Everything about LoL Season 14 - Map, Gameplay, Items

The BIGGEST LoL Pre Season in years, learn all the details coming for 2024 (New Baron Form/Void creature, Mythics Removed/New Items, and the BIGGEST Map changes).

Season 13 is coming to an end, and while we still have one patch left two weeks from now (and one month for ranked to end), things are already shaking up in the PBE to what could be the biggest changes in the history of Pre Season.

Between the huge changes to terrain in the Map to the removal of Mythics (and a rework to Support Items), and the visual update of Baron (plus new creatures), we are probably getting the more extensive Pre Season since earlier years of the game.

A lot is coming in January, and we have a glimpse of it already in PBE.

This is going to be a big one, so without further ado let’s jump first into the changes to the Map:

BIGGEST Map Change in League’s History – Pre Season 2024 S14

Throughout the history of League of Legends, there has been a ton of changes to Visuals (Enhancement of the Map), new terrains in the Alcoves or the Base gates, and Bush changes, but in the end, not many of these changes affected laning distribution or gank pathways close to the ones we are getting.

Let’s start first at the top.

Top lane changes

Red S14

Side to side comparison. Top lane

The Red side wall has been significantly extended to make it harder for junglers to gank Top (unless you are Kayn). Also, this should also scare off roaming supports from camping your weakside Kayle.

As you can see in the image, the brush that used to hug the left side wall has been removed and replaced with a small pixel brush in the center.

In a recent Devblog that went way more in-depth digressing about the nature of the changes, Riot Phlox explained that the main goal for them to accomplish was to make things fair to both sides.

Expect these changes to Red side to be huge for competitive play, where it's known that playing as a weak side laner is significantly harder compared to the Blue side.

All in all, these changes should make Top Lane live up to the hype of being the premiere 1v1 dueling lane.

Mid lane changes

Red S14

Side to side comparison. Mid lane

The trend for Season 14 in the Mid lane is going to revolve around Mages, especially the more fragile ones that have been pushed to other roles (Lux, Brand, etc).

In terms of terrain changes to help them out, the bushes have been pushed further to the sides and new paths have been created to dissuade Junglers (and roaming supports) to 24/7 camp mid.

According to Riot Phlox, their main goal here was to make mid substantially safer for this class of characters at a fundamental level.

This does not only translate to the lane itself, but with new roam paths that are closer to your turret it allows for more non-committal rotation to the river, therefore helping out more fragile mages to have a say when fighting things in early.

Although these changes look great for mages or scaling picks it is safe to say that there’s a World where Talon (link to coach curtis video) uses these new paths and takes over everything, especially ganking the weakened bot side.

Bot lane changes

Red S14

Side to side comparison. Bot lane

While Top and Mid are getting changes toward safety, the bot lane ones are the opposite.

With the new path from Mid to Bot from Red side, the bot lane is going to be more vulnerable in Season 14.

The extra layer of safety is removed from the turret side in the Red side, before you needed to set up a huge wave to dive the bot lane, that's not the case anymore, and if you add on top of that the newly added extra bush... is too much.

Riot obviously will wait until the reaction of players once these go live so there's a chance of balance tweaks to help the bot laners if things go too south.

Lastly, there’s the addition of a pixel brush to the bot lane much like the one from Top. Besides that, there are not many changes for the bot lane.

Jungle changes

Red S14

Side to side comparison. Jungle Bot Dragon

With every lane changing, Junglers will need time to figure out how to impact laners and how priorities change in the game. Therefore, low key this role is going to be affected the most in Season 14 (Junglers suffering each new season).

Obviously, apart from the lane terrain changes there are a few important changes to Jungle terrain ones which entirely change the dynamics of fights around the two most important objectives: Dragon and Baron Nashor.

Changes to terrain in both of these objectives along with the new entries will make fights way more interesting, and you could say even more challenging when you consider the changes going up next(Just the Baron changes are enough to create an entire piece about it).

Gameplay Changes

If you were wondering, sadly, there will not be a Void event in 2024. Source: Riot Games.

Void is going to spread out all over the new Map, a few creatures will arrive and others will transform in the span of the game.

Let’s start first with the big boss of the Rift. The Baron Nashor.

3_Baron_Heads.png

From left to right, All-Seeing, Hunter, and Territorial Baron. Source: Riot Games.

Baron Nashor is getting an entire rehaul of its Visuals (looks way scarier), along with this update he’s now getting three brand new forms with different effects: Hunting Baron, Territorial Baron, and the All-Seeing Baron.

  • Hunting Baron will leave the pit unchanged but will blast all nearby enemies with lightning from above
  • Territorial Baron creates a wall in front of the pit and will pull Champions near him with his brand new hands
  • The All-Seeing Baron closes off the front and opens up both sides, creating a tunnel with this new tunnel pit

Finally, the visuals and music will change around the Baron pit when there’s fighting around it or other void objectives.

