Along with most tanks is very easy at the early game, but then unkillable, once he builds armor/first item dont waste time with him, try to roam and help in skirmishes.
Build doran shield for the poke.
only last hit with q since if you get close you will eat too much damage.
even when ahead he can be hard to kill.
Ahri
Pre lv6 you can deal decent then gets tricky to kill her
Look for all in once she uses R or her cc, if she gets fed or you find the matchup hard go for hexdrinker
Doran shield start can also help.
Dont combo if you are pushing into her since the jungler and her can punish you hard if you dont have w in middle of the lane.
Akali
Very dependant on the akali skill, usually go for hexdrinker as even a bad akali deals decent damage, once she uses w you can look for a combo or all in if low enough.
dont go doran shield as you outrange her, if you are pushed towards her be carefull to not use w since she can all in.
Early game if she hits you with e she can kill you easy, you can try to bait her e into your tower with w.
Sylas
Similar to akali matchup, usually hexdrinker rush as sylas has very high damage, if you have problems you can go resolve in runes to get bone plating but you will loose power and cd
you can bait him into tower or combo him if he has no e
sylas are very agressive you can go for w back combo as if you go for standard combo sylas can jump into you
if you feel confident go for d blade start and get him early game, once you have eclipse you can duel better
Akshan
Akshan can be annoying since it is pretty much adc mid, go for d shield and avoid his q, play passive on early game especially pre lv3 since his autos can proc press the attack very easy, once you have combo you can punish him with more range, if he engages with e you can look for an all in if low enough
The trick is to not underestimate his damage and play passive on early game
Try to kill him on tf so he cant revive people that is his mayor threat
Anivia
A good anivia can be very annoying but you can dodge most of her damage early and win on the short trade, go for d shield and wait for items if you find it hard, once you have eclipse anivia gets easier to deal with, hexdrinker only if you feel she knows the matchup
Aurelion Sol
Asol is very easy on early to mid game, once late enters is pretty much a nasus mage, try to all in once he uses e or w, avoid his poke the most you can and punish him with combo, you can look for all in on early pre 6 if you get him at 50% health, dodging his ult and e is the most important, try to kite him out of his q on early
Aurora
Aurora is very hard to get thanks to her invisivility and r but she has very long cds on them, look to bait her poke and then punish, go for hexdrinker if you feel uncomfortable with the matchup
d shield start is not obligatory
Azir
Azir is mostly strong once he gets items and thanks to his poke, he cam be quite durable and has annoying mobility, once he uses e or fails to poke with q you can look for dmg
early game step back but once you hit lv3 you can start fighting, try to go for item spike or roams if he plays passive
Brand
Brand strengh is on team fights, hexdrinker and mercs is usually good, avoiding his cc can get you a kill, if you have problems with his poke try to roam but lookout for skirmishes
early game you are stronger on lane use your lv6 lv3 spike, he runs low on mana fast
Garen
Very hard to deal with once he gets w and bc of his passive, try to look for kills early game and watchout for lv6 since his spike is stronger, similar to tank mus look for roams and skirmishes, once you hit 2 items you can deal more dmg but is better to get him with teammates, use your mobility to your advantage since he cant reach you early
Diana
Diana has a very fast dmg and poke, her shield can make your poke very weak, look for hexdrinker and avoid her poke, w back combos can be good, if she uses her dash or shield you can look for all in but on extended fights she can be tricky to take down
Fizz
Even a bad fizz can deal tons of dmg, go hexdrinker and don underestimate him, once he has ult lookout for him trying to catch you, dont trow your w without thinking, early game his cooldows open a window for combos but a good fizz wil use each dash to never give you a chance to free combo
Galio
very inmobile and telegraphed champ, onc ehe gets tanky he can be annoing, watchout for his e since even if you avoid it he can catch you with w and his jungler, look to match his roams and punish him if he fails his combo
Ekko
Ekko has a lot of mobility and survability, once he uses his e or w you can look to trade back, he usually can gap close very easy and fast be carefull early game, w back combo can be good to trade back but wont avoid his damage, while he doesnt proc passive you can make the trade possitive, go hexdrinker and bait his w to go for an all in, you can combo on the windows he gives you after he uses e and q, dont combo him if he procs passive as he can easily run
Gragas
gragas e is his stronges tool in this mu, you can bait out his q and then combo with distance, but all in on him is quite tricky since he can e and r you, he gets quite tanky building hp and thanks to his passive, dont dive him and be cautious once he gets his items, hexdrinker can be good but usually is only needed if his team has more ap than him, you can out range him and trade back if he uses e, but onc he gets enough cd the 1v1 is harder
Heimerdinger
heimer on lane is a great bully, you can look for combos trowing your w out and all ins if he uses his stun, overall laning is very annoying, once you get to skirmishes is your time to shine so look for jg and bot/top roams
Zoe
Zoe is a very special matchup, she relies on her e to make dmg but is also her safe tool, if she miss uses it or you dodge it you can most likely kill her, onzed tends to take cleanse vs her as it can make her e useless or give you a kill angle.
