This is perhaps a bit off topic to your question since I don't know much about runes, but I prefer to build him tanky + atmas impaler for some dps. This works well for the beginners who die a lot and once u get ur frozen mallet + warmogs, the atmas give u +82 dmg, if you add in a infinity edge, you'll end up with total of 300+ dmg late game and 43% critical hit with 4000+ hp. Hmm maybe I'll make a guide..
I capitalize on early game with full armor pen runes. Blues and yellows are a full armor(yellows) with a little bit of CDR in blues and MR/MR per lv blues(depends on the opponent)
Fast brutalizer for more Armor pen and get Phage->FroMal->Atmas
Throw in some MR item and you have yourself a build! Any HP item works well because of the Atmas. Spirit visage is great because of your passive and Garen uses all of the stats.
