You are a control mage with huge teamfight potential and utilities, think an Anivia on steroids, YOU ARE NOT A XERATH, doing damage is part of your kit but it is not everything. Play defensively around your aoe spells and peel for teammates

Abilities usage
Q-q (laning phase) : Use for short trade and when the enemy's hp is full
Q-w (looking for cheeky picks) : Use on low hp enemies
Q-e (Teamfight spell and wave clearing) : Use exclusively on big teamfights to hit as many enemies as possible, this takes priority over the other two q's
W-q: extra speed to reposition, chase, disengage,etc
W-w: Use this to peel for your teammates in teamfights
W-e: mana sustain, use on cooldown, especially when trading auto, will proc passive when followed up by any other offensive spells
E-q: disengage single target crowd control
E-w: Zoning root, currently buggy
E-e: Go-to opener to connect your other abilities, extremely fast and hard to dodge, short range being its con
R- your teamfight nuke, use immediately after landing your cc abilities, followed up by q-e (fissure) for max aoe targets

Runes: Dark harvest because you are a teamfight control mage with broken aoe spells
Items synergies:
+1st item: Liandry: ticks with your d-o-t spells, and your passive to proc massive aoe blasts
+2nd: Horizon Focus: boosts your damage hugely, synergize with damage-over-time spells, will later be guranteed with rylais
+3rd: Rylais: Stacks on top of your abilities' inate slows, gurantees horizon proc
+4th: Rabadon: Big pp damage for mages
+5th Demonic: Late game item, enemies will have plenty of hp by now, synergizes with all your kit and items
