ZOOMIN VEIGAR

Are you playing immobile mages such as Veigar, tired of the mobility creep in League of Legends? Well what we do is take their mobility creep and throw it right back at their faces. With this guide we turn the otherwise squishy immobile Veigar into a super mobile and tanky monster.

This playstyle is the most fun I've ever had with LoL

Check out what this bad boy can do:
https://streamable.com/iwpjyo

Its all thanks to ARURF. The first game of ARURF I played I got Singed. I went Heal + Ghost, Predator, Swiftness, Chemtank, Dead Mans Plate, Yoomumus Ghostblade, and anything else that gave MS and/or tankyness. My strategy was simple. Run in and fling everyone. Extremely fun. Then I started building this on EVERY CHAMPION with CCing and distracting the enemy my mission. It became a game on its own. One time I got Veigar and boi let me tell you we won that game hard. Unkillable, literally UNCATCHABLE, spamming cages every 3rd second is impossible to play against. It was the most fun in LoL I've ever had. So I wanted to try this in SoloQ. I ditched Yoomumus Ghostblade for Cosmic Drive, went Shureliyas instead of Chemtank, and replaced Swiftness boots with Ionian boots. Turned out to be super good, atleast in high gold and low plat elo.

Introduction: Proof of concept & reason for making this guide

After 100 games I zoomed through gold and currently sitting at Plat IV with a 62% winrate, which ive never been since before my break in Season 3 lasting until late Season 10. When I got promoted to Plat IV I had 65% winrate after 80 games with Legaue of Graphs ranking me as their #290 Veigar. That certainly is saying something.

I am not saying im really the #290 Veigar or even in the top 10000. The reason I am making this guide is quite the contrary. I am not a high level player. The one thing I know is it that is playstyle is extremely viable in gold and low plat, given the results by my 100 games.

What I want know if is this works for all level of LoL and how far this playstyle can go. We need to perfect Zoomin Veigar.

SO HIT ME UP ON HOW WE CAN IMPROVE THIS GUIDE. You can find me here on mobafire or in the Veigar discord server, poopface#8401.

Strenghts

Strengths

- Engangement, super great for catching people as they cant outrun you. Just cage them, W and Q, and wait for follow up from your team. It is like Glacial Veigar, except now you are fast and they are slow relative to you.
- Sturdy and Mobile, making killing you very hard especially if you are snowballing
- Huge roaming potential, mostly from level 7 and on with predator, ghost, and shureliyas.
- You can take greater risks in teamfights for really game changing cages with your extra mobility and tankyness.
- Versatile, you can take the role of (or som combination of) damage dealing, engangement, and/or peeling for your carries depending on the game state.
- Earlier powerspike and more impact on the map
- Probably more that I dont think of

Weaknesses

- Obviously less damage ranging from a lot to a little depending on what items you buy.
- Probably more that I dont think of

Similarities with AP Veigar

You will still scale as good as AP veigar does. I would also argue that your zoning and peeling is better because you have an easier time surviving in teamfights. However, W becomes a worse zoning option as it deals less damage but it still does its thing.
How to Play
Some general notes I like to follow:

I am almost never looking for solo kills in the lane. My time is better spent shoving the lane and roaming.

I tend to value fast shoving and less passive stacks rather than many stacks and slower wave pushes as there will be less downtime between waves to do other stuff on the map.

First levels

This is how I play
In harder lanes which have kill potential on me I play it more safe until level 7. In lanes like Fizz and Yone I think playing it extremely safe in order to not die is the most important. So i just focus on getting atleast 40-50 stacks at the 8 minute mark.

When up against mana dependent champions who cant kill me to easily I focus only on dodging their skills and to put as much pressure on the wave in order to establish lane prio. I use Q for last hits and W often for the caster minions, but not too much because you want to have more mana than they have. I spam auto attacks on the minions. If they choose to match your pressure then fine. Its important to always look to proc Taste of Blood when its up. If you can deplete their mana pool with a decent amount of HP left then your job is done until they choose to back and lose CS.
The goal of this is to make the lane safe to be in for you and so you can help your jungler.

Level 7 and on.

Your goal should be to push the wave and look for oppurtunities on the map. Who cares about some solo kills mid when you can snowball with the rest of your team. **I have never gotten a solo kill in lane in any of my 100 games.** Only if you count in self-defense.