New Void Creature: Void Grubs

Fighting_Grubs_(1).gif

With this all-around change to the Baron, there’s one new Void creature being introduced to the Pit. These are the Void Grubs.

Spawning at the Baron pit at 5 minutes, this Void Grubs will grant a wide team buff called Hunger of the Void, this gives every player on your team bonus damage to structures in the form of damage overtime effect.

Not only that, if you manage to take at least five out of the six void grubs (they can spawn up to two times before Herald), you’ll be starting to summon one void mite when near the enemy tower.

If you take all void grubs, you and your teammates will summon two void mites to assist you instead of just one.

On a side note, Bel’Veth will get her True Form from this so this should be a huge buff to the Empress of the Void.

Mecha Herald

Rift_Herald_Normal_View.png

Not quite Mecha. Source: Riot Games

Well… it did not happen (was mentioned in this Devblog). What did happen is that the Rift Herald is getting a visual update that will look way more void-like. Apart from the novelty looks, Herald will spawn in 14 minutes (Voidgrubs will take his early game spot).

This new respawn time was done to combat core problems with Herald that led to frustration, especially for top lane players that end up being at the mercy of the Jungler (Ally or Enemy).

Is natural, it's painful to lose a turret first just because the opposing Jungler got Herald, despite you winning the lane.

112723_02CatDance.gif

Cat cultists. Source: Riot Games.

To address this they did a series of experimentations. After messing around with cat cultists (literally), and moving respawning manticores they finally end up with the Grubby and the new Herald.

New things you can do with the new Void Herald.

  • You can right-click the Herald to jump onto her
  • If you charge the Herald into a turret, it will do significantly more damage than if the Herald charged into one uncontrolled
  • Charging the Herald will spawn a ton of voidlings which apply the dot buff you gain from any void grabs you've slain in the game
  • If you run into an enemy Champion while riding the Herald, they will both be damaged and knocked airborne
  • If you collide with any terrain while riding the Herald, the Herald will take damage as if it has charged into a tower and you'll be knocked off and won't be able to ride it again
  • After the Herald has charged, you have to destroy whatever tower she's aggroed onto in order to reset her charge and be able to jump on her again

Red and Blue Buff changes

112723_16RedBuff.jpg

After minute twenty, Blue Sentinel and Red Bambleneck will transform into Voidborns. Despite getting increased durability to be harder to take down, the reward will be worth it, they will give the buff to the entire team.

Will work like Baron or Ancient Dragon fights, only teammates alive will receive the buff.

Rift Scuttler will dress up as a void born with new effects too. Now when slain, the Voidborn Scuttler will send out a massive Scryer’s Bloom effect that will reveal enemies around a massive ratio (Wards revealed will be reduced to 1 HP).

Void_Scuttler.png

These new transformation for the Jungle are serving a purpose according to Riot Phlox, the goal of the changes are to make the game more dynamic when there’s no objective to fight around (Dragon or Nashor). This particularly will create points of contention.

Lastly, Infernal Drake is going to give cinders that will buff your stats. Find one hundred to become a god.

Dynamic Music

New Music coming for fights around Void objectives. Now you will truly feel the dramatic nerve-wracking fights in the Baron Nashor decisive moments.

Baron Pit Dynamic Music. Source: Remus

Overall, all the terrain changes are going to make a HUGE impact on how we play the game currently, and gameplay changes are going to bring much-needed dynamism to the game. However, there's one huge change left though... Items.

Item changes

No more Mythics, but despite changing the Item system which is already big enough, a lot of items getting removed or changed (Passives and stats) there are also newcomers added to the game and even a few old favorites are returning (Brutalizer hype).

Not to mention, Stopwatch and the rune Perfect timing are gone. Things are railing up for a spicy year in both competitive and normal play.

Is no hyperbole to say that these Item changes are going to match the addition of Mythics (unironically) back in Season 2021, one example of a new item is the addition of the counterpart of Sunfire Aegis but with Magic resistance (and a broken passive).

Is it a lot, so for this section, I do recommend you to prepare to take notes or even consider re-reading to have a grasp of everything coming. Or simply have a crack once they are live.

Let’s start with the revamp to Mage Items.

Mage Items

LoL Item: Everfrost

What do I build with Sylas now? What the heck

Goodbye to Everfrost, Luden’s Tempest, Crown of the Shattered Queen, Leeching Leer, Demonic Embrace, Night Harvester, bust mostly… Stopwatch is out.

Although a few of these items were quintessential to many champions' kits (Sylas + Everfrost), we are at least getting respectable replacements in new items. For instance, one interesting addition is Malignance which will grant a passive called Ultimate Flames.

