AP, Why?
AP Volibear can crush anyone, 1v1,1v2,...1v5. This build outputs a lot of burst and DPS. Is capable of oneshot squishy enemies with E + Q + R. And Non squishy targets can't handle the DPS from lethal tempo + 5 passive stacks.
How?
To get to the Raid boss final build you have to get really feed (which isn't that hard), or get to the late game. So, Volibear's kit + Doran ring = EZ lane against (almost)any champion. Getting Nashor's thoot is key to get the other items, it gives the bear a lightning spike, the enemy team can't ignore you. If they do you are able to push fast and destroy towers easily.
The gameplay is similar to tank Volibear, combo the enemy that is in front of you.
The team fights are doomed for the enemy team once you get more than 2 items because of AP and omnivamp synergy with passive.

Problems?
Difficulties playing this build
- Enemy CC: Using this build is really hard to kill before getting killed if your champion is under CC
- Enemy defensive mechanics: If you can't land Volibear's abilites RIP, the build relays on a lethal tempo window to get the best trades. Landing skillshots is a live or die situation most of the times.
- Enemy Burst: having some extra life from Riftmaker, R, and the shield from E is nice, but you are not a tank
- Enemy CC: Using this build is really hard to kill before getting killed if your champion is under CC
