It's a very specific trick that I still myself have yet to master. I got to pull it off a few times here and there, but the practicality of it isn't something to really rely on unless you've mastered it like he has.
From what I recall, it involves having to face the wall in a specific position that somehow allows her to Q through it. As far as I remember, only the 1st and 2nd moves of her Q can do this. Not sure about the third.
I remember seeing a video somewhere about this. Lemme try to find it and link it here.

I can't do this jump reliably and I still roll Diamond players with her. This trick is not essential to good Riven play, so don't beat yourself up for being unable to do it.
Practice makes Perfect.
There's nothing wrong with what you're doing, you just need to practice some more.

Thank you jhoijhoi, Keondre, LaCorpse, The_Nameless_Bard, Arcana3, Apfeljack, Hogopogo, eddie199, Xiaowiriamu, and JEFFY40HANDS for the spectacular sigs!

Actually, it might be good to do every once in a while.
It's one juke that can save yourself from burning flash.
What are the chances of having a teamfight there where you need to gapclose over the wall?
Maybe 1 out of 10 games? or even 1/20.
Focus on the rest of the mechanics of the champ if you wanna get better with Riven. Focusing too much on minute details won't get you anywhere.

Here's the video I looked at to know what you were talking about, in case it's any help.

True. Sure the chance may not happen every time but at least that option is available. I mean, c'mon, what's the point of mastering a character if I don't know every trick he/she has got?

Thank you. It helped.
Yeah it'd help, but I'm pretty sure that trick would come easier if your riven mechanics were better as a whole.
If you get better with the champ tricks are probably the least of your concerns when it comes to actual application.
Think of Lee Sin.
The "Q--> Q--> Ward --> w --> kick" trick looks difficult and practice-worthy.
In reality? You learn the trick by playing more games itself. You'll be accustomed to the circumstances and will do it naturally when the opportunity comes. A person spending time in customs trying to practice that will probably need to spend quadruple the time to learn it and properly apply it.

He's good. But that's not the point. During his roaming about, he pulled off a nifty trick where Riven's Q's actually made her jump in, and out of a small terrain at the bottom lane tri-bush.
I've read rumors about this but never actually believed it till I saw it.
I tried it in a bot game earlier, and boy, was I disappointed. I ended up Q'ing the wall but was not able to jump over it.
What am I doing wrong here? How can you pull-off that trick?
