Introduction
You're on the case, Caitlyn? I'm on YOUR case.
This build focuses on a balanced approach to utility, survivability, and top end power. The Wriggle's Lantern is used for moderate armor and life steal, as well as having a ready ward available when you need it. The Berserker's Greaves is for attack speed; for Enchantments, I'd suggest Furor or Alacrity. The Hexdrinker was added for the magic resist and its passive, Lifeline. Now well balanced and with good damage, we move on into teamfight items. Guinsoo's Rageblade is the first and best item for Vi for the ability power, attack damage, and attack speed. AP isn't essential on Vi, but it amplifies the damage from Excessive Force. What really makes it an item for improving her quality of life, however, is its passive, which gives you 20% increased attack speed, 10% life steal, and 10% spell vamp when below 50% health. This makes her a real clinch hold out! We then combine this insane power with that of the Maw of Malmortius to increase Vi's damage when her health reaches a certain point, and you soon become darn near unstoppable in an out-and-out fight. We then add the Blade of the Ruined King for the damage and life steal, but also the insane active that allows Vi to burst heal during combat to survive what would normally kill her. In other words, when Guinsoo's and the Maw of Malmortius have their passives activated, you can avoid death with Blade of the Ruined King's active after reaping the benefits of the two passives.
Essentially, this build gives Vi some great starting damage when initiating as well as some great teamfight ability. As the enemy damages her, the passives from Guinsoo's and the Maw of Malmortius are what can really turn a fight around, especially if you have full offensive masteries. The Executioner mastery would only add to the damage you're getting in late team fight, which can be the difference between life and death.
The final item is up to you--examine the enemy composition, see where their strengths are, and counter them. For example, if their team's AP caster is getting fed, build a Mercurial Scimitar. This item can be great in the middle of heavy CC fights that might disable Vi from taking advantage of her items' passives. If their team is mainly AD, build an Iceborn Gauntlet. This gives you the Sheen proc as well as an AoE slow, which is great on Vi as a melee champ. If you're carrying your team like a champ and just want to smash people's faces in, however, you can go for a Black Cleaver for the damage, health, cooldown reduction, and armor pen. You can experiment with your damage item at this point to see which one suits you more.