Ultimate Flames: Whenever you damage an enemy champion with your Ultimate, burn the ground beneath them for 3 seconds, dealing 60 (+6% AP) magic damage every second and reducing their Magic Resistance by (6-12 [level scaling]) for as long as they are on the burning ground.

Let’s jump into the changes.

Malignance

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Lost Chapter + Fiendish Codex + 900 gold
  • 80 Ability Power
  • 20 Ability Haste
  • 600 Mana
  • Ultimate Power: Gain 15 Ability Haste for your Ultimate.
  • Ultimate Flames: Whenever you damage an enemy champion with your Ultimate, burn the ground beneath them for 3 seconds, dealing 60 (+6% AP) magic damage every second and reducing their Magic Resistance by (6-12 [level scaling]) for as long as they are on the burning ground.

This will be especially useful for champions that spam Ultimate constantly (Anivia), or with ultimates like Swain who extend their duration over time. Imagine Swain using this with Liandries and melting everyone in team fights.

Good users of the item – Swain, Anivia, Corki (?)

Caster's Companion

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Lost Chapter + Hextech Alternator + 700 gold
  • 90 Ability Power
  • 20 Ability Haste
  • 600 Mana
  • Load: Gain a Shot Charge every 3 seconds, up to a maximum of 6.
  • Fire: Damaging abilities consume all Shot charges to deal an additional 40 (+ 8% AP) magic damage to the target and one additional nearby target per charge. If there are insufficient targets in range, for each remaining Shot, repeat the damage on the primary target dealing 35% of the damage.

AKA new Ludens but different. Hwei, Syndra, and Orianna are prime examples of champions who will love this item.

Good users of the item – Probably most AP champions to be honest.

Stormsurge

  • Total Cost: 2900 gold
  • Item Recipe: Hextech Alternator + Aether Wisp + 950 gold
  • 90 Ability Power
  • 10 Magic Penetration
  • 5% Movement Speed
  • Passive Stormraider: Dealing 35% of a champion’s maximum health within 3 seconds applies Stormsurge to them and grants the user 25% movement speed for 2 seconds. 20 second cooldown.
  • Passive – Stormsurge: After 2 seconds, Stormsurge strikes the target with lightning, dealing 100-200 (based on level) (+ 50% AP) magic damage to them. If they die to the lightning or before the lightning strikes, it detonates immediately in a large area around them and you gain 30 gold.

This should be great for champions that use Phase Rush, not only will give you tons of burst but will also provide mobility. One champion you could think of who would like this is Ryze. The extra mobility from both Phase Rush and Stormsurge should feel great.

Side curious note: If you are old you should recognize this name from somewhere, and yeah… it references this OLD keystone mastery called Stormraider’s Surge (The effect is pretty much the same) which was removed in Patch 7.22 – Season 2018. Phaserush took its spot.

Haunting Guise

  • Total Cost: 1300 gold
  • Item Recipe: Amplifying Tome + Ruby Crystal + 500 gold
  • 35 Ability Power
  • 200 Health
  • Passive – Madness:
    • For each second in combat with enemy champions, deal 2% bonus damage (maximum of 6%).
    • Returns to the game after being removed back in Season 10 with less power though.

Returns to the game after being removed back in Season 10 with less power though.

Good champions with the item: Rumble, Singed, Anivia?

Cryptbloom

  • Total Cost: 2850 gold
  • Item Recipe: Blighting Jewel + Fiendish Codex + 850 gold
  • 70 Ability Power
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • 30% Magic Penetration
  • Passive – Life From Death: Whenever you get a takedown on an enemy champion within 3 seconds of damaging them, create a healing nova on their location that heals allies for 50 (+50% AP). 60-second cooldown.

The new take to Magic Penetration, this should compete in a few scenarios against Void staff, especially to clutch out Teamfights with the healing.

Riftmaker

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Haunting Guise + Fiendish Codex + 800 gold
  • 70 Ability Power
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • 300 Health
  • Void Corruption: For each second in combat with enemy champions, deal 2% bonus damage (max 10%). At maximum strength, gain 10% (melee) / 6% (ranged) Omnivamp.
  • Void Infusion: Gain 2% of your bonus health as Ability Power.
  • Omnivamp updated with the following (now only exists on Riftmaker):
    • Omnivamp heals you for a percentage of damage you deal, with reduced effect (33% effectiveness) on minions and monsters.
    • Omnivamp heals you for the full amount with Pet or AOE damaged

It no longer grants True damage when fully stacked like previously, to compensate now Riftmaker is going to be the only item with access to Omnivamp.

Liandry's Torment

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Haunting Guise + Blasting Wand + 850 gold
  • 90 Ability Power
  • 300 Health
  • Passive – Torment: Dealing damage with abilities causes enemies to burn for 2% maximum health magic damage per second for 3 seconds.
  • Passive – Suffering: For each second in combat with enemy champions, gain 2% bonus damage (max at 6% bonus damage).

