Introduction

Hello, my name is Ramzey, and this is my first Mobafire guide so let's be kind. I have purchased all of the League of Legends champions (yes I have no life) and out of all of them, something struck out at me about the half dragon. I first started playing her only as a lane Tanky DPS, but as Phreak informed us, she is a fast jungler, so I gave it a try. I promise you either way you will not be disappointed, and I encourage you to try both before deciding what is right for you. Let's begin-

Runes/Masteries

For runes, I don't think they matter much, it's really what you are comfortable with. (However, if you do follow my runes note to get flat armor to improve start game jungling) Masteries on the other hand do have a strong impact on gameplay, and I highly suggest that you follow my choices.

Items

Jungle: Shyvana has to return to spawn after each run in early phases of jungle (don't let this worry you) so you will end up picking up Wriggle's Latern in small pieces, but once completed it will sustain you in jungle by itself for a while. Note the potion after cloth armor, this is very important. Be sure to use the active ward from it in front of dragon throughout your possession of the item, which should be sold either before or right after your first Bloodthirster. I use a Bloodthirsters and a Warmogs because of their minion passives. (Continued in farming) If you feel like you are tanky enough end game, you hardly die and your damage output isn't quite what you want it to be, than it is possible to keep up your stacks without dying, THEN AND ONLY THEN should you feel free to sell you Atma's Impaler and pick up a second Bloodthirster. If you keep the stacks up it gives plus 20 dmg and it's lifesteal, this is only if you find that "Atmogs" isn't needed for the team you are up against. I do not highly suggest this but it is a strong possibility. And that sums up jungle items.

Lane: When I see players buy Doran's shield I laugh a little bit. This is not a strong starting item with her, unless you are playing tank (Which doesn't make much sense to me, but it's your taste I guess) The lane items are pretty simple, just know that Warmogs and Sunfires Cape are interchangeable here and if you desire, when you are full build you may sell your Wit's End and buy a Black Clever.

Situational Items

I've had people ask a couple things about my build.

-Why don't I get spell vamp?
-Why don't I get more resistances?
-Why don't I get more health?
-Why don't I get more damage?

BECAUSE YOU HAVE SIX SLOTS, YOUR JOB IS TO DO THE BEST YOU CAN WITH THOSE SIX SLOTS AGAINST THE TEAMS YOU ARE PRESENTED AGAINST.

These are where situations where I find other items useful..

Whenever there is and overly farmed AD carry, including: or any other champion along these lines. Helps with the armor, not much else.

If you find the spellvamp needed because of your that's your call. This shouldn't be purchased in replace of one of your defensive items unless you are A. Not getting focused AND B. Aren't afraid of their damage output.

Strong Item, good for people like with her or with her If someone like this is giving you late game problems and they have a large bit of MR, this is okay.

There aren't many other items I agree with, but if you try it out and it work, what can I say? Just be careful not to imbalance her defensive side and her damage side.

Summoner Spells

Flash My personal choice for her, jungle or not, and it is quite effective for getting away or catching up. If used right, it is ridiculously wonderful at catching someone off guard, cutting someone off, diving, getting out of a dive, or jumping over a wall after a gank.

Ignite Use it in my lane game, great for picking up/securing the kills, overall good spell.

Smite If you jungle.

Exhaust I understand it, but I don't find myself in a situation where I'd really need it to often with her. Also a strong spell. The damage output reduction is really helpful in a 1v1 situation, but I don't find myself in the situation often enough.

Ghost Similar to exhaust's explanation- a little more useless because of her high speed. Really not as needed.

Cleanse If you get focused to often, not really needed, good escape. You shouldn't ever put yourselves in positions where you should need this. Work with your team to get out of situations, your high resistances and health should help keep you alive with out this, just be more careful start game.

