So this matchup is all about movement. You need to be aware of his Q range and dodge accordingly. As the lane progresses Aatrox will become aware of your dodging patterns so try to be unpredictable. If you get hit by one wrong combo you either die, blow flash or have to base so your movement is crucial if you want to win!
Pro tip - often aatroxes start out with trying to get e - q1 poke on you. If you manage to dodge it they will q1 and then e q2 (the big slash) when you go for a minion. The only counterplay for it is to see it coming and to dodge it before he does it. If you do dodge it aatrox has no more cooldowns to touch you and you can punish.
If you have swiftness boots you can run out of his w, else youre screwed if he lands it. its on a long cooldown so play around it if he misses. If you get caught by his w, I recommend flashing early, because worst case you might flash and then still get pulled back. Only take fights when you have ignite, it doesn't matter how low he is, please only commit to a kill with ignite.
As long as you dodge stuff you will win this lane and its minor, if your movement is bad this could be very difficult
Akali
Go the standard PTA build because riftmaker hp will allow you to survive her all in. Buy a null magic mantle on your first base to reduce the chance of a level 6 all in.
Poke early, dont group with minions (dont let her your q you and the minions), buy a null magic mantle. Only fight her when you have ignite. Its a skill matchup so you need to know your boundaries and commit to the fight if akali goes on you. Don't try to flash akali ult to be honest. Later in the game use zhonya after your first burst rotation and try let her die to poison while her r2 is running out.
Akshan
I prefer Fleet footwork with liandry because akshan can only win through all in, fleet footwork will keep you healthy enough that he cant get a cheese kill with ignite and ult so you will always by default win.
Put 3 points into Q and skill q at lvl 1 and just poke him every time he steps up. Important to note: only time he has solokill pressure is lvl 1 and 2 so don't go for all ins and just try to poke. Always prioritize dodging his q over doing your own damage, if he doesn't land his q his dmg is halved and he has a rough time proccing his passive.
Camille
I prefer Fleet Footwork because you can just prock it whenever she goes for a w.
Try to dodge her w by going perpendicular to it or by baiting it out (not terrible if you dont, but will make lane easier). Q her second q or she deals lots of damage. Be aware of enemy jungle pathing because she has excellent gank setup. Play in your wave once she engages with e (again try to walk perpendicular to the skillshot) and place a shroom and you should win early game. Try to shroom close to walls where camille usually hookshots, so that she hookshots into a shroom. Late game she beats you so try to poke a lot without getting killed by the jgl in the process. Zhonya intelligently with your q cooldown.
Cassiopeia
Fleet Footwork with liadndry will give you the best chance to survive and be useful midgame, dont fall for rapidfire cannon, its bait
If cassio knows how to play, youre doomed. Dodge q's and r's obviously by turning around, run away from her E if she lands a q and try to poke her with your own q when you have an opening. Try to perma splitpush so that she doesn't take over the game, but really - you can't play the game EVER.
Cho'Gath
Go fleet footwork with swiftness boots and cut down. Cho Gath got buffed way too much and now has too much sustain and very low cooldowns. All you can do is to keep poking and maybe you will get a dive/kill on a bad cho (with bad i mean anything under master so yeah). Its important to dodge q when you suspect a gank because it spells immidate doom with flash r. Get Liandrys and Demonic Embrace for the double %hp burn if he is going tank. In general you can't really kill him and he scales really well so sadly riot ****ed up and its just hard.
Darius
Go the standard PTA build to allow yourself to win 1v1.
You basically either kill darius when he runs into you or you run from him simple as that. I like killing the Darius so I go PTA+ignite. Use shrooms to kite him and dont get hooked early or you kinda just die
Dr. Mundo
Go PTA (Take cut down) and cull.
Buy oblivion orb early/nashor. Dodge his Qs and keep your ignite for his ult. Perma push him in and harass him under the tower. Be aware of his all in and spamm DPS items as much as possible. Its a statcheck matchup and if you cs poorly or die you will have a bad time. Thus its very important that you keep up in items.
