What the **** don't build
Blade of the Ruined King, your gapclosing ability is amazing already and it only gives 25 AD. It's a really niche item that in most games you have no business building because it cripples your damage output.
(The niche it fills: hard-countering champions with ******** escape skills like
Lightning Rush/
Pounce)
Just read my guide. Its contents are enough to get you to at least Gold/Platinum if you can internalize it.

no guide will get you platinum or gold just based on the contents. If you need evidence of this, look at solomid. Plenty of people read guides written by pros and people can't achieve these ranks. I really think you should retract that statement because its not even remotely true

I don't think gap closers have too much to do with BotRK being viable or unviable on Riven, but the main reason is just base damage on abilities is much better with flat AD
There are some lanes for which getting this item is a necessity because you can't accomplish anything without the active. Riven does get to auto anywhere from 3-6 times in a normal 1v1 engagement (and increased AS lowers auto animation recovery), so its passive is not entirely wasted. However, as was said already, you inevitably end up doing less damage per combo with this 3200 gold item than a bloodthirster.

Because they don't internalize it. It's like reading a textbook without processing the info and still failing the exam. If you really get the info into your head and practice, you will become better.

No amount of information will make you a better player alone. No guide is able to address every situation and there are too many variables in the game for it to do so. Reading a guide, memorizing, or whatever will not directly make you a better player. The information provided is a starting ground, it by no means directly results in skill. There isn't a guide on the planet that directly translates learned information to skill. I can't think of anything in the world that works like this either

practice is an external effort unrelated to the guide.
i'll repost this an bold it because I think it's important and off-base

No guide in the world can do this. And as I said previously in this post, practice is unrelated to the guide. The guide is a foundation giving tips on match-ups, builds, skills, etc. Nothing in the guide makes you a better player, it just provides information.
People are going to say i'm nit-picking. But when a claim is made that a guide alone, or "the contents of this guide" can get you X ranking, I think it's important to point out, because its simply not true.

Don't buy
Blade of the Ruined King on riven. Never!
1. All of riven's abilities scales with AD, which BOTRK doesn't provide.
2. While Riven does attack every now and then, she doesn't rely on it. she attacks in-between abilities so she's not gonna benefit from BOTRK's AS therefore wasting it's passive.
That's why
Riven should not buy BOTRK.

BT for Riven.

As may some of you recall, I made a thread asking if Riven is more viable as a tank or a damage goddess. Majority of the people said, go for the latter.
So, earlier in a ranked game, I did go for the damage route. But in-game, people were raging because we need more tanks. Apparently, one Malphite isn't enough. Anyway, after I bought the vampiric scepter, I thought, "would BoRK suit Riven? Would she find use for the slow? Or no? Since she doesn't need the extra AS since she's a caster and all."
Help me out here. :D
With your advise, I'm progressing little by little on how to play Riven properly.I am extending my arm, and wanting to shake all of your hands although I keep hitting my computer screen.