Heal and other spells Just no, heal isn't needed (unless you are new to the game, it is a good set of training wheels), if you desire fortify a teammate can pick it up, you don't need clarity, clairvoyance should be picked up by the support, teleport: I do not agree with it simply because you will be jungle or you will will be in lane, and when you are in lane you stay long enough to not need a teleport back. If you are having troubles being week in game it is plausible but I don't suggest it,

Farming/ Jungling

Shyvana is a ridiculous farmer, and I mean it's ridiculous. It is very important to keep up with farming, I will almost always have the most minion kills at the end of a game, and it is all thanks to This is why I highly recommend items like Bloodthirster and Warmogs, it is so easy to farm. Turn on and auto attack minions while it does the rest for you.

When you jungle as Shyvana the best route (or at least best route that I have found) is:

(continue this until level six and then begin ganking, be careful not to get underleveled Awareness will help you with this, as well as a Zilean on your team) Be careful not to die, it is better to carry around two red poitons or return to spawn then take a useless death. Be very careful on part seven of dying.

ON GANKING: It is more or less useless to gank until you have your ultimate, unless the enemies are at low health and you are confident. Otherwise you are just wasting your time.

Team Work

Playing Shyvana you will get a lot of early game kills, but as your fade more into late game you will start to get a lot more assists. Don't let it annoy you, embrace it, be sure to do bits of damage to everyone at the start of fight (With or , and then feel free to assist your team in nuking single targets down. Don't confuse this with focusing issues. Also, YOU WILL HAVE A HUGE TARGET ON YOUR BACK WHEN IN please be mindful of your health, but don't waste the precious time you have while in dragon form.

DON'T PLAY THE HERO: your team might get mad, but unless you are 80 percent or more sure that you will survive then don't do this. This is because you do not want to lose stacks on your Bloodthirsters, theses will prove critical to you.

Your Skills and How to Use Them

Fury of the Dragonborn:

Shyvana's melee attacks enhance her abilities.
Twin Bite - Reduces the cooldown by 0.5 seconds.
Burnout - Extends the duration by 1 second to a maximum of 6 seconds.
Flame Breath - Deals 20% of the ability's damage to debuffed targets.
Dragon's Descent - Attacks generate 2 Fury and Shyvana passively gains Fury over time while in human form.

Learn these, keep them in mind. This passive makes the moves what they are. It helps Burnout's farming power, makes Twin Bite incredible in the jungle or in a 1v1, increases damage on target after hitting a target with Flame Breath, and helps reduce Dragon's Descent's cooldown. Need I say more?

Twin Bite:

Shyvana strikes twice on her next attack. Both attacks trigger On-Hit effects and Fury of the Dragonborn effects.
Dragon Form: Twin Bite cleaves all units in front of Shyvana.

Incredibly useful in a 1v1 and jungle, helps destroy target in short amount of time, and is easily spamable.

Burnout:

Shyvana deals magic damage per second to nearby enemies and her Movement Speed is greatly increased for 3 seconds. Shyvana's Movement Speed bonus is reduced over time.
Dragon Form: Burnout scorches the earth, continuing to damage enemies that stand on it.

My favorite move, it's like a 's but thanks to her passive it can last much longer and she can auto attack and cast other spells while it is up! It is also an incredible farming tool.

Flame Breath:

Shyvana unleashes a fireball that deals magic damage and melts the target's Armor for 4 seconds.
Dragon Form: Flame Breath engulfs all units in a cone in front of Shyvana.

Good harass, nice to hit before trying to shred someone down.

DRAGON'S DESCENT:

Active: Shyvana transforms into a dragon and takes flight to a target location. Enemies along her path take magic damage and are knocked toward her target location.
Passive: Shyvana reinforces her scales, increasing her Armor and Magic Resist. Defensive bonuses are doubled in Dragon Form.

She turns into a dragon..

Scores

This is a standard jungling score.

Not a great score, but is a good example of a high assist game.

If I hadn't gotten cocky, and tried to finish blue on the second run, even though I couldn't, I would have had one less embarrassing death.

Karshakk's score with my jungle guide!

NekoStar's score with my jungle guide!

I want YOUR scores using the build too, feel free to post them and I will put them up here.