Ziggs
Ziggs is very easy to deal with, he can become annoying once he has an item or two bc of his poke, but overall he doesnt have a defensive tool apart from e so he can be killed quite easy, some zed mains take hydra to sustain trough his poke and to use a popular bruiser build, but eclipse does great too.
Zac
Zac is a very strong champion and similar to anivia while he has passive the kill pressure is not as important, your objective as with other tanks is to scale and look for roams, play on tempo and dont overcomit to kill him since he can heal and tank unexpected amounts, he also has great dmg so be carefull, apart from that you have a clean early against him and he cannot solokill you that easy without someone else bc of your mobility.
Yone
Yone as well as yasuo is a very skill matchup, but once he hits botrk he has a massive powerspike, beware of his positioning as he can catch you even if you w away, if you can bait his e or get him low enough you can look for a kill angle, usually you hit eclipse before his botrk so use that to your advantage, the sustain he has can make poke very insignificant so try to look for all in oportunities with w back but only if he doesnt has q charged or e so you can step out, dodging is very important in this matchup, you can rush ionian boots if you feel comfortable enough.
Yasuo
Yasuo isnt as self reliant as yone but on lane he is as great of a bully as his older brother, play with your wave, yasuo loves to move between minions so if you trade against him in middle of lane you wont win, his w is also another strong counter to your damage and his passive makes him quite tanky + his sustain, look to all in once he pushes, has no w, or once you get ecplise, still he is stronger on the long trade so you should do small trades with w back, remember to do this only if he has no wave of yours to play with, overall a skill matchup without minions is easier to deal with. onzed usually goes dshield and waits for his powerspkies or any mistake the yasuo player can make, play with waves and patience.
Naafiri
Nafiri has a very lineal trade pattern, she cant really outplay you but she makes out for that with dmg, you can dodge her w easy but her qs are the most important to dodge, dont waste your w in middle of the lane since if you have no way of disengage she can all in and surely win, her dogs are also quite annoying, and roaming is a double edge sword since she can catch pretty fast, early game she relies more on mana so take advantage on that, and once she all ins she cant follow your mobility so kite her out with shadows, she is pretty easy to gank too.
Mel
Mel w and e are her strongest tools against you, pretty much without them she is free kill, problem is that a good mel will maintain e if she used w or viceversa so you cant dive or combo her freely, try to see how she reacts to w e q combo, if you can bait her w you can all in better, and never dive if she has e, her e is 2 second long even at level 1, once you have ecplise the matchup gets easier as you can poke and tank her dmg, and on sidelane you are stronger, go d shield for her poke, play on her mana and cds, and bait her q to dodge her, with next changes she is going to be easier to deal with.
Xerath
Xerath is not weak, he has more range and wave clear power than you, of course without his e he becomes vulnerable but he makes up with his extreme poke and mana sustain, looking to roam is harder as he can waveclear very fast but is the best option if you dont find a kill angle, apart from that hexdrinker can help you win the long trade and survive his burst but a great xerath is always hard to deal with. Go dshield and his e cd.
