2025 Plans for Teamfight Tactics

Riot has released a little sneak peek so players can know what to expect in Teamfight Tactics for 2025. Read up on the upcoming Revival set, Double Changes, and even a glance at Set 14, 15 and 16!

The Road Map

In a recent video on the Teamfight Tactics’ YouTube channel, Riiot had released a road map to give us some juicy insights into what we can expect in Teamfight Tactics over the course of the next year. The new year is almost here, so let’s dive into all of these upcoming TFT additions and changes!

TFT 2024 Recap and Learnings

In 2024, Riot experimented with a three-set format. The year began with Inkborn Fables, segwayed to Magic n’ Mayhem, and ended with the Into The Arcane set. Overall Riot is very happy with the structure, highlighting that the year felt very dynamic but not overwhelming. Tocker’s Trials and the Revival Events also added some much needed spice and novelty to the 2024 year. As such, they are going forward with a three-set structure and will be doing exactly that in 2025.

Of all the novelties and experimentations they did in 2024, Riot highlighted they’re particularly happy with Tocker’s Trials, and intend to delve even deeper into PvE opportunities for players. They intend to keep improving the game with quality of life changes such as the Team Builder update earlier this year and the upgrade to the Item Bench too. They are committed to trying new things in a nutshell.

2025 TFT Sets

While we don’t have all of the details quite yet, we did get an inkling into what Set 14, 15, and 16 are going to be about! Cyber City will be the theme of the first set, which is due to drop sometime in March. This set will likely heavily incorporate skins such as Anima Squad, Odyssey, and PROJECT.

Set 15 is set to debut during the Summer of 2025 and is described as a Choose Your Fighters in a shonen-style tournament arc. This will likely have units in the Empyrean, Soul Fighter, and perhaps Spirit Blossom themes?

Finally, Set 16 will begin just as the year is coming to a close and is described as a return to Runeterra. Rioters highlighted that this would be the “biggest set ever” so that’s certainly something to look forward to.

New Set Revival in January

Riot was also very happy with what they accomplished with the Heroes of the Dawn revival event and want to replicate that success with a new revival event in January. This time it will be a revival of the Festival of Feasts set. This set initially ran between January 21st, 2021 and April 28th, 2021, so it will be one heck of a throwback. Like during the Heroes Revival, Riot intends to bring back a separate, temporary ranked ladder for the revival set, which you can progress to earn rewards and even another couple of cute custom name plates for the remainder of the Into The Arcane set if you do really well.

Double Up Updates

One last thing to get very excited about is the upcoming changes to Double Up. Riot seems to be hinting at some greater reworks and updates, but what they have made explicit is their intention to add an option to play entirely custom lobbies of Double Up in TFT! You’ll be able to queue up with seven of your friends and duke it out as a four-duo lobby, to find out which one of you is the best duo. Riot says to expect this Double Up change to happen sometime in the first half of 2025!
