I think Nasus doesn't NEED to lvl SF up first. The mana cost is to huge to be worth it, you just need to play passive and free farm and wither them every time they try to harass/when you want to harass.

Just depends on who he's in lane against, but with any of the champs I commonly lane solo top with, he's left with no other choice.

Alright, then baby sit your solo top and lose all your map control because Nasus can't defend himself.
My jungler will be busy destroying mid and bot lane and getting all the dragons.
Or if he's in the area he'll shoot top and we'll get a double kill.
You can't use junglers as a cop out for your champion being an average or a poor solo lane- That's called a duo lane if you camp top.
