[25.14] New Champion: Yunara

Yunara joins the League of Legends next Wednesday as Patch 25.14 goes live. Read on to get to know League's latest marksmen and see what she can do!

Yunara: The Unbroken Faith

Unwavering in her devotion to lonia, Yunara has spent centuries cloistered away in the spirit realm honing her skills with the Aion Er'na, a legendary Kinkou relic. Despite all she has sacrificed, Yunara's vow to rid the land of disharmony and strife remains unbroken, as does her faith. But the world that now awaits her—and the shadow of an ancient threat risen once more—will test every ounce of her resolve.

We're now in the second patch of the second half of the Ionian season, and how better to cap off the season than by releasing a champion that embodies everything that's unique and beautiful about the region? Yunara will be joining the League of Legends roster starting next Wednesday as Patch 15.14 debuts, and you can already test her mettle in the PBE servers right now.

Yunara is a marksman—the first one since Smolder was released in January of last year. Yunara is a ranged marksman who relies on attack speed, critical strikes, and on-hit effects. Like most other marksmen, Yunara has very little crowd control and somewhat limited mobility. Her E increases her movement speed but is designed as a way to get into a fight rather than leave it, as it grants increased movement speed when heading towards visible enemies. However, during the duration of her ultimate, her E becomes a dash, giving her the perfect gap closer to engage or disengage entirely.

To get a better understanding of her lore and personality, you can check out the following video! In the next few days, Riot will update her champion page as well, and you’ll be able to totally immerse yourself in Yunara’s story.

Yunara’s Abilities

Vow of the First Lands

passive

Yunara's Critical Strikes deal 10% (+ 10% per 100 AP) bonus magic damage.

Cultivation of Spirit

Q

passive

Yunara's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage on-hit. While this ability is inactive, her basic attacks on-attack generate a stack of Unleash for 6 seconds, increased to 2 stacks against  champions. The stacks refresh on subsequent attacks, stack up to 8 times, and expire by one every 0.5 seconds after the duration.

active

Yunara unleashes for 5 seconds: gaining  bonus attack speed, dealing additional bonus magic damage on-hit, and augmenting her basic attacks to fly faster and spread to each enemy near the target, dealing 30% AD physical damage.

Each spread attack applies lifesteal and on-hit effects (30% for on-hit damage), and will critically strike if the triggering attack does. Spread attacks deal 250% damage against minions below 30% maximum health.

Arc of Judgement

W

Arc of Ruin

W

Yunara launches a spinning prayer bead in the target direction that briefly grants  sight of its surroundings as it travels and lingers upon hitting an enemy for up to 1.5 seconds, slowing down significantly and resetting its remaining duration. Upon reaching maximum range, it will expand and linger for another 1 second. The initial hit against each enemy deals magic damage and  slows them by 99% decaying over 1.5 seconds. While lingering, the bead deals magic damage to nearby enemies every 0.25 seconds.

Arc of Judgment deals 50 / 75 / 100% (based on level) damage against  minions and  executes them if they would be killed by 6 more damage instances from the linger effect.

Yunara fires a beam of spirit magic in the target direction that deals 50 / 150 / 250 (based on Transcend One's Self's Rank) (+ 175% AD) (+ 100% AP) magic damage to enemies hit and  slows them by 99% decaying over 1 second, as well as granting  sight of the surrounding area.

This ability counts as an ultimate ability and is the upgraded version of Arc of Judgment during Yunara’s ultimate.

Kanmei’s Steps

E

Untouchable Shadow

E

Yunara becomes  ghosted and gains  bonus movement speed, decaying over a few seconds. The movement speed is 50% more effective while facing a nearby  visible enemy  champion.

Yunara  dashes in the target direction. Untouchable Shadow  resets Yunara's basic attack timer. Arc of Ruin can be cast during the dash.

This ability counts as an ultimate ability and is the upgraded version of Kanmei's Steps during Yunara’s ultimate.

Transcend One’s Self

R

passive

Arc of Ruin's base damage and Untouchable Shadow's dash speed scale with Transcend One's Self's rank.

active

Yunara enters Transcendent State for 15 seconds, during which each of her basic abilities are empowered:

(Q) Cultivation of Spirit: Automatically becomes active at no cost, with the duration increased to Transcendent State's.

(W) Arc of Judgment: Upgraded into Arc of Ruin, which has no cost and has its  remaining cooldown reduced by 80% upon both entering and exiting the state.

(E) Kanmei's Steps: Upgraded into Untouchable Shadow, which has no cost and has its  cooldown reset upon both entering and exiting the state.

Yunara Skins

Default Yunara

Considering Yunara’s connection to Ionia and the overarching theme of the season, we might have expected Yunara to have gotten a Spirit Blossom skin alongside all the other recent additions to the skinline. However, her base line is already quite on-brand for the Spirit Blossom aesthetic, so Riot has decided to go into a slightly different direction and introduce a brand new skinline—Spirit Blossom Springs!

Spirit Blossom Springs Yunara

Epic Skin (1350 RP)

Yunara will be the first Spirit Blossom Springs skin, and it’s coming in Patch 25.14 next week, alongside Nightbringer Hecarim, Nightbringer Yuumi, and Dawnbringer Kalista. However, fret not, because t's already been confirmed that in the following Patch, Patch 25.15, several new Spirit Blossom Springs skins will be added to the store.
