Hey everybody, I'm The Iron Solari, and welcome to my Viktor guide :D
I'm currently Gold 3 (I know, not exactly the rank you look for in a champ guide, but I think I know a thing or two when it comes to Viktor), and climbed out of bronze last season running Viktor mid. He's become one of my favorite champions to play, as he's an uncommon pick, but can definitely carry games that seem hopeless. I hope that my guide can help give you a good idea what Viktor is capable of, and how to go about showing your enemies the Glorious Evolution.
Pros
+ Great ability to poke/bully
+ Deceptive damage output (people don't think coming to lane with an augment = damage spike)
+ Good AOE damage
+ Potential multi-champion stun can set up some awesome fights
Cons
- No reliable escape
- Has high mana costs/low mana regen
- Skillshot relient. Missing a Death Ray can often cost a kill
- Known for falling off late game (Have yet to really see if this is the case with his new kit rework, so we'll see if this con needs to be changed)
Farming
Last hitting creeps is always a pain on champions that don't focus on AD, but it isn't so bad on Viktor. His auto-attack is a pretty clean animation, and also has a fairly fast projectile speed. Utilizing your Q's empowered auto-attack is also very useful for securing last hits you'd miss otherwise (Casting Q serves as a slight auto-attack reset).
Past mid game, Viktor can easily clear entire waves with a well-aimed Death Ray and a few auto attacks. Nothing beats watching an entire wave die from a single Death Ray when you're full build :)
Trading
- Death Ray -
Viktor's harassing ability is really good post-level 4, since your Death Ray will start putting out damage to make the high mana cost worth it. Don't be afraid to throw out your Death Ray if it means getting a creep or two, as well as hitting our opponent. Your opponent will get a feeling for the damage it puts out, but then you recall and upgrade your Hexcore, and BAM. You're back in lane chunking them for 1/4 of their health, and they have no idea why.
- Siphon Power -
Arguably his safer harassment tool, Viktor's Q is basically an entire spell designed around trading with opponents. You cast it, get a shield, deal some damage, and have a mini lich-bane effect on your next auto. It's just a great tool for dueling with mids that don't respect you and get near you to cs or harass. The shield early game will help negate enemy harassment, and makes staying in lane that much easier.