Viktor
Viktor early is good bc of his poke power but we are stronger since lv3, our early is also better so look for kills once he missteps, you can "dodge" his w if you wait a little before he stunts you, but try to have your w to move sou you dont risk the stun, similar to mel baiting out his poke is essential and going dshield helps to, dont go hexdrinker as you delay your powerspikes too much and you become stronger than him early. he is pretty inmobile so look for ganks from your jg if possible, also he is weaker on early skirmishes so take that to your advantage
Vladimir
Vlad outscales us but we can take advantage of the early lane, he doesnt really poke you if you dont give him the range to, so going longsword or even dblade is great, once he uses w he becomes extremely vulnerable, some vlad players use mobility tho so keep that in mind, with ignite your all in is stronger and counters better his healing, but if possible go for the grievous wounds anyway, bait out your engage without using w and is a secured kill, but once he hits 2 3 items dont fight him alone .
Vex
Vex has great counters to our mobility and extreme pressure thanks to her long hitboxes, she is easy to dodge tho and you can prevent her stuns watching out for her passive bar, play with her mechanic and dont engage if you are low, if you have struggle with her poke go dshield and wait for ecplise so you can out trade her. also once you have w try to only poke and not tp so she cant use her passive.
Veigar
Veigar overall is an easy matchup but he gets very strong late, his e is annoying but it has a great cdr, buying mercs can help you react to his stun and you can even risk a dive even if he stuns you while you are strong enough, if he plays passive look for early roams as he has very low mobility and is weaker on skirmishes, dodging his ult can make you win a one sided trade so beware.
Vel'Koz
Theres no much velkoz these days and even rare are good vel koz players, his e is his main disengage and without it he is pretty much dead, dont engange if he has more healt than you as his r can get you at very long distances, look for his trade pattern and dodge his qs, you can also bait his e with flash or w, be patient and look for plays
Twisted Fate
Twisted fate is special, once he has ult you roaming isnt as strong as in other matchups, diving him or trading is dangerous bc of his e, and he has more range in his q, but truth is that by dodging his e and playing with the wave so he cant be safe under tower you can easily put tf on a lot of pressure, if you struggle with him going for hex isnt crazy but dmg is always better as you are stronger at 1 2 items, go dshield and all ins if he pushes too much or wastes e
Tryndamere
No much to say, onzed bans him ussually and his whole kit counters you, a lot of sustain, mobility, and his ult can counter yours, dont look to fight him if he stacks passive and post lv6 dont waste time on him if he has ult, try to scale and roam early but dont leave your lane too much once he has tiamat since he can splitpush very easy. on skirmishes you might have a chance and ignite is great to counter his r but overall is a very hard mu.
Renekton
renekton "counters" you as he has sustain, great hp thanks to his ult, and even a point and click stun on top of two dashes, reality is that if the renek takes the champ bc he thinks he can counter you, you can make his life impossible with w back trades, and kiting him with shadows isnt impossible, that said never underestimate him and play passive on early game, if you are below 40% hp he can flash ignite enraged w and is gg, so dont let him get you low enough, you can look to roam and bait his e w, once he uses it you can look for all in, post lv6 is hard to kill him bc of his ult but if you get him low enough kiting him and using ignite is a secured kill, use your range to your advantage and dont let him trade for free.
Talon
Talon is known for his lv1 lv2 strenght, you can go dblade and boneplating to take his all in and win it back on the extended trade but if he hits you with w he can pretty much win with ease, look for his w range and once he uses it is your time to trade back, baiting his q with your w is also very strong, you can even take him to tower if he is close enough, but trading post r is tricky as he can use ult to disengage and start roaming, his all in is stronger but if you get to dodge his abilitys you can win long trade, play passive early if you struggle and keep vision for his roams, you can make him lose exp and counteroam if you play your fundamentals correctly
Taliyah
Taliyah´s strength is in her poke, but post lv3 you are better on lane, you can dodge most of her dmg and bait her abilitys easy, and her ult doent help her on the 1v1, play with her circle terrains as she can stun you with q, but if you maintain your distance and use your dodges you can win easy.