Severely nerfed and no longer granting Mana, Liandry’s has come back to its previous form before the addition of the Mythic system.

It is fair to say that is going to be used more as a niche item for its burn passive so expect Rumble to be a powerhouse again with this item.

Horizon Focus

  • Total Cost: 2700 gold
  • Item Recipe: Hextech Alternator + Fiendish Codex + 700 gold
  • 90 Ability Power
  • 20 Ability Haste
  • Passive – Hypershot: When you deal damage with Abilities to champions at 700 range or greater, reveal them for 6 seconds. Deal 10% increased damage to enemies revealed by Hypershot.
  • Passive – Focus: When revealing an enemy with Hypershot, reveal all other enemy champions within 1200 range of them for 2 seconds. 30-second cooldown.

Less damage more haste. The new passive Focus is going to be way more OP in fights around neutral Dragon or Baron Nashor, the 1200 range revealing is going to be great to scout enemies to gain an advantage, really good item.

Seeker's Armguard

  • Total Cost: 1600 gold
  • Item Recipe: Amplifying Tome + Amplifying Tome + Cloth Armor + 500 gold
  • 40 Ability Power
  • 35 Armor
  • Active – Stasis:
    • Use one time only to become Invulnerable and Untargetable for 2.5 seconds.
    • The user is prevented from taking any other actions during this time.
    • Transforms into Broken Armguard on use.

With Stopwatch being gone now Seeker’s Armguard is going to have the Stasis passive. This means that probably only AP champions (and maybe Jax) will get the Stasis. Tied to the changes coming to Zhonya’s Hourglass this will be game-changing (especially in competitive).

Shadowflame

  • Total Cost: 3200 gold
  • Item Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod + Hextech Alternator + 850 gold
  • 120 Ability Power
  • 12 Magic Penetration
  • Passive – Cinderbloom: Magic damage and true damage critically strikes enemies below 35% health, dealing 20% increased damage (reduced to 30% increased damage for damage over time and pet effects).

The change to the passive to reward more execution is going to be broken in champions like Syndra, who has execution within her kit. Expect this item to be a staple in the following months.

Cosmic Drive

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Kindlegem + Aether Wisp + Fiendish Codex + 450 gold
  • 80 Ability Power
  • 250 Health
  • 25 Ability Haste
  • 5% Movement Speed
  • Passive – Spelldance: Damaging an enemy champion with an ability grants bonus movement speed for 2 seconds.

Cosmic Drive is returning to give health so expect Sylas or Vladimir to love this item again.

Amplifying Tome

  • Cost: 400 gold (can you believe we actually did it!?)
  • 20 Ability Power

Rod of Ages

  • Total Cost: 2600 gold
  • Item Recipe: Blasting Wand + Catalyst + 550 gold
  • 50 Ability Power
  • 300 Health
  • 300 Mana
  • Passive – Eternity:
    • Restore Mana equal to 7% of premitigation damage taken from champions.
    • Restore Health equal to 25% of Mana spent, up to 20 Health per cast, per second.
  • Removed:
    • For every 200 healing or mana restored with Eternity, gain 35% bonus movement speed that decays over 3 seconds.

Pretty much the same but no longer a Mythic. The only point worth highlighting is the cost being lowered further, making it way easier to build compared to the other items that remain 3000 gold.

Zhonya's Hourglass

  • Total Cost: 3250 gold
  • Item Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod + Seeker’s Armguard + 400 gold
  • 120 Ability Power
  • 50 Armor
  • Active - Time Stop:
    • Enter Stasis for 2.50 seconds.
    • 120-second cooldown.
    • Stasis:
      • Become Invulnerable and Untargetable.
      • Cannot move for the duration.

A little more expensive but the new stats should compensate for it. However, no more Stopwatch.

Rabadon's Deathcap

  • Total Cost: 3600 gold
  • Item Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod + Needlessly Large Rod + 1100 gold
  • 140 Ability Power
  • Passive - Magical Opus:
    • Increases your total Ability Power by 35%

Grants 20 more AP but the Magical Opus multiplier has gone down from 40% to 35%.

Lich Bane

  • Total Cost: 3100 gold
  • Item Recipe: Sheen + Aether Wisp + Hextech Alternator + 150 gold
  • 100 Ability Power
  • 8% Move Speed
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Passive - Spellblade:
    • After using an Ability, your next Attack is enhanced with an additional 57 = (100% base AD + 50% AP) magic damage on-hit.
    • Spellblade grants 30% Attack Speed while available.
    • 1.5 seconds cooldown.

With Hextech Alternator coming back as a component this item should be way stronger in the upcoming season.

Verdant Barrier

  • Total Cost: 1800 gold
  • Item Recipe: Null-Magic Mantle + Amplifying Tome + Amplifying Tome + 550 gold
  • 40 Ability Power
  • 30 Magic Resist
  • Passive - Annul:
    • Grants a Spell Shield that blocks the next enemy Ability.
    • 60-second cooldown.