You wanna time your backs so at level 7 you will have near full HP and mana and the following items (similar to how Twisted Fate sets up a lvl 6 gank) :

- Dorians Ring
- Darkseal
- Bandleglass mirror or Amplifying Tome
- Boots

At this point you should start to roam. I just shove the lane as fast as I can, looking for opportunities. Some games I dont even interact with my midlaner in lane after level 7. For hard matchups where it is a risk to go deep in the lane you can place your cage to go inside it to finally drop a W to oneshot the caster minions. then you can finish the melees with 2 Qs, 1 W, and a couple of AA's.

Play the winning side and keep an eye our for your jungler. You goal is to snowball your team as hard as you can.

When you get your mythic your roam potential goes up even more. And with your second item usually being Dead Man's Plate or Cosmic Drive the potential becomes even greater. So the more the game goes on the more you wanna roam.

Later on, if your ADC wants to go mid I usually say no because mid lane is closest to everything and now when you have more items roaming becomes easier and especially more fun.

Waveclear

When you are level 7 and have picked up a couple of kills early you usually dont have to worry about having enough AP for waveclear as you will have passive stacks (5 ap / takedown) and dark seal charges (5 ap / charge).
But we want to know that even in the worst case scenarios we will be able to waveclear efficiently.

Assuming we have 0 takedowns and the following AP sources (in 99% cases you will have these):

- 200 base damage W
- 9\*2 Adaptive Power shards
- 15 Dorians Ring
- 15 darkseal (0 stacks)
- 20 Bandleglass mirror / Amplifying Tome

Our W damage output will be 268 ap

At the 7 minute mark the caster minions will have 320 HP which then increases by 8.25 hp every third wave. So we need at minimum 52 passive stacks to be able to one shot caster minions. Here is a table useful for knowing how many stacks at minimum to aim for:

- 7.05 minutes | 320 HP | 52 passive stacks to oneshot caster minions
- 8.35 minutes | 338.25 | 61 passive stacks
- 10.05 minutes | 336.5 | 69 passive stacks
- 11.35 minutes | 344.75 | 77 passive stacks
- 13.05 minutes | 353 | 86 passive stacks

If you often are off by a couple of AP you can mitigate this problem if you can choose Absolute Focus, which gives ~8 AP at level 7, instead of Transedence or Celerity. You can also switch from Eyeball Collection to Ghost Poro to make sure you will have an extra 6 or so AP at 7 minutes, if you ward properly

If you run both these runes then you will have 280 damage output on your W. This gives a new table:

- 7.05 minutes | 320 HP | 40 passive stacks to oneshot caster minions
- 8.35 minutes | 338.25 | 49 passive stacks
- 10.05 minutes | 336.5 | 57 passive stacks
- 11.35 minutes | 344.75 | 66 passive stacks
- 13.05 minutes | 353 | 75 passive stacks

Mid Game

At this point you shouldnt have been worrying about AP for wave clear for a while because you will have picked up a couple of takedowns and built more items.

When you have around 3 items so you will be zooming and you wanna impact the map as much as you can with this mobility.

Important stuff to do:

- Still, always shove the lane as fast as you can.
- Be sure to take part of every objective and every teamfight.
- Find overextended/alone players and pick them out.

Dont underestimate how fast you are when catching players. You can catch ANYONE with Ghost + Shureliyas + Predator + Dead Mans Plate, or pop their flashes. So many flashes popped in my 100 games. That will still be a win as all your actives will be up 1-2 minutes later, due to Ionian Boots and Ingenious Hunter, while their flash will still be on cooldown. Just make sure you have teammates around that will follow up you cage, unless you know you can kill them yourself. Also, you dont have to land your stun. If they are inside the cage there will be enough time for your team to follow up.

At this point you should know if you need to build tanky or more damage for the last 2 items

Late Game

- Find overextended/alone players and pick them out.

Mid and Late Game Teamfights

You are very versatile in teamfights so you have to think hard about what your role is in order to win teamfights. Your items should also reflect this.

Do you have a fed carry who you will need to peel for and protect?
Do your team need your damage to win fights?
Do your team have no frontline?
Do your team have no teamfight engage, aside from you?
Do the enemy team has a fed carry which you must zone out from your team or do you have damage to burst them down?
etc...

Look for cages in choke points where you can completely shut out as many enemy players as possible. Those cages alone can literally change a losing game into a winning game. Im using W more often as a zoning tool than as a damage tool.
Items
Sidenote: Rabadons Deathcap and Shureliyas is both getting a buff next patch, so this makes this build even stronger! (2021-03-13)

Shureliyas

99% of times I go this as my Mythic. Manaflow band + the mana regen on this will more than often be enough in my experience. But you will have to back more due to low mana then if you were going a lost chapter mythic.

