Read up on all the new PBE changes to get up to date on the upcoming 14.24 Patch, including new Arcane skins, Viktor's VGU, Summoner Rift's Noxus Takeover, Fractured Jinx's release, and more!
These changes appeared on PBE on the 20th of November, but have been slowly shifting over the past week, and may continue to do so. As such, keep in mind that not all of these changes may make it to the live patch. If you’d like to check any of the following changes out before Wednesday, hop on PBE and queue up!
New Cosmetics - Arcane
The final batch of Arcane skins are being released this Wednesday with Patch 14.24. You can find Arcane Professor Heimerdinger, Arcane Last Stand Ekko, and Arcane Vander Warwick (spoiler alert) for 1350 RP in the store starting later this week. You can also get Arcane Savior Viktor for 1820 RP. As a legendary skin, Viktor comes with unique VFX, voiceover, and more!
Arcane Fractured Jinx Exalted skin is coming to the live servers on Wednesday. This is the first of a slew of upcoming Exalted skins - a brand new skin tier which is meant to represent the very best Riot has to offer for each specific champion. Fractured Jinx comes with three forms that you can change during the game - Shimmer (AKA Menace) Form, Hero of Zaun Form, and Powder (AKA Tinkerer) form. Players can switch freely between these forms throughout the game. Fractured Jinx has two distinct models, custom VFX and HUD, as well as a dynamic voiceover.
Sounds great, where can I buy it? Well Fractured Jinx, and all of the upcoming Exalted skins in fact, will not be purchasable directly. Much like the Treasure Realms system in place for Teamfight Tactics, Riot has added the Sanctum to League of Legends. In the Sanctum, you’ll be able to spend a special currency for a chance to acquire Fractured Jinx. Your maximum investment will be 32,000 RP (roughly $250), but you have a 0.5% to acquire the skin each time you spend 400 RP.
Client Changes
The Sanctum
The “Loot” tab has been reworked to include three tabs: Hextech Crafting, The Sanctum, and the Mythic Shop. Within the Sanctum, players can purchase a new type of currency - Ancient Sparks. Each Ancient Spark costs 400 RP and players are limited to purchasing 160 Sparks per day. Players can use Ancient Sparks in the Sanctum to try to acquire rare and valuable loot - Exalted skins, Mythic Skins, Exclusive Chromas, Skins, Icons and Emotes.
Right now and for the next few weeks, players can acquire Fractured Jinx in the Sanctum. They are guaranteed to unlock this Exalted skin after 80 instances of using Ancient Spark, but have a 0.5% chance to acquire it each time they roll. This will be the only time that you can acquire Fractured Jinx, after which, presumably, Riot will have released a new Exalted skin to roll for.
Mythic Shop Updates
Mythic content now has a new home - the Mythic Shop. Aside from the usual assortment of skins, you’ll be able to acquire a brand new type of cosmetic starting with Patch 14.24 - Nexus Finishers. The Kabooooom! Nexus Finisher will be in the Mythic Shop starting this Wednesday.
New Mythic New Rotation
You’ll also be able to acquire the Winterblessed 2022 Wreathguard Chromas and icons for Diana, Shaco, Swain, Warwick, Zilean and Zoe, for 40 Mythic Essence each.
Finally, you’ll find the 2021 Arcane champion icons for Caitlyn, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Jayce, Viktor, Jinx, and Vi for 5 Mythic Essence each.
Summoner’s Rift Changes
Noxus Has Arrived
As a jumpstart to the new themed Season Structure coming to League in 2025, Noxus has already arrived and conquered Summoner's Rift, bringing heaps of aesthetic and gameplay changes. Aside from changing the look of the Rift, as well as the shop, turrets, and minion garb, Noxus has brought a new mechanic called Feats of Strength, a new jungle plant, a new Epic jungle monster, and more!
To get the smaller changes out of the way first, Nexus Turrets will now respawn after 3 minutes, giving your team another chance at glory. First Blood will no longer grant 100 bonus gold nor generate 50 bonus gold toward the assist bounty, and Turret First Blood no longer grants 300 bonus gold either. Instead, these feats are now Feats of Strength.
Feats of Strength / Blessing of Noxus
Feats of Strength will be replacing the gold rewards from First Blood and First Turret with the goal of awarding these early game advantages in a more interesting way than just a sack of gold.
There are three different objectives which grant Feats of Strengths:
First Blood
First Tower
First three Epic Jungle Monsters (including: Drakes, Herald, any three Grubs)
If you complete two out of any of the above three Feats, your team will gain the “Blessing of Noxus” buff. This buff essentially rewards the winning team with boot upgrades. Immediately upon winning the contest, each player on the Feat-winning team will retroactively gain an upgrade to their Tier 2 Boots. Then, after completing two Legendary items, a (single, it seems) player on the team with the Blessing of Noxus will gain a unique Tier 3 upgrade as well.
Atakhan Spawns
Atakhan is a brand new Epic Monster that will spawn at 20:00 either near top or bottom lane. Which side he spawns depends on which side has seen more champions damage and kills by 14 minutes. Atakhan's pit will spawn with permanent walls to carve out his territory. To facilitate this ancient, hungry demon, some monster timers have been pushed back. Rift Herald now spawns at 16:00 and Baron Nashor spawns at 25:00.
Atakhan has two forms - Ruinous and Voracious. Ruinous Atakhan spawns in higher-action games. When killed, your entire team will permanently gain increased effects from subsequent Epic monster rewards, and he'll leave behind a field of the new jungle plant - Blood Roses for you to collect. Blood Roses grant minor, but permanent, bonuses - small amounts of XP and a stacking Adaptive Force buff. You'll find Blood Roses before 20:00 minutes as well - around places where champions have died.
Voracious Atakhan will grant a temporary, one-time rebirth buff when killed, similar to Akshan's Passive. Additionally, Voracious Atakhan slayers will gain a permanent increase to gold from champion takedowns.
Viktor Visual & Gameplay Update
Riot hinted that one champion from Season 2 of Arcane would be getting a visual overhaul. Last week we learned that the lucky champion would be Viktor. Check out all the details on Viktor’s Visual and Gameplay Update in our last week’s article!
If you’re just looking for the tl;dr, then you should know that starting Wednesday Viktor will have updated lore, voiceover, splash art, in-game model, and VFX. Several of his skins will get new splash arts, and Prototype Viktor’s price will be increasing from 520 RP to 750 RP. You can still buy Prototype Viktor for 520 RP in the store right now and until Wednesday, however. Only his ultimate, Arcane Storm, has gotten a significant gameplay shake-up - becoming larger and more deadly now with each takedown.