Talking about spicy items. Verdant Barrier will now grant the Spell Shield passive but with a longer cooldown (60 seconds). Just this change alone will make this Item way more prioritized in the game, however, the cost is way higher.

Banshee’s Veil

  • Total Cost: 3100 gold
  • Item Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod + Verdant Barrier + 50 gold.
  • 120 Ability Power
  • 50 Magic Resist
  • Passive - Annul:
    • Grants a Spell Shield that blocks the next enemy Ability.
    • 30-second cooldown.
    • Item cooldown is restarted when damage is taken from champions.

Way more expensive but will deal way more damage. Also with Needlessly Large Rod being a component should be more versatile, now you can choose between Zhonya’s and Banshee’s for defensive items.

Void Staff

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Blighting Jewel + Blasting Wand + 1050 gold.
  • 65 Ability Power
  • 40% Magic Penetration

More expensive than before.

Hextech Rocketbelt

  • Total Cost: 3200 gold
  • Item Recipe: Hextech Alternator + Kindle Gem + 850 gold
  • 90 Ability Power
  • 250 Health
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Active - Supersonic:
    • Dash in the target direction, though not through terrain, unleashing an arc of 7 rockets in the same direction that deal 125 (+ 15% AP) magic damage to enemies hit.
    • 40-second cooldown.

Less damage, more health but the best thing is that it costs only 2500. Expect Assassins to get their power spike way earlier.

Morellonomicon

  • Total cost: 2200 gold
  • Item recipe: Oblivion Orb + Fiendish Codex + 500 gold
  • 90 ability power
  • 15 ability haste
  • Passive - Grievous Wounds: Dealing magic damage applies 40% Grievous Wounds to enemy champions for 3 seconds.

One huge Sleeper change, with Morellonomicon being way cheaper (No longer grants health though) should be more accessible to all mages.

Nashor's Tooth

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Recurve Bow + Blasting Wand + Fiendish Codex + 550 gold
  • 80 Ability Power
  • 50% Attack Speed
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Passive - Icathian Bite:
    • Attacks apply 15 extra magic damage on-hit.

Cost less but gives less damage.

Closing Words in the Mage Items

There are tons of returning components and Items such as Hextech Rocketbelt and Liandry’s returning to their previous form before the Mythic system was added.

Quality of Life changes much like the reduction of cost to Morellonomicon granting access to Anti-Healing much affordable, or a new Magic Penetration Item.

Finally, neat changes to Banshee’s Veil and Zhonya’s Hourglass will make opting for these defensive items feel much more rewarding. Sadly the Stopwatch may affect Zhonya’s but it was a needed change for the game to avoid its prevalence in Pro play.

Overall, Meta in Mid is gonna drastically change, especially when you take into account the new Lethality Items.

Assassin Items coming

Duskblade of Draktharr and Prowler’s Claw are removed.

Both of these items are quintessential for a few champions, for instance, Qiyana or Rek’Sai combos with Prowler’s Claw. It is certain to say though, that both of these items brought their fair share of controversy to the game, especially when Drakkthar was basically dominating the bot lane meta on Miss Fortune and Varus (Not fun).

This Season aims to bring diversity to the pool of assassin items and to also add a few unique items like the Hydra version for Assassins (Profane Hydra).

Let’s dive into the changes.

New components: Rectrix and Brutalizer

The Brutalizer is making a comeback since being removed at the end of Season 5. The second item being added to the pool is Rectrix, which will provide attack damage and movement speed.

Rectrix

  • Total Cost: 900 gold
  • Item Recipe: Long Sword + 550 gold
  • 20 Attack Damage
  • 4% Movement Speed

The Brutalizer

  • Total Cost: 1337 gold
  • Item Recipe: Glowing Mote + Pickaxe + 212 gold
  • 25 Attack Damage
  • 10 Ability Haste
  • 8 Lethality

New Items coming to the Assassin class

Voltaic Cyclosword

  • Total Cost: 2900 gold
  • Item Recipe: The Brutalizer + Kircheis Shard + 863 gold
  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Passive – Energized:
    • Moving and attacking will generate an Energized Attack.
    • Dashing and using stealth stack Energized 75% faster.
  • Passive – Firmament:
    • Your Energized Attack applies 100 bonus physical damage.
    • Slows enemies for 99% for 0.75 seconds (melee only).

The old effect from Duskblade that slowed enemies with an attack is returning in this new item. Although it is now tied to an Energized attack.

This item may be good with Quinn? Really can’t tell but there’s gameplay from players abusing it with Gnar and looks disgusting.

