretty good. But that doesn't save this series. It's extremely mediocre. Don't bother reading this one.

Soooo, I just read 12 volumes of I Am A Hero in a day.
That was interesting.
I read 3 volumes of it a few years back and I quite liked it so I decided to pick it up again, re-reading the entire thing.
It's a survival horror focused mostly on a person with schizophrenia (I think, I'm not sure of the exact definition).
It definitely got me hooked and there were a few really cool moments, but let me warn you: this manga is pretty weird. Not Aku No Hana levels or anything, but plenty weird still.
It has no qualms about showing almost anything. It's not for people that are easily disgusted.
Aside from a few questionable cases of motivation it's really good. I've never read anything quite like it.
It's a breath of fresh air, a very unique series and I would definitely recommend it if you don't have any qualms about gore or nudity.
I also read a lot of Silver Spoon. It's getting even better. I'd give that a recommendation too. It's a comedy/slice of agricultural life.
It's... It's really good. Your link got me. Thanks.
Glad to see that.

"I also am Otherkin. Whenever autumn rolls around I can feel my kin-type slowly taking over my body. You must know, I identify as pumpkin. I can control it pretty good most of the time, but when September ends, I just cant hold it in anymore. Whenever Im outside I see my brothers and sisters being chopped into soup, coffee, donuts, cake, drinks, bread - ppl even cut human faces into their skin, making a mockery out of their noble appearance. When I see things like that I cant control my pumpkin urges anymore. My natural instincts kick in. I then sit down motionless, while getting bright orange." - Morgana L

I have gained interest in high school animes. Is there like top 3 shows that are a must watch ? Preferably quite new ones.

apart from that:
My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected is quite funny to watch, the LN is great too.
About Manga/Anime in general:
What I've found recently: American Ghost Jack quite a good read, it is still in the early stages but it seems like a great Manwha.
I also read Koe no Katachi. It was kinda meh at the beginning but became greater the more I read :p
And big news (if no one posted it yet, I didn't read the past pages):
All You Need Is Kill the Manga (so the LN aswell) are getting a Hollywood adaption!
Here it is: Edge of Tomorrow Trailer 1
Tho one has to say (quoted from a YT comment:)
Quoted:
Awesome light novel get's released in 04, some screenwriter makes an adaptation of it, and that's bought and rewritten by half a dozen people, going through the Hollywood usual meat grinder, and what comes out is the same amazing premise wrapped around a generic Hollywood story.