Syndra
Syndra has a bigger range than zed, on onzed on words "this matchup is pretty much who is the first to burn his abilities", if she missuses her stun you can go in, you can dodge her ult and even bait her whole trade, she can do the same tho so beware, and she can even poke you harder bc of her range, go dshield and look for plays by dodging her cc, hexdrinker is also very great against her burst
Malzahar
Malza strongest tool are his waveclear and his r, without ult he is pretty much dead, so he compensates with constant push, on early this costs him a lot of mana and you can even prevent his pushing by using your combo on his minions and voidspawns, if you do this you mantain a cycle of push and counter push that eventually he wins, some zed players use the same hydra strat that i mentioned before, but on early pre 6 you can look to all in if he overcomits, also you can always bait his r with yours using w back, he is always usefull even at 0 8 all thanks to his ult so it makes him annoying but early you can win by taking his shield down and playing with wave.
Kassadin
Kassadin is pretty much like taliyah but without a cc, so he is even more easy to deal with, yes he outscales us but for lv16 the game is very decided anyway and you also deal much more damage, dont be too greedy since he can look to bait you, but use your strenght to deny as much exp and farm as you can, play for your powespikes and look for all in oportunities once he overcomits, roaming is also great to expand your lead.
Katarina
Kat is very strong on burst dmg, you cant be as flashy as her without comiting more, but on the extended trade you can end up winning if she missuses her ult and dash, try o bait her dash so you can trade with w back, going hexdrinker can help to win the long trade and avoid eating q and dmg for free
LeBlanc
leBlanc is always a tough matchup bc of her high mobility, you can go dshield and bone plating even hexdrinker to stop as much damage as possible but the key to win the matchup is trade patterns, once she uses her w e q combo is your turn to kill, flashing her chain is never a great idea and your ult does not prevent the stun if it already hits you, play with boneplating to deny as much damage as possible and once she makes a bad trade or miss you can look to trade back, trading on her cds is extremely hard as she can dodge you easy, her first levels are also stronger than your so beware till lv 3
Mordekaiser
Morde natural tankiness makes killing him harder than usual mid matchups, but his q and e are extremely easy to dodge, his whole trade gets denied with your kiting and he cant do much about it, on the long trade tho he is stronger, if he uses w or e is your moment to all in, if not killing him can be harder so farm and roam without trouble, once he starts getting tankier he can be a bigger threat but to that time you also have eclipse and black cleaver so you can fight back. dont overcomit on the classic w e q w combo as he ends up winning lon trades, go for short w back trades and dodge his abilities
Nasus
Same as mord a low mobility weak early champion is extremely abusable for zed, he can outscale you but as you do with kassadin denying him the most exp and farm possible is the way to go, look to roam and use your powerspikes to get a solo kill, once he has ult he can become quite tanky so get him low enough before you go and dont overcomit if you push too much as his w can make for a easy gank on you. sidelane is harder to get him but with your team he is just a punching bag if behind. if he gets fed dont 1v1 him and play on team to get him down, your goal is to scale as good as possible in this matchup
Neeko
Neeko can be annoying with the clone and minon shenanigans but you can dodge most of her dmg and win on the extended fight, look for her stun and the positioning of your shadows to dodge her ult and engage again.