Profane Hydra

  • Total Cost: 3400 gold
  • Item Recipe: Tiamat + The Brutalizer + 863 gold
  • 60 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • 20 Ability Haste
  • Active – Heretical Slash:
    • Deal 65% total Attack Damage physical damage to nearby enemies.
    • Increases to 97.5% total Attack Damage physical damage to enemies below 30% health.
  • Passive – Cleave:
    • Attacks deal 40% AD (melee) / 20% AD (ranged) damage to other units within 450 units of the target hit.

Unlike other Hydra items, this will be great for executing enemies. Expect this item to be OP on in the likes of Talon, who will certainly love the extra pushing and assassination power.

Zoomies

  • Total Cost: 2700 Gold
  • Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Rectrix + 800 gold
  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • 5% Move Speed
  • Passive - Murder After being out of combat with Champions for 8 seconds gain increased Lethality. This Lethality lasts for 3 seconds after dealing damage to champions.
  • Passive - Murderspeed: If a champion dies within three seconds of damaging them, gain 150 decaying Move Speed for 1.5 seconds.

Great for assassins who want to go in and then swiftly run away. This item for sure will be good on Qiyana, and even Talon in combination with the new Hydra item.

Hubris

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Caulfield’s Warhammer + 900 gold
  • 60 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Passive – Ego:
    • Upon killing an enemy champion, a statue of yourself is erected.
  • Passive – Eminence:
    • When a champion that you have damaged within the last 3 seconds dies, gain 10 (+1 per Statue) Attack Damage for 60 seconds.

The new stacking Item, from all of the new items coming to the assassin role this one is certainly among the most interesting. Expect this item to be crazy good with Draven or any heavy snowball assassin in the game.

Opportunity

  • Total Cost: 2700 gold
  • Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Nether Shard + 800 gold
  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • 6% Movement Speed
  • Passives:
    • Murder: After being out of combat with Champions for 8 seconds gains bonus Lethality. This Lethality lasts for 3 seconds after dealing damage to champions.
    • Murderspeed: If a champion dies within 3 seconds of damaging them, gain 150 decaying movement speed for 1.5 seconds.

The same as Zoomies but with a different component.

Serylda's Grudge

  • Total Cost: 3200 gold
  • Item Recipe: Brutalizer + Last Whisper + 413 gold
  • 45 Attack Damage
  • 15 Lethality
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Passive – Rancor:
    • Gain 22 (+12%) bonus Lethality Armor Penetration.
  • Passive – Bitter Cold:
    • Damaging abilities slow enemies below 50% Health by 30% for 1 second.

Apart from the different components, the item will no longer grant armor penetration so expect this item to be built mostly on assassins.

Axiom Arc

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Brutalizer + Caulfield’s Warhammer + 563 gold
  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • 25 Ability Haste
  • Passive - Flux:
    • Whenever a Champion dies within 3 seconds of you having damaged them, refund 10 = (10 + 35% Lethality)% of your Ultimate Ability's total cooldown.

Different components only.

Youmuu's Ghostblade

  • Total Cost: 2700 gold
  • Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Rectrix + 800 gold
  • 60 Attack Damage
  • 18 Lethality
  • Passive - Haunt:
    • Gain 40 Move Speed while out of combat.
  • Active - Wraith Step:
    • Gain 20% Move Speed and ignore collision with other units (Ghosting) for 6 seconds.
    • 45-second cooldown.

By removing Mythics Youmuu’s Ghostblade cost less gold, no longer grants ability, and is built with different components. Besides that, the passives are still the same.

Umbral Glave

  • Total Cost: 2600 gold
  • Item Recipe: Long Sword + Serrated Dirk + Long Sword + 800 gold
  • 50 Attack Damage
  • 15 Lethality
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • Passive - Blackout:
    • When spotted by an enemy Ward, reveal traps and disable Wards around you for 8 seconds.
    • Your attacks deal triple damage to Wards.

Pretty much the same but now costs more.

Edge of Night

  • Total Cost: 2800 gold
  • Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Tunneler + 700 gold
  • 50 Attack Damage
  • 15 Lethality
  • 250 Health
  • **Passive - Annul:**
    • Gains a Spell Shield that blocks the next enemy Ability.
    • 40-second cooldown.
    • Item's cooldown is restarted when damage is taken from champions.

Edge of Night cost less compared to before but it also comes with a reduction of the health values, which is a pretty significant nerf. On the bright side, it gives more Lethality.

Serpent's Fang

  • Total Cost: 2500 gold
  • Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Pickaxe + 700 gold
  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 15 Lethality
  • Passive - Shield Reaver:
    • Dealing damage to an enemy champion reduces any shields they gain by (50% for melee | 35% for ranged) for 3 seconds.
    • When you damage an enemy who is unaffected by Shield Reaver, reduce all shields on them by (50% for melee | 35% for ranged).
    • Does not reduce the size of shields that only block magic damage.
    • Item performance differs for melee and ranged users.

