Basic MidLane Guide

Level Management
What is level advantage and how do you abuse it?

You gain experience for being near enemy minions when they die. By killing your opponent's minions faster than they kill yours at critical points, you can get a level advantage for a short period of item.

This gives you access to more damage, and more abilities than your opponent. The most common and easiest levels to abuse are level 2 and level 6.

Aggressive Play:
You push the lane as you are about to level up so that you can level up first and abuse the short timing window to get ahead.

Defensive Play:
You push the lane equally as aggressively as your opponent so that you can level up identically with your opponent. If that is not possible, back away and stay out of their effective damage range.
Standard Lane Positioning

Default positioning:
Behind your minion wave, opposite side of your laner, within maximum auto attack range of the enemy melee minions.

This stays as far away from your enemy laner while still letting your farm safely. If your opponent wants to trade damage with you, they will have to take your melee+range damage on top of your own return damage which will be a naturally winning trade.
Standard Lane Positioning Part 2

This positioning is the equivalent of the standard position but is used depending on what state you want to force and what the lane match up is.

The decisions you make your opponent choose between are:
1) If they want to push the lane in, they cannot trade their spells onto you and the wave. This means you can trade poke onto them for free.

2) If they want to poke you, you can conversely trade your health bar for lane priority to get a better pushing lane.

Farming Under Tower
How to farm minions under tower:
A full health melee minion will die to 1AA (auto-attack) and 2TS (tower shots).
A full health caster minion will die to 2AA and 1TS.

To CS melee minions under tower, wait for the tower to attack it twice and then auto-attack it.

To CS caster minions under tower, auto it before the tower attacks it and attack it again after the tower hits it.
Roaming
When to roam:
- there is a chance to get a kill outside your lane
- you can safely leave your lane without getting solo'd by the enemy jungler or laner

Where to roam:
- out of vision: the potential of being somewhere else on the map is pressure on it's own
- to another lane: when you have potential to make more gold than what you gain by farming your lane

How to counter a roam:
- ward the direction they head to and then push the wave to their tower and go for plates
- follow them safely and try to counter the roam by arriving on time or have your team turn on the roamer
- if your opponent roams a lot, use the anti-roam warding spot and ping as soon as you see them walk into fog in one direction.
General Minimap Awareness
1) Try to be on the opposite side of the map as the enemy jungler. If the enemy jungler starts on the bottom side of the map, stay near the top side. Then when scuttle crab spawns, swap to the other side.

2) Use your jungler as a reference point for what the enemy jungler could be doing.

3) If you are unsure where their jungler is, stay on the same side as your jungler and try to stay near them to make counter ganks easy.

4) If your jungler is in base, play safer as you have no one to help you.

5) Be on the side of the map, where you have more vision.
