Basically when you autoattack if you give no further orders your champion will simply stand there doing nothing for like a second afterward during the autoattack 'cooldown'. As soon as you see the projectile leave your weapon you can move around freely during this time instead with no DPS penalty. It's most useful when chasing someone to stay in range or when kiting during teamfights, especially when you have low attack speed.
S'probably a good idea to learn it at least at a basic level if you really want to get into AD. Aphromoo is very good at it, so you could try to pay careful attention to what he does during fights and copy it. Using attack move is not necessary if you find it more difficult, I usually end up not using it myself. It generally takes some practice to learn the exact timing on the attack animations for different champions.

Like many others, I love watching Aphromoo play. I typicaally never wanted to play AD carry, because I felt like alot of my games were decided in the first 20 minutes or so, and as ADC you couldnt have that much impact on those early games. However, watching aphromoo play, the way he just dominates teamfights, made me interested in trying to learn to play ADCs.
A few troubles I foresee though. As it stands now, I am definitely not the most mechanically skilled player (don't have the best micro skills). I hear everyone always talking about orb-walking or animation cancelling, and how important it is for an ADC. I keep seeing it mentioned, but I have no idea how to execute it. I understand that I'm supposed to walk in between autoattacks, but how do you actually do it? I try to right click to move and then A-click right after it, but it just is so herky jerky, i end up being LESS effective.
And would you say it is totally necessary to learn skills like this in order to play ADC effectively? Thanks!
Orbwalking is a quite troublesome thing to do on a regular basis, but in order to better, you have to master that, too.
Anyway, try to pay close attention to what the pros do when they're playing and also learn last-hitting. ADCs spend all their early game getting the farm needed to become a monster in the later stages of the game.
Cheers :)
+Rep pls if I helped! One click doesn't hurt :D Check out my first guide featuring Darius (NEED MOAR VOTEZ)!

I don't play ADC very often, when I do I usually go with KogMaw and MF. MF is great to practice this skill with because of her passive. I had never heard of orb walking until recently and realized I was already doing it anyways. It's almost like learning the rhythm of your champion and keeping your farming/attacking dynamic, like Luther said, as soon as you auto attack, you keep on moving to give some rhythm to your game. It makes it easier to farm and engage, it also makes you harder to target and maximizes your attack speed. Also, a lot of Abilities (I could be wrong though) reset your auto attack. learn to play with that as well.