A small buff stays the same but it costs less.

Lowkey is one of the biggest changes. Eclipse no longer grants Lethality and the shield's passive strength is being lowered also. The only saving grace is that now costs 300 gold less and gives more AD.

Tank Items

Season 14 is going to say goodbye to the following items: Turbo Chemtank, Radiant Virtue, Evenshroud, Gargoyle’s Stoneplate, Aegis of the Legion, and Lifewell Pendant.

Compared to other classes Tanks are not receiving a lot of new items but this should not fool you, the ones added are unique and will fit missing counterparts (Sunfire Aegis' Armor vs Hollow Radiance's Magic Resistance), or grant utility in new ways (Trailblazer’s movement speed buff)

Jumping into the changes.

Hollow Radiance

  • Total Cost: 2,800 gold
  • Item Recipe: Bami's Cinder + Spectre's Cowl + 550 gold
  • 600 Health
  • 40 Magic Resistance
  • 100% Base Health Regeneration
  • Passive - Immolate:
    • Taking or dealing damage causes you to begin dealing magic damage per second to nearby enemies (increased by 25% against minions) for 3 seconds. Taking or dealing damage refreshes the duration of this effect.
  • Passive - Moonburn:
    • Killing an enemy (non-ward, non-structure) deals 30 (+3.5% bonus HP) magic damage in an area around them.

The magic resistance version of Sunfire Cape. With Hollow Radiance expect champs like Zac or Amumu to do much better. Both these rely on Immolate to have better waveclear, this however led them to be weak against AP counterparts, Hollow Radiance could change that.

Unending Despair

  • Total Cost: 2800 gold
  • Item Recipe: Chain Vest + Kindlegem + Ruby Crystal + 800 gold
  • 400 Health
  • 55 Armor
  • 10 Ability Haste
  • **Passive:** While in combat with champions, every 7 seconds, deal magic damage to nearby enemy champions, healing for 175% of the damage dealt.

The healing value for this item could be great but still cannot see which champions will benefit the most from this item… maybe Dr. Mundo? Sion?

It can work though as a replacement for Jak’Sho the Protean which got the healing part removed from its passive.

Kaenic Rookern

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Spectre’s Cowl + Negatron Cloak + 850 gold
  • 350 Health
  • 80 Magic Resistance
  • 100% Base Health Regeneration
  • Passive – Magebane:
    • After not taking damage from champions for 15 seconds, gain a magic shield for 18% of your maximum health.

This is massive against AP comps, you can mitigate a lot of magic damage from an enemy engagement. Low-key is a great item for the big objectives fights (Baron and Dragon).

Trailblazer

  • Total Cost: 2400 gold
  • Item Recipe: Winged Moonplate + Chain Vest + 800 gold
  • 250 Health
  • 40 Armor
  • 5% Move Speed
  • Passive - Lead the Way:
    • While moving, gain 20 bonus Move Speed.
    • At max speed, create a trail that speeds up allied champion's Move Speed by 15% of yours.
    • Your next Attack discharges the bonus Move Speed and Melee Champions Slow the target by 50% for 1 second.

Great supportive item, can see a world where this Item could be really broken on the likes of Nunu and Rammus. Still, we will need to wait until it gets released on live servers.

Jak’Sho the Protean

  • Total Cost: 3200 gold
  • Item Recipe: Chain Vest + Negatron Cloak + Ruby Crystal + 1100 gold
  • 200 Health
  • 50 Armor
  • 50 Magic Resistance
  • Passive - Voidborn Resilience:
    • For each second in champion combat, gain a stack, up to a maximum of 5 stacks.
    • At maximum stacks become empowered, increasing your bonus resists by 25% until the end of combat.

That massive nerf to Jak’Sho the Protean, despite the resistance numbers being much better at max stacks, the fact that it now lacks the healing part will make the item feel worse.

You can expect this item to fall out of flavor but be a great option if you want maximum armor/mr. I could be wrong about this one though.

Dead Man's Plate

  • Total Cost: 3100 gold
  • Item Recipe: Winged Moonplate + Chain Vest + Ruby Crystal + 1100 gold
  • 300 Health
  • 45 Armor
  • 5% Move Speed
  • Passives:
    • Shipwrecker:
      • While moving, build up to 40 bonus Move Speed.
      • Your next Attack discharges built up Move Speed to deal up to 40 (+100% base AD) bonus physical damage.
    • Unsinkable:
      • The strength of movement slowing effects is reduced by 25%.

Shipwrecker max stack no longer slows the target, to compensate, the passive Unsinkable makes slows less effective. Expect this item to be even more obnoxious in Garen.

