Champion Build Guide
Chapter 1: Truth > Dreams
While we all may dream of the once halcyon days of Yasuo, League as a meta-game has evolved to favor new playstyles, itemizations, and champion designs that outperform the old-meta, just as Yasuo once did. With this in mind, I look towards new ways to innovate Yasuo's itemization to keep him current with League's newest champions. Noticing the trend in new champions possesing hightened mobility, I applied a logical framework that states: by increasing Yasuo's movement speed, we grant him the means to apply pressure to champions that can inherently outmanuever him. Critical to note, Yasuo is the only close range marksmen in the game. Considering the fragile nature of his typical build (crit, attack speed, damage) this leaves him more vulnerable than any other ADC in the game.
To that extent, I opt for two critical considerations to made when itemizing Yasuo.
1: Movement Speed and Attack Speed take priority to damage
2: Damage takes priority to Attack Speed
Allow me to explain
Movement Speed (as we've dicussed above) needs to be incorporated into Yasuo's build path and is prioritized above all other stats. So we look to Phantom Dancer, a once staple of Yasuo's history, to provide a strong 10% movement speed boost in the early game. This speed allows Yasuo players to navigate the complex/awkward situations of early game where the champion suffers the most.
Considering that Phantom Dancer lacks significant damage (20 AD + passive) compared to the traditional build Kraken Slayer, we compensate the missing damage by taking Conqueror in our Runes instead of Lethal Tempo.
heresy.
Yet I will seize any manner of heretical strength to protect Yasuo.
Conqueror allows us to build movement speed without sacrificing damage, and it's healing scales into the late game, allowing us to skip buying the BS lifesteal items and build more appropriately for late game team fights. From here we look to options such as: Sterak's Gage, whose shield is consistent, reliable, and grants fully optimal* stats for AD champions (*not a stat wasted regardless of brusier), while options like Iceborn Gauntlet and Dead Man's plate further augement our mobility / ability to stay on target.
