Gragas Guide For Newer Gragas Players

By Ban1shed
Information About Gragas
Gragas is really weak early game mostly cause he has low damage and high mana cost and LONG cooldowns this is why you farm with Drunken Rage it increases attack range gives damage reduct and activates your passive ability try not to poke with Q because it cost 80 mana after you level up your q a little bit it will be good for poking

Once you're strong (usually after first recall or level 6) you want to push when you can to assert pressure on your side of the map. Usually if you get ganked you can run away or counter it with Phase Rush. Even if you die,KDA doesnt matter
W Is Your Lifeline
Whenever I can get away with taking W level 1 I do. Your W has low mana cost, damage reduction, an empowered auto attack that is unstoppable, It Synergizes with your healing passive If you take a trade you can sit back, wait for your passive, and get some amazing healing using your W. (Your W itself does not provide a heal, only Damage Reduction)Maximizing the usage of your W and Passive and managing your mana properly will make Quite A Difference In Your Early Days Of Gragas Top Laning
E
It is very important that you play patient and calm. Your E is a powerful tool that can Mess up enemies. Any Champion that can jump on to you ( Riven Irelia Jax Sett ect.) will struggle getting on to you if you can hold and play around your E cooldown. another play you can make with your E is by helping you walk up to the wave to secure CS. Back-off once you've used it so you don't get run down, and then repeat.
Q Is too expensive for early game
Your Q has a large mana cost and will make you lose your mana pool very quickly if you use it. Even though you will be maxing Q,your not gonna want to use it until your making your first recall (usually around Level 5 with 865g+) OR
- You need to use Q to pop Phase Rush to avoid getting ganked
- You need to secure a cannon minion that you cannot get.
- You need the slow for ganking / and securing a kill
Once you've got your Lost Chapter you can start going Super Saiyan on Q poke and look for kills
Basic Phase Rush Combo
You can pop Phase Rush in any order you would like, but if you're playing defensively, you want to W first for the Damage Reduction, E>Auto Attack>W,>Q. Very simple combo. You will do the same thing if you're looking to play aggro.
If you're in a pinch, you can skip using your W and just E>AA>Q for the procc.
AA-E+AA if your Q is down.
AA-Q+AA if your E is down.
AA-AA-R if everything is down and you're on your last leg.
It's important to start with an Auto Attack to guarantee you're within the 4 seconds needed to pop Phase Rush
You can queue up (buffer) a Auto Attack, you can Q>R during your E, so take some time to practice and you'll avoid unhandy combos with much more flowing motions.
Tank Or AP?
I Havent explained either one yet but here i will explain it I think Bruiser AP is always the best way to go as it is a little better then tank gragas.
You can consider Tank Gragas as Your Learning Tool if you're just starting out and want to be useful without needing OP Mechanics and your team has AP(Ability Power) already. Tank is a little more difficult to get the most out of, but a good rule of thumb;
If your team has sufficient AP damage, and NEEDS a frontline, you can opt into Tank.
Otherwise if you have a strong Gragas, AP is always your best option.

IF YOU RUN TELEPORT !IMPORTANT
Teleport usage depends on your situation if your wave is slowly pushing then you should almost ALWAYS tp back to lane because otherwise you will lose a ton of xp and fall behind from an unrecoverable xp difference.
If the enemy wave is slowpushing towards you then you shouldn't tp because the wave automatically comes towards you and you will catch the experience even if you walk.
Usually you want to keep your Teleport to help your team win early fights, this could be game changing. So keep Teleport accordingly.
Combos
You can combo Body Slam + Flash to extend your Body Slam range

W+E animation cancel, you can auto attack an enemy then use your E mid W'S attack animation. It will cancel the rest of your W animation and let you deal damage quicker

you can cast your Q and R during your E ability this will give your opponents barely any time to react to it

W + E + R + Flash + Q full combo
