Read up on Set 14's unique mechanic—Hacks! The new mechanic affects various core systems, providing some variety and spice to every TFT match.
New Mechanic: Hacks
The Anomaly has been stabilized, and a brand new mechanic will take over Teamfight Tactics for the next few months as Cyber City thrives. In Cyber City, Hacks will alter each game in a variety of ways, affecting core systems such as The Shop, Augments, and even how items function. Hacks are always beneficial, and impact all players at the same level, though in differing ways. Each game will typically see about three Hacks in total.
Mechanically, Hacks are an evolution of the Inkborn Fables mechanic, Encounters, with a few key differences.
Firstly, Hacks won't drastically change the way the entire lobby plays TFT, the way that certain Inkborn Fable Encounters did. Hacks will operate on existing systems, with the goal of adding variability with agency.
Encounters that were obviously unfun for players (such as Lillia's Augment Shuffle) and which did nothing (such as Sett's Workout) will not exist in Cyber City. Every Hack has a purpose and will ultimately benefit the players, albeit in ways that won't break the game.
Augment Hacks
Augment Hacks impact which Augments you’re offered and, sometimes, even how many. The following are just some of the many upcoming Augment Hacks you may encounter:
Fourth Augment: This doesn’t mean you can choose between four Augments—it’s better than that. With this Hack, you will be able to select a fourth Augment later on in the game, bringing you to four Augments in total.
Augment Timing: This Hack causes Augments to appear at random rounds. Unlike the widely-disliked Lillia Encounter in Inkborn Fables, this Hack will only ever move the Augments to an earlier round than normal.
One Gold or Two Silver: Choose between one, potentially stronger, Gold Augment or gain two Silver Augments instead.
Shop Hacks
The following are just some of the many upcoming Shop Hacks you may encounter:
Lucky Shops: This Hack causes shops to be more lucky. Like all hacks, Lucky Shop will affect all players at an equal rate. The Hack will impact one random round, once per stage. During this round, everyone's first shop will be lucky, containing units tailored to their team.
Two-Star Shops: Occasionally, a hacked unit will appear at two stars in your shop instead of the usual one-star.
Carousel Hacks
The following are just some of the many upcoming Shop Hacks you may encounter:
Tailored Items: Each unit on the carousel will have two completed items attached, both of which will be from the unit’s recommended items list.
Anvil Carousel: A carousel with anvils in place of champs and items.
Hacks From Yesterhacker's Past
Treasure Dragon: At Stage 4-7 choose from a rollable package of loot. Augments can appear during the Treasure Armory.
Hacked Eggs: Players will receive Loot Eggs. The loot power is based on how long the egg takes to hatch. Hacked Eggs appear in Hacked Loot Orbs—you’ll know them when you see them. There’s also a Hack that will open up an Armory of three different lengths (rounds) of eggs to choose from, with short, medium, and long variations that have prize power that scales with duration to hatch.
Miscellaneous Hacks
Tactician Health: A small amount of Tactician Health has a chance to appear in some Hacked Loot Orbs.
Unstable Item Components: Also available in Hacked Loot Orbs, Unstable Item Components transform into a different item component each round. Think Pandora’s Items, but for one or two specific components.
Take it or Split it?: Opens up an Armory that presents two choices for all players: take 10 gold or split 30 gold from whoever chooses the latter.
Sentinel Armory: Pick one of three Sentinels with three items each. These Sentinels will all have items of the same class and be: Tank Sentinel, Frontline Attacker Sentinel, or Backline Sentinel.
