Mid Lux Tutorial Guide
1.Early Stage
In terms of laning, first of all, you are playing Lux in mid-lane, and you are certainly expected to carry in the late game. In the current version, when both sides of the mid-lane are on the same level, Lux has difficulty in gaining an advantage, so she is heavily dependent on the performance during laning. After purchasing items and leaving the base, first, observe whether your team wants to group at level 1. If so, consider learning Q for additional crowd control. If not, learn E for normal laning. Lux's level 1 Q skill in mid lane can be a little damaging and not stable for consistent E and auto-attack harassment. Moreover, there is a high chance of missing Q, and it's not convenient for rushing to level 2.
Playing in mid lane, every game situation varies. I recommend focusing on development. Even if you are targeted, your level and equipment should not lag too much. If you want to find an opportunity to solo kill, first use E to wear down the opponent's health. When the opponent reaches a certain amount of health, go face-to-face, hit them with Q, and complete the kill with a set of skills. Level 3 and 6 are important timing windows for solo kills. If you feel that your skills are not accurate, you can hold on to your skills a bit more, especially Q. Look for opportunities to catch opponents' mistakes. If you miss your Q, move back slightly, find a safe position to gain experience, and move forward again when your cooldown is up.
To summarize: ① Avoid the opponent's skills as much as possible through positioning. ② If you meet champions that are hard to play against or have higher burst damage than you, remember to use E for poke first. In terms of items, you can lean towards defensive ones like Banshee's Veil and Zhonya's Hourglass. ③ You can hold on to your Q skill, releasing it at the most critical moments. When Q is on cooldown, position further back. ④ Be mindful of potential ganks from the opponent and think about how to respond. ⑤ Ensure your own development, even if you are being targeted, your level should not fall behind too much. ⑥ Follow your own strategy, focus on objective control like dragon souls, group up for tower pushing, ward control and pick potential are key.
2. Roaming
Undoubtedly, Lux's ability to roam and assist is quite weak. For Lux mid, the most important thing is the vision in the river and jungle areas. Once vision is lacking, it is easy to be ambushed on the way to provide support. Even if you force a roam to the side lanes, without reliable crowd control from teammates, the success rate of a gank by Lux alone is quite low. Roaming itself carries risks, and Lux has a low margin for error, easily falling off rhythm due to a failed roam. Therefore, after making your own judgment, if you're less than 80% sure that a gank will be successful, it's better to stay mid and farm to ensure your own development.
3. Mid stage
What you need to be mindful of is the lane swap, in the current version, most of the time after the bot lane's first turret is taken down, they'll come mid to farm and take lane priority.
If it's your team's bot lane that has the advantage, you can swap lanes to bot and pay attention to the Herald and Dragon resources. Don't push the bot lane too deep, try to clear the wave under the tower and then leave. If there are no enemies showing on the map, you don't need to stick to the first tower, prepare for possible ambushes with your teammates or move to the second tower. In short, during such times, avoid moving to areas without vision and use your E to check for enemies, don't get caught out.
If it's the enemy bot lane that has the advantage and comes mid, my suggestion is still to let the AD carry farm as much as possible in the bot lane and let the support join you in mid to provide vision. First, Lux has a strong wave clear, and without the Rift Herald, it's hard for the enemy to push in. Second, with the help of your jungler, there's still a chance to kill the enemy AD carry. If you manage to get the shutdown gold, you'll quickly take off. After clearing the wave, try to join your support and jungler to provide vision or catch enemies, or directly group up to push the tower and secure resources.
Team Fight Strategy:
In team fights, Lux heavily relies on her team, and if she's alone, she's easily targeted. Try to stay behind your teammates, below are some team fight strategies for your reference:
Ensure you're in a safe position to output damage, especially when trying to hit a Q.
Be aware of the enemy's positions, avoid being flanked, and prioritize abilities on enemies that pose the biggest threat to you and your carry.
Don't use your Q ability too freely, use your E ability to limit the enemy's movement.
Protect your AD carry and output damage together, your abilities can deal AOE damage or instantly kill squishy enemies.
Focus your damage on whoever your teammates are controlling, simply put, follow up on your team's crowd control abilities.
You can use your E and R abilities to poke from a distance, but after using your ult, if the enemies aren't low health or haven't died, it's better to wait for your next ult before starting a fight, as Lux's level 16 ult has a relatively short cooldown. If you're ahead or if you've taken Arcane Comet and Gathering Storm, and have the Elder Dragon buff, you can start enjoying the elegant one-shot with your ult.
