I still find it really disturbing that if this were some other (completely unknown) mentally unstable and depressed 18-19 year old who had been perma-banned, unbanned due to miscommunication or something, then rebanned none of you would even care. The fact that xj9 is popular does not change the fact that he did things that warranted getting permanently banned. What's the point of permanently banning someone if you're just going to let them appeal it because they said they'd behave? Especially when they STILL have not admitted they did anything wrong in the first place.
Ofcourse we would care but this case has been made public and i was a fan of XJ9 back in the day. Ofcourse its different but that doesn't mean that you should be disturbed by us. I don't think anyone on this thread said they wouldn't care if someone else was in a similar situation. Sorry but its just easier to relate to someone you know of, if you don't feel the same way then I'm seriously confused.
I was born nude but now i am dude
I can't relate to the guy, I don't actually know him and I deem his behavior unacceptable. I've been playing League since Sept 2010 and I've never even been warned about any "bad" behavior, let alone banned, because I'm either positive/neutral or I don't say a word besides maybe some sarcasm. I cannot stand behind removing a ban on a person whose popularity is largely related to them being toxic and is willing to do blatantly illegal things because something related to a video game pissed them off.

more reasons why he originally got banned
o-o Are you saying that there are more reasons to why he got banned or are you saying that those reasons are valid for his ban because you can draw a clear comparison between the incarnati0n case and xj9's and see quite a difference in discipline.
Also, I really don't understand the "if he wasn't famous people wouldn't care" sentiment. Just because people mention how XJ9 was a prominent figure doesn't make them not care about random people doing the same **** he did. The case is a matter of appropriate disciplinary standards. And to be honest, drama around public figures just draws more attention. That's how society works. The death of presidents or famous entrepreneurs simply stir more discussion than the death of a random civilian. It's not like people don't feel similar emotions for others in similar situations, people just tend to talk more about issues they have knowledge of. Riot issued public statements for a case that probably should've been non-existent until the situation was resolved.
And what you're saying about "people who are permabanned should just stay permabanned" doesn't really make sense because Riot has policies on reform (which applies to solo queue players)
"Indefinite: Indefinite suspensions are subject to review, but suspended players need to meet the highest standard of conduct over a sufficient period of time to be permitted back into the League.
What is considered a “sufficient period of time” may vary from case-to-case and will depend on the severity of the original offense and any offenses thereafter.
Indefinite suspensions are reserved for players at the more severe end of the scale who in the past would have received a permaban.
Indefinite suspensions are subject to review at the end of their minimum suspension term (see below)..."

Regardless, Riot really ****ed up big with this situation in how it was dealt with. I wonder what their next step is.

If you think that rapists and murderers should be banned even after finishing their sentence in IRL then i seriously have to question what the hell you're thinking.
I want to know what country you live in so I can avoid it because damn.
Are they seriously getting out after serving less than 7 years?
I'm also not saying that everyone who commits a crime should be banned (that would be impossible) but XJ9 was famous enough to get views so of course they had to do something. I'm not even sure how strict the ban was, because "on-sight" seems incredibly difficult to pull off.

Basically MOBAFire.

Did he though?
I can't say I'm an expert on him, but the things he did certainly did not seem bad enough to warrant a permanent ban.
Are you referring to the leak of his girlfriend's nudes as the completely unacceptable part?
He shouldn't be banned for that. He should be put in ****ing JAIL(or pay a massive fine). Because that's such a ****ing ****ty thing to do.
Pick an appropriate punishment for the ACTUAL crime he committed.
Permanently banning him from a game is just silly on so many levels.

XJ9 deserved to be perma banned in the first place, and I fully understand why Riot were making XJ9 an exception to the whole 'reform' policy thing. But the moment Riot ****ed up by "accidentally" unbanning him, they should have left him unbanned unless he did anything else that's worth banning for. Making him go through months of reform tests only to then ban him again, regardless of whether or not the unban was a mistake is just incredibly cruel and unjust.
Whether or not he admits to being wrong doesn't matter. So long as he understands not to do anything like that again, it's fine. Is it a risk to let him back? Yes, but considering RIOT ****ed up, XJ9 shouldn't be the one suffering the consequences.

@Searz It's not that I think banning him is an appropriate punishment for breaking the law, it's that he did it in reaction to things related specifically to a game. He broke laws because he was pissed off about a game (which he should be prosecuted for), so why is it unsuitable to also not allow him to play said game anymore as well?
General comment: it's ****ty that he was accidentally unbanned or something and then banned again, but what would you expect besides instant damage control in that sort of situation?

You need to log in before commenting.
And, yes, if you hadn't noticed already, I really have a problem with people assuming someone has changed when they won't even admit they ever did something wrong in the first place.