Mejais Soulstealer

Crucial to this build as you need the AP and will be roaming a lot. I often wait to upgrade until i have around ~2.5 items completed, excluding boots.

Cosmic Drive

With the rework it just gives everything you need. I build it as my 2nd item more often than my 3rd.

Dead Man's Chest

Often my 3rd item. I have found great success in using my autos sparingly with it to not remove the MS passive. You will be extremely mobile and more tanky. A big powerspike for sure.

Ionian Boots

CDR is more valuable with this utility based playstyle than magic penetration. Also great for lowering the Ghost cooldown which you will be popping very often.

Seekers Armguard vs Chain Vest cs Glacial Buckler for early armour

Seekers Armguard got nerfed again and sitting at 73% gold efficiency at zero stacks and 103% gold efficiency at full stacks. Chain Vest is 100% gold efficient. That combined with in most matches Dead Man's Plate is a better choice in my opinion leads me to suggest buying Chain Vest for early armour instead of Seekers Armguard, unless you really need a Zhonyas in the near future.

If you are planning on buying Frozen Heart instead Glacial Buckler also works. It also gives AH and mana which we usually is low on.

Situational Items

Force of Nature

The best MR option in my opinion. I usually delay Dead Mans Plate or Cosmic Drive if I really need MR. I build this very often.

Rabadon's Deathcap

A good late game pick if you need damage.

Frozen Heart

A good armour item. If you build Glacian Buckler it also gives a bit of much needed mana in the early game.

Zhonyas Hourglass

Also good pick if you need damage and survivability. You can do some crazy engagements with this as well such as rushing into the enemy team, place a sick *** cage, and then use the active while you wait for follow up from your team.

Against AP assassins such as Fizz and Diana I have been going FoN if I need more tankyness than damage,, but you are vulnerable for a longer time. Dont know what the best choice is in those situations.

Abyssal Mask

Ive built this twice, which the games ended shortly after so I dont know if it works better than FoN. Obviously it has synergy with your cage but very often you dont get the stun and just trap people inside it which makes the passive useless.

Chemtank

The only time I would go Chemtank if we need tankyness and I know I can safely 1 shot caster minions at lvl 7 and on without the 40 ap from Shureliyas due to picking up some kills early. Great for offense and defense. Not as gold efficient as you wont be utilizing the burn passive.

Other armour tank items

I dont know which armour items aside from Dead Man's Plate is good. Needs investigation.

Other AP items

Needs investigation.
Runes
Predator is manditory for early roams.

Taste of Blood is great as you dont have any intrinsic sustain in your kit.

Eye Ball Collection can be switched with Ghost Poro, in some cases where you need to be sure you can waveclear early. More details under the "Playstyle" -> "Level 7" -> "Waveclear" section.

Ingenious hunter is great as it works with both Predator and Shureliyas. Shureliyas is now buffed, lowering its cooldown to 60s from 90-60s making us not so dependent on the rune.

Relentless Hunter is a good choice. Maybe you dont actually gain too much from having Ingenious Hunter when both Predator and Shureliyas is 60s, and if so Relentless Hunter is the next best choice for sure.

I guess Ultimate Hunter works too. However you ultimate is not as crucial with this playstyle unless your team needs more damage. And as Ive understood Ultimate Hunter isnt even a super good choice for regular AP Veigar.

Manaflow Band feels required, as you wont be building any items which give raw mana.

You can choose between Celerity, Transcendence, and Absolute Focus depending on what you are going to build and matchup. Celerity always good, my go to pick. Transcendence is also good but I dont pick it if I am planning going Cosmic Drive as my item after mythic, as that item already have a lot of abilty haste. Absolute Focus is a very safe option which gives you around 10 ap at 9 minutes into the game which some games can be useful for waveclear. More details on that under the "Playstyle" -> "Level 7" -> "Waveclear" section.
Abilities
Put a point level 2 into E if you are scared for an all in or an early gank.

You want 3 levels into W by level 7 in order to oneshot caster minions.

After that you can decide if you either want to max E or Q first depending on if you need damage or a longer stun duration.
Summoner Spells

Flash

duh

Ghost

I always use this. zooms

Barrier

Could work, but I like to build tanky if there is a lot of burst damage on the enemy team.

Ignite & Teleport

Both could be good choices.
Skin
Leprechaun Veigar. Imagine the enemies fear when they see a lightning fast leprechaun charging at them.

Thanks for reading! As mentioned, I really want to know how we can improve this. Please contact me (discord: poopface#8401) if you have questions or suggestions on how Zooming Veigar can become even better than it is.