Qiyana
Qiyana has an easier time bursting than you, if you get to dodge her ult or q stun you can kill her but she usually wins on a burst scenario, look to roam and dont overcomit, wath your step as any mistake can be detrimental, you can bait her with a w back or even dodging with w and flash, but with her mobility is very hard to catch, scale as good as you can and play with your team, going edge of night can also be great later
Pantheon
Pantheon is a really agressive laner, similar to renek you dont want him to burst you early levels, but you can dodge his w farily easy, using your psitioning to make his e useless is key, but if you dont se a way to make a play happen dont force it, go for roams and beware of his ult, on lane dont overpush and trow your w without thinking as you have no way to scape once you use it, play early safe and start using your range as advantage, kite with shadows and go for eclipse first
Ryze
rize early is easy to handle apart from the poke, you can make him waste mana with dshield and go back in, once he starts building items he usually can win even if you burst him, as he is kite tanky and has very great scaling, playing with cc from your teams is key, and mercs can help too
Swain
Swain e is his main engage abilty whitout it he cant kill you, look to bait it and scale as good as you can, he can outpoke you early levels but once you hit 3 you can start to play back agressively, his e tend to be 10 to 8 seconds, dont dive him without care, no need to go hexdrinker, he is better at skirmishes once he has ult so try to avoid him while he has it
Orianna
oriana is pretty much syndra matchup but easier to dodge, you can go hexdrinker if you struggle but going ionian boots first can help to dodge and to trade often, dodging with r and w is essential, dont engage without thinking.
Irelia
irelia w as garen w makes your w e q combo useless, but you can bait out her abilities to look for an engage, once she has botrk she chan burst you insanely fast so beware, you want to play for your powerspike first and play with wave, without passive she is weaker and smilar to yasuo whitout minions she has less options to move
Hwei
Hwei has higher range and cc than most mages, he is quite annoying once midgame " early powerspikes come in, dodging him is extremely usefull going mercs can help, and as an inmobile mage once he uses his cds or getting him on a gank is pretty much free kill, look to roam and hexdrinker isnt as strong as he can just poke you whitout overcomiting

Laning phase
General laning phase
Zed is a champion that is at its strongest once he gets enough cdr or powerspikes with items or lvs 3 6 9, his early laning phase for this matter is weaker in comparison to other champions, but he makes out for his flaws thanks to his outplay potential and mobility.
Onzed plays diferent depending on the matchup but overall he is very patient to get on his strongest moments to fight his enemy, onzed looks for play oportunities using fundamentals and making moves when the enemy missplays, his early is very passive most of the time but he uses his tempo to look for roams or plays on the enemy mid
Going safe most of the time is the best option as zed is a snowball champion that is even worse than most champs when behind, so sacaling as much as possible is the best option. against easier matchups he tends to be more aggressive and look for all in oportunities on the first 2-4 lvs, if is a harder matchup or game overall, he waits for powerspikes to make a play. Using conqueror on the extended fights on lane early can secure a kill that otherways was impossible, and bruiser/conq zed has extreme potentials on skirmishes, making the roams on jg and sidelanes great.
Mid/Lategame and teamfights
Once onzed hits 3 items he gets his strongest powerspike on bruiser zed, usually ecplipse bc shojin/sterak can make zed quite tanky while giving him tons of cdr and consistent dmg, his goal is to make the most possible out of his positioning with shadows and contrary to assasin zed playstile you dont burst someone 0 to 100 but instead drop as many damage as possible on the most important targets while making the enemy team use spells on you, thanks to your tankiness and mobility you can survive the engages and your team can win easier, fo course your role as assasin still the main focus of zed, so you should be carefull and not engage as if you were the tank of your team, play with enemy cds and your own team ccs so you can make the most out of the bruiser build, onzed tends to bait out many abilities from his enemies by making unexpected plays and engages, but he rarely makes this alone as he needs his team to backup him to make the plays usefull. your focus is to survive as long as possible shredding enemy armor and making the most damage you can. Using your shadows to displace the enemy and maintain your damage is essential.
This new season had 2 main changes that impulse bruiser zed playstile, the first one being the dmg reduction on all items, with less dmg on the game fights are longer and the burst is less, on the other hand the most important change is the rose system that came this season, each rose gives you adaptive ap/ad that makes up for the low ad on most bruiser items, making the build more viable, zed has always shine as an ad caster an not only as an full on assasin, and this build makes the most out of this characteristic. Finally the higher elo you are, the more value you can make out of zed wasting enemy abilities for nothing, and bc zed is a very mobile champion he can make great outplays that the team can follow up, this build also has more utility than usual making zed more viable even when behind.