Diana
Go the standard PTA build, with a ruby crystal early. Make sure to go resolve second to survive all ins later on.
All assassins toplane play out the same way. You push early, maybe you can dive at lvl 3 and then eventually they get lvl 6 with ignite and you're in trouble. Make sure to dodge major abilities and go in once the cooldowns are down. Buy hp/resistances early, zhonya is often good early.
Ekko
Go the standard PTA build, with a ruby crystal early. Make sure to go resolve second to survive all ins later on.
All assassins toplane play out the same way. You push early, maybe you can dive at lvl 3 and then eventually they get lvl 6 with ignite and you're in trouble. Make sure to dodge major abilities and go in once the cooldowns are down. Buy hp/resistances early, zhonya is often good early.
Fiora
Go the standard PTA build. Zhonyas early can help.
This is a super skill matchup that requires good movement. Care about a possible q w poke in the early game. Reset your vital by walking out of her passive range and walking back (the vital will be in a better position then). Always evaluate your hp and whether fiora can all in (its her main win condition), so be careful when you are pushing and try to freeze as often as possible. If fiora ults, stand with your back to a wall to make it impossible for her to prock the 4th vital. Play in your wave with shrooms, ignite her early and you should be fine vs 99% of fioras. Zhonya early is good and is used to wait out fiora ult and have enough time to blind her a second time.
Gangplank
Go Fleet Footwork, if you struggle a lot in this matchup take second wind.
Get control of the wave early and keep pushing. I take Dorans ring with 2 pots, but you can go dorans shield to survive the lane. Trade through his corruption potion while blowing through your potions and dont back down. Try to use bushes to block his vision and make qs harder. Spam ping your teammates once he is lvl 6, or else they die like bonobos. Practice barrel last hit timings and kill them before he can set anything up, else he can zone you. Bait him to use his combo if the GP is good by walking up to cs and then instantly turning around. At around lvl 9 when he has essence reaver and you have nashor you are actually stronger than him and you win most all ins.
Garen
PTA with cut down. Go boots into swifties or berserkers with w max second, because the only way you lose is all ins. After garens changes its hard to stomp lane as he can clear waves quickly with e, but its still a good matchup where you usually outscale.
When garens run to you, just run backwards. Its that simple. Dont turn around to aa or his q will land. Once q is over you can poke him while he is running. Try to aa him so that his passive doesnt heal too much.
Gnar
You can go PTA and cheese him lvl 1 to threaten dives (better blue side for easier jgl access) or go fleet footwork to match his fleet footwork.
Gnar usually just doesnt deal enough dmg in any fights. If you just aa q him he usually loses. Do beware of his lvl 6 all in and try to dodge as much as possible. Play very agressively early game and respect his gank setup with mega e. In the midgame you usually let his mega run out and try to kill him as mini.
Gragas
Go Fleet Footwork because of gragas poke and all in threat
Gragas Q poke is hard to dodge and has a massive hitbox so you need to predict his qs and instantly dodge when he throws it. If you dodge a lot he wont prock manaflow band and go oom a lot more often. If he throws a q on the ground, make sure you position in a way where he cant ult you into it. If you're low hp there is a high chance of gragas e flashing on you, so you can predict it quite often. Sadly gragas is overbuffed with extremely strong items so its impossible to kill him
Graves
Go the standard PTA build.
Graves wants to be constantly pushing, do not allow him to push and neutralize the lane. You hard beat him, so just remember to constantly auto attack minions if he is attacking them too. Don't leash so graves can't lvl 1 q and shove the wave. Make sure to stand behind your minions so that he can't auto you, especially if your blind is on cd. Ofcourse don't stand next to the wall so that he can't q you. Be aware of his all-in threat once he gets eclipse, but if you play lane well you're fine. Small note: if graves is right in your face there's a small chance of him hitting you through blind, its sad but whatever.
Gwen
Go the standard PTA build. Currently you kinda just kill her whenever she all ins.
