Views: 4309 Mids you shouldn't be playing in ranked

Tier list is coming. In the mean time, here are some ap champs you should never play in mid, and possibly just never ever if you want to climb. Most of these will be 'duh', but some might surprise you. Let me know your opinion in the comments.
List w/ quick explanations;
Swain - He's not a mid anymore. Practically every mid champ outranges and dumpsters him. Play someone else
Brand - Ziggs is way better
Anivia - this may surprise you, but it may not. Her roam is non existent and her waveclear and farming isn't a big enough deal anymore.
Galio - he's useless. Ult too easy to break, laning is too weak, skillshots cost too much mana and are almost impossible to hit on someone that moves around like, ever.
LeBlanc - epic high skillcap and i've never seen anyone in gold or below play her right. if you play her and have around 50 cs in 20 minutes, stop playing leblanc.
Lissandra - same as swain, she can't fight back against most mids. If you want to play a passive lane vs a passive opponent like ziggs, you can play her and farm. She doesn't really beat anyone in lane except a couple melees.
Sion - too easy to outplay him. if his shield gets broken, he loses the entirety of his deeps.
Talon - you can if you want, but I've contested that he's a strictly worse ad mid than zed and pantheon, and now definitely yasuo. sorry vape.
Viktor - clunky, and doesn't have a huge impact even when fed. His ultimate is amazing when you're ahead, but playing from behind is pointless.
Zyra - MS is so sloooow and her snare suuuuuuuucks
Zilean - rofl
Mordekaiser - I love morde. His laning phase is trash and his mid and late aren't much better. Having no CC hurts. too easy to gank, too easy to shut down. If he had higher ratios and revolver upgraded into something useful, I'd say go 4 it.
Veigar - Extremely risky. You're pretty much a 1 for 1 in teamfights. Even when fed, you can only kill 1 person before ducking and covering for 7 seconds waiting for cd's. If you want a burst caster, take annie mid. She functions similarly with a DFG, but she does it to a whole team while stunning them.
Lee Sin - play riven instead
Disclamer: With dedication and hard work, you can climb with these champs. Your climb will be much more difficult, but there is at least 1 mordekaiser main in diamond 1. There aren't any underpowered champs, but some champs definitely have stronger kits than others. Also this is my opinion.
List w/ quick explanations;

But I'm bronze so what the hell do I know, right?
I just thought of this as a general list and didn't realize it was only for mid lane. Wow, sorry xD
I meant
Sorry for not being attentive :/
EDIT: I've never really been punished while playing liss. She can still poke with smart positioning and cooldown management, unless you're vs like a ziggs with blue buff. He uses Q to shove lane, you use it to shove it back AND poke him in the process. Again, this must be due to the amazing silver skill level xD
And anivia is just really really strong from what I've seen in my games. If you hit a single Q+E with a bit of ap you practically half health people in half a sec xD (100% ap scaling on two abilities op)
I cannot for the life of me understand how Zyra, Anivia, Lissandra and Lee Sin got in this list o-o
He explains that more than well enough but I'll elaborate.
Anivia is also in the same boat of being too slow and her main CC being too easy to dodge.
Lissandra has uber epic low range and is a diving mage. She's easily punished for her entire playstyle unless shes allowed to poke the enemy, as Throat says, she can only do this to a few melees.
I think Lane Lee just sucks, but Throat suggests Riven because she's just 100% better than him as a damage dealer in every way. Her damage doesnt fall off the face of the earth at 25 minutes. Basically its a case of him being too difficult to play for what little rewards you get for playing him this way over Riven.
EDIT: Reasoning:
Zyra: Her snare is great, her seeds provide so much vision control and her damage, especially with s4 gold flow is almost as good as annie's. As long as you know how to land the snare you can peel like no other, and a snare on 2-3 people+ult is amazing.
Anivia: Strong waveclear, great passive and super super high scalings. Her wall, when used right, is absolutely game changing.
Lissandra: Broken ganks and good laning phase. I haven't found myself losing lane unless I derp early and fall behind. Her passive allows for easy mana management, she has good wave clear and can follow up on ganks better than most mid laners.
Lee Sin: He's just a cruise control champ that can control the flow of the fight at all times. He just does so much so well. Sure, riven is great but you really can't make the plays you could with lee.
kat is actually fotm right now. expect to see her.
"Great Poke
Good lanephase vs AD assassins/some popular picks (Ziggs, Zed, Kha, Talon)
Great for good teams since his shield is MASSIVELY good. 90 MR/Armor on a pretty short cooldown."
Omg ur high. His poke is **** outside lanephase, and mediocre in lane phase. It does a billion damage early, but it's hard to hit and late the range is too short and the aoe too small to be impactful. His poke is really bad.
Good vs ad assassins? Not in my experience. You can take a lot of punishment, but you can't necessarily fight back. All ad assassins are gapclosers and you don't have a way of escaping a gank so, expect to die, flash, or get chunked for free often.
Shield massively good? please. It will allow your carry to absorb a bit more damage, sure, but usually if they get touched they're smoked anyways and/or cc locked to death. Best case scenario is they escape with a sliver, but whether that happens or they die, they're still out of the fight. Put it on a tank and the extra damage mitigated is negligible. The shield sounds amazing out loud, but on paper and in practice, it's OK.
Galio is really really bad. His ult can be huge, but that's about it
his poke is only **** if you can't hit it imo, still good to chunk people who have shorter range than you/the adc. I generally use W to counter burst champions like the ones I mentioned before, because they can't deal with it at all - it's not meant to save someon from 5 champions, just one.
Melee means your Q's are easier to hit, and when they try to burst you you throw on W or ult them. Never lost lane vs an ad assassin, so idk.
Malz's greatest spells is probably the pool and it's so hard to get people to stick over it. He has pretty decent AoE doe, but brand and ziggs perform better on that field.
He's still pretty fun to play.
Actually, individually, all of his spells are amazing. Give the W to someone else and slap some mobility on that W and he's 100% playable.
His spells are good, his passive is great, but he's a bad champ. go figure.
Gang has some bad spells. His ult is underwhelming, his E is underwhelming. his passive is underwhelming
I thought u was challngr breh
yeah, that's right.
challenger can't deal with them cause they've never seen them b4.
You heard it from MegaZero first.
Her damage late game is gigantic. If you have ever looked at professional mid players this week, you'd have seen lots of katarina play. Her laning is garbage but damn once she gets rolling her damage is through the roof.
Lately i only following the ogn, I'm going to pay atention to other regions
