Champion Build Guide

Jungle Poppy Guide (2025)

Chapter 1: Itemization
Chapter 1: ITEMIZATION

First of all, we need to know what type of champion is Poppy, the Hero of Yordles.
So, Poppy is a great ingager that deals tons of damage while also being able to tank a few harsh hits. Items like Sunfire Aegis or Hollow Radiance can help lowering the clear time while also dealing damage in fights, that's why i recommend rushing Bami's Cinder after the first clear. DON'T FINISH THE ITEM. After you got Bami's, take the Tier 1 Boots, then your build may vary from matchup to matchup, but i usually go for Eclipse since this item deals a lot of damage and also gives shield from passive.

Boots are really important on Poppy because this champion needs a lot of speed to arrive in fights and repositionate. So the boots are recommend the most are Swiftness Boots.
Magic Resist Boots and Plated Steelcaps are great choices too, but i suggest buying them only when the enemies are heavily based on damage. That's why you buy the Tier 1 Boots early, so you can decide later which boots to buy, based on who is fed or who might trouble you in fights. As example, let's take Nautilus. Poppy is a weak pick against him, but if you get to blind pick against him in a matchup, engaging in fights might be difficult. That's when i would buy the Magic Resist Boots. Second example, let's say the enemy team has like 2 or 3 frontliners that rely on heavy AD damage. I would go for Steelcaps since i don't need a lot of speed to engage on them.

In the end-game, i often build Sundered Sky, Dead Man's Plate and Force of Nature because, as i said earlier, you need SPEED, a lot of it while also being tanky enough to take a lot of hits. I like this build because having Eclipse and Sundered Sky will help you damage the backline easily.
Chapter 2: Clear
Chapter 2: CLEAR

Clearing is a really important factor while playing poppy jungle. This champion is a pretty solid jungler, because your clears are fast and if you get a good tempo, you can achieve the most CS in the match easily.

First Clear:
- I usually start Blue Buff, then go to Gromp, Wolves, Raptors, Red Buff, Krugs; Then look for a gank on either top or bot, depending on he side of map you're playing, or rush for the Scuttle Crab if there's no gank possibility. Your first clear should be finished by 3:20, so you have enough time to reach the Scuttle.
If you want to take Scuttle as fast as possible, use [E] to pin it down to the river wall, [Q] it, then Smite [D]/[F], this should kill it.
Chapter 3: Objectives
Chatper 3: OBJECTIVES

Poppy is a solid jungler when it comes to defending objectives as Drakes and Grubs, because of her [W] which blocks dashes, so champs like Graves, Kha'Zix, Rengar, Diana, Kindred and more are weak against her. There are 3 situations:

1. Early game (Tier 1 Smite)
- When taking Drake and you know the enemies are behind the wall, try using your [W] while being behind the Drake (between Drake and wall) when it has 800HP so you can secure it easily.

2. Mid game (Tier 2 Smite)
- Do the same, but when the Drake has 1100HP.

3. Late game (Tier 3 Smite)
Chapter 4: Matchups
Chapter 4: MATCHUPS

1. Poppy vs Amumu
[-]Threats: His AoE CC in fights, passive %HP damage.
[+]Your Advantage: You can stop his engages, stronger early game.

-Early Game: Amumu is weak early, so invade him or look for duels. He has slow clear -and relies on hitting [Q] to escape/block it with [W].
-Mid-Late Game: He becomes a CC bot. Try to [R] him away before fights or when he engages to disrupt his teamfight.
-Fights: If you block his [Q], he can’t engage properly. If he jumps in, [E] him away from your team and burst him before he applies his passive.

2. Poppy vs Nocturne
[-]Threats: Fear, high burst, strong mid-game.
[+]Your Advantage: Can stop his engage, stronger early duels.

-Early Game: You can win early fights if you deny his passive healing with burst trades. Try to counter-gank when he hits 6—if he [R]’s in, use [W] to stop his follow-up [Q]+[E] combo.
-Mid-Late Game: Nocturne wants to isolate and dive carries. Keep your [R] to peel him off, or just ult him away before he can finish his target.
-Fights: [W] shuts down his [Q] engage, but he can still fear you if he gets close. Look to peel or CC him before he ults.

3. Poppy vs Trundle
[-]Threats: Subjugate steals resistances, strong 1v1, good sustain.
[+]Your Advantage: Can knock him away, stronger early game.

-Early Game: Trundle wins extended fights. Avoid 1v1s unless you’re ahead. Use [W] to block his [E], or he’ll force bad fights.
-Mid-Late Game: Trundle steals your stats, making you weaker. Instead of fighting, [R] him away before he ults.
-Fights: He’s tough to kill, so don’t waste time on him—CC him and move on. Do NOT ult him after he uses [R] (it won’t remove his stolen resistances).

4. Poppy vs Volibear
[-]Threats: Tanky, high burst early, can ignore towers.
[+]Your Advantage: [W] blocks his [Q] engage, better team utility.

-Early Game: Voli is strong early but can be kited. Use [W] when he [Q]’s, and you’ll stop his engage entirely.
-Mid-Late Game: He wants to dive, so be ready to [R] him away from your carries. If he ults into your team, CC him immediately before he can burst someone.
-Fights: He can’t CC you easily if you use [W] well. If he chases you down, [E] him into a wall and disengage.

5. Poppy vs Sejuani
[-]Threats: High CC, tanky late-game, strong ganks.
[+]Your Advantage: You win early duels, can stop her [Q] engage.

-Early Game: Sejuani is weak early. You can invade and duel her if you dodge her [E ]stun. Use [W] to block her [Q] dash, and she won’t escape.
-Mid-Late Game: She becomes a CC machine, but if you [R] her away before fights, she loses her engage power.
-Fights: Block her [Q] with [W], and she’s useless. Don’t waste too much time trying to kill her; she’s too tanky.

6. Poppy vs Nidalee
[-]Threats: High burst, mobility.
[+]Your Advantage: [W] completely shuts her down, you win all-ins.

-Early Game: Nidalee wants to poke and farm. If you fight her, she dies—she has no sustain in melee range. Use [W] to deny her [W], and she’s stuck.
-Mid-Late Game: She falls off if she can’t snowball. Look to invade and punish her early.
-Fights: She will try to poke from range. Just play front-to-back, and if she jumps in, [E] her into a wall and delete her.