Force of Nature

  • Total Cost: 2800 gold
  • Item Recipe: Negatron Cloak + Winged Moonplate + Ruby Crystal + 700 gold
  • 400 Health
  • 50 Magic Resistance
  • 5% Move Speed
  • Passive – Absorb:
    • Taking magic damage from enemy Champions grants a stack of Steadfast (up to a maximum of 8) for 7 seconds.
    • Enemy Immobilizing effects grant an additional 2 stacks.
    • One spell can add a new stack of Steadfast every 1 second.
  • Passive - Dissipate:
    • While at 8 stacks of Steadfast, gain 60 Magic Resist and 10% increased Movement Speed.

Massively buffed. Force of Nature now gives less Magic Reistance but the bonus magic resistance from Dissipate is doubled.

Warmog's Armor

  • Total Cost: 3100 gold
  • Item Recipe: Giant's Belt + Winged Moonplate + Crystalline Bracer + 600 gold
  • 750 Health
  • 5% Move Speed
  • 200% Base Health Regen
  • Passive – Warmog's Heart:
    • If you have at least 1300 bonus Health, restore 31 = (5% maximum health) Health per second.
    • Gain 10% Move Speed if damage hasn't been taken within 6 seconds (3 seconds for non-Champions).

Warmog’s Armor passive now requires more bonus Health to get the extra bonus, however is massively buffed. For Tanks that stack HP like Dr. Mundo, this item is going to be a staple next season.

Heartsteel

  • Total Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Giant’s Belt + Crystalline Bracer + Ruby Crystal + 900 gold
  • 800 Health
  • 200% Base Health Regen
  • **Passive – Colossal Consumption:**
    • Charge up a powerful attack against a champion over 3 seconds while within 700 range of them.
    • The charged attack deals 131 = (100 + 5% maximum Health) bonus physical damage, and grants you 16 = (12+0.6% maximum Health) permanent max Health.
    • 30-second cooldown per target.
  • Passive - Goliath:
    • For each 100 max Health, gain 5% increased size, up to 40%.

No longer a Mythic but pretty much the same. Changes to highlight are the new passive Goliath that makes you increase 5% of your size for each 100 max Health. Quick Suggestion: Play it with Cho’Gath.

Sunfire Aegis

  • Total Cost: 2700 gold
  • Item Recipe: Bami's Cinder + Chain Vest + 900 gold
  • 450 Health
  • 50 Armor
  • Passive – Immolate:
    • Taking or dealing damage causes you to being dealing 12 = (12 + 1.75% bonus max Health) magic damage per second to nearby enemies (increased by 25% against minions) for 3 seconds.
    • Damaging champions or epic jungle monsters with this effect adds a stack, increasing subsequent Immolate damage by 10% for 5 seconds (max stacks 6).

Pretty much the same except for a few nerfs to the health given and damage from the Immolate passive.

Randuin's Omen

  • Total Cost: 2700 gold
  • Item Recipe: Warden's Mail + Giant's Belt + 800 gold
  • 400 Health
  • 55 Armor
  • Passive - Rock Solid:
    • Reduce incoming damage from Attacks by up to 7 = (5 + 0.35% max Health), capped at 20% of the Attack's damage.
  • Passive - Resilience:
    • Critical Strikes deal 30% less damage to you.
  • Active - Humility:
    • Briefly Slow nearby enemies by 55% for 2 seconds.
    • 60-second cooldown.

No significant changes apart from number tweaks.

Iceborn Gauntlet

  • Total Cost: 2700 gold
  • Item Recipe: Sheen + Ruby Crystal + Chain Vest + 500 gold
  • 200 Health
  • 50 Armor
  • Passive – Spellblade:
    • After using an Ability, your next Attack is enhanced with an additional 58 = (100% base AD) physical damage.
    • Creates a frost field for 2 seconds.
    • Enemies that move across the field are Slowed by (15% = (15% + 0.004% max Health) | 9% = (7.5% + 0.002% max Health)).
    • 1.5-second cooldown.

Cost less but no longer grants Ability Haste (Maybe K’Sante stops rushing it?) and Health numbers are down too. Still, the Spellblade remains the same.

Frozen Heart

  • Total Cost: 2,300 gold
  • Item Recipe: Warden's Mail + Glacial Buckler + 400 gold
  • 70 Armor
  • 400 Mana
  • 20 Ability Haste
  • Passive - Winter's Caress:
    • Reduces the Attack Speed of nearby enemies by 20%.
  • Passive - Rock Solid:
    • Reduces incoming damage from Attacks by up to 7 = (5 + 0.35% max Health), capped at 20% of the Attack's damage.

Cost 400 Gold less, this Item should gain great value in Season 14 as the premiere anti-attack speed comps. Along with Randuin’s Omen, this combo will make for a living nightmare for all Yasuo and Yone mains out there.

Fighter Items

Goredrinker image

Removed Items and Changes: Goredrinker, Divine Sunderer, Whip, and Silvermere Dawn are removed.
