Thank you for my love of tanks =]
One is that this is a good guide, but, unfortunately, there can be no permanent item-build for Rammus, as you have to adapt to enemy team's damage. The only thing for sure is that you should start out with Philosopher's and then go for Heart of Gold.
The second thing is, all offered item-builds for Rammus are bad, as they ignore Warmog's, which adds much more survivability aka Effective Health than any other item in the game, when you put it on a tank with so much AR/MR.
Example from this guide, Anti-Magic item list results in:
Hit Points 1968 3111 (+1143)
Health Regen (per 1) 2.98 2.98 (+0)
Physical Damage Health 3727.39 11546.4 (+7819)
Magical Damage Health 2558.4 11457.81 (+8899.41)
Effective Health 3142.9 11502.1 (+8359.21)
If you swap Aegis or any other item with Warmog's you'll come up with(aegis->warmogs info from leaguecraft):
Hit Points 1968 4211 (+2243)
Health Regen (per 1) 2.98 11.98 (+9)
Physical Damage Health 3727.39 14340.45 (+10613.06)
Magical Damage Health 2558.4 13866.82 (+11308.42)
Effective Health 3142.9 14103.64 (+10960.74)
Which is 1) lots of extra HP regeneration 2) 14103/11502 = 122,6% of tankiness compared to Aegis build. I'd most likely swap-out QS-sash, as you already have Merc Treads, so the active on QS-sash is not as useful on Rammus.
* All calculations without DBC activated. Runes and Masteries included.
warmogs is not a ****.
higher is your armor and magic resist you reduce less and less damage when stacking more.
example: got 300 armor = reduce 75% of psyhical damage 400 armor = recude 81% of psyhical damage. ONLY 6%!!!!!
better buy warmogs than stacking more armor and magic resist.
of course do it later game.
Also late game you can sell AotL for better item.

I really liked taunt; being able to pull people out of their turret near end game when they're hiding/trying in vain to defend their base was amazing. The cooldowns felt ridiculously low...only issue was mana until we did baron.
I didn't really follow the builds all that much, aside from HoG and Merc. Treads (and starter items), but like I said, it ended up not really mattering that game. I've yet to play any tanks before, so I'm sure I'll have to test around and get a feel for the different tank oriented items before I know *exactly* what to buy. Guardian Angel saved me in 2 very key situations, however...very helpful. Came back for the kill after both times because the enemies focused on me so much.
Enough with the lengthy nonsense though, I tend to ramble, hehe. My final score was 11-4-15 in a 40 - 24 game.
Created an account just to post this. :D
ANYWHO, I took the time to finally create an account on this site after reading this guide. Very, very, very, well done Bg. I have much appreciation for what you've created. I've looked through most of the top rated guides- yours is by far best I've personally seen. And Jeb! Bravo bringing it here! Your additions and input seem invaluable. You both work quite well together. :)
One thing about LOL that differs for me from most other games is I have been leaning towards tank classes (usually ranged dps). I've played through about 3-4 so far and love them all... but holy cow I had no idea what was in store with Rammus! First game after just reading the guide (did a bot match to practice) I did 19/0/8. Felt a lot better than a few of the other tanks too. Thank you so much for the work you've put into it. Well worth spending hours reading in the middle of the night so I can post @ 3:30am! :)
This is a good GUIDE but not a good build. The original standard set isn't too effective in general. and the item section just basically says all tanking items are good tanking items.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us - score thanks to smart Vayne and smart play.
Very true. Based on this fact idk if i should up or down vote. The Guide is very extensive with lots of details. I cant down vote work like that +1 to you. Next time have a better item set.
