try using painted pvc for the staff?
also, I'd recommend making the housings for the buttons out of modeling clay, painting it the color it needs to be, and then gluing glass beads like this into it. You should be able to glue some sort of clip or coil-less safety pin to the back to use them.
Also, use much nicer elf ears than that person in the picture did. UGH.

That's not bad ^^ Could you get a more "tight-knit" sort of shirt? A v-neck long-sleeved shirt would be closer to the splash art:

I am messing with the idea of a hextech Janna cosplay for halloween, since it's the kind of costume that allows you to cut a lot of corners and is relatively work/school appropriate.
1. I need help coming up with ways to make the turquoise buttons in Janna's costume. Painting them later is not the issue. I was hoping to get ideas for attaching them/making them. I was thinking of a clip-on paper mache thing I could put on belt loops? Not sure. I need other ideas. I don't want it to look paper-y or cheap when I am done, since the rest of the costume will look decent.
2. I have a cane sword (hidden DULL sword in a cane) from an old cosplay that I can use as the base for the staff, but am having issues with coming up with ways to attach the top part. I don't want to weld it. It will make it unusable as a cane for later.
To give you an idea of my resources, I have access to an industrial sewing machine, a wood shop, a rapid prototyping lab, a machine shop, and tools. My bottleneck is TIME. I need ideas for making these things quick. I have midterms this week.
Thanks guys!