Keep your ignite for her lvl 6 and don't let her e q you without being able to push her back. In all ins at lvl 6 flash her last tick of ult. Her W stops your Q so make sure you are within it when you fight. Always make sure you have your ignite when trying to go for a kill.
Hecarim
Go the standard PTA build.
It should seem simple, yet hecarim has lots of sustain with w and corrupted potion and doesnt need that much economy to be successful. He can also run ignite top and together with his ult make your life hell. Try to poke him as much as possible early, you can win lvl 6 as long as the jgl isnt there. Later on you should be able to burst hecarim.
Heimerdinger
Go Fleet Footwork to survive lane by auto attacking krug/gromp.
Dont waste too much time attacking the towers, but do attack them early game. The only time you have a realistic chance to kill them is lvl 1 turrets and MAYBe lvl 2 turrets. He can replenish them but its good to keep up pressure in lane. Its mostly a farm lane where it depends if he lands skillshots or if you dodge and q poke him down. Usually noone can kill anyone and you both just force each other to back and lose cs/platings. Heimer just wins by constantly pushing and the only way you win is by exploiting him when he is low on mana or needs a base, else there is little you can do.
Illaoi
Go the standard PTA build. Put three points in w before you max Q
Go boots refillable potion into swifties or berserkers. Dodge her skillshots, kill her tentacles and youre fine. Sounds a bit idioticly simple but as long as you respect her and dodge well its not a difficult matchup. Dont call your jgl, in low elo she will just kill both of you.
Irelia
Go the standard PTA build, but put 5 points into Q early (not optimal but easiest to play)
However because the matchup is GIGA snowbally. I recommend grasp+domination. I further recommend putting atleast 3 points into Q as most of her Damage is auto attack based. You will run into mana issues with this build, which is why I recommend a lost chapter Item early, usually Liandries because Irelia goes Goredrinker nowadays. Its a real skill matchup that tests how good your movement and poking is, which is why I enjoy the lane (however when I lose I'm sad) If you die lvl 4ish she will freeze the lane and you will be sad, so dont die. Be mindful of her preparing minions to dash for to engage on you. Dodging e is very important, as its a major source of her dmg. Lvl 6 a lot of irelias want to all in so either flash it or call your jgl. Lvl 7-11 you win all ins with ignite and even later on you outscale her in value in teamfights
Jax
Go aery if youre confident or fleet footwork if youre not to kite him. Optionally you can start with cloth armor and 4 pots to get through laning phase. The more agressive the jax plays, the harder the lane is, so cloth 4 can save you from those struggles.
I recommend getting 3 points into q
Jax can sort of just Q E on you and you cant do that much besides Q him back and then poke him out. Poking is difficult due to corrupted potion and tp. If he q's onto you try to throw a shroom on the wave, after he lost his burst there is a 5 second window where you can usually punish before he can jump on you again. If you get a jgl gank you can snowball the lane. If you fall behind youre doomed (stat check)
Jayce
You can go both the standard build and burstmo, I would decide based on what you like and how the enemy team looks like.
Mostly skill matchup, however eclipse and good scaling can make Jayce lane really hard. Dodge the e q (play in your wave and position according to his position). Shroom the wave when he goes in with hammer Q and Q him. He sort of wins the short trades with his hammer form so you should respect him during those
Kalista
You can go both the standard build and burstmo, I would decide based on what you like and how the enemy team looks like. Take 3 points into q because she is mostly aa based.
Most kalistas that you will face are not good and will not use their champ correctly and beat you. So just Q her/dodge her Q and be careful of her e resets on minions. You should win all ins with ignite and shrooms in the wave. Call your jgl and her lane is doomed. Her only way of neutralizing the lane is maxing q and poking you with it, so remember its strength and don't forget that she can poke through the minions.
Kayle
You can go both the standard build and burstmo, I would decide based on what you like and how the enemy team looks like. Take 3 points into q because she is mostly aa based.
Punish her early and call your jungler for dives, care about her powerspike. You have to zone her super hard with your riftmaker sustain and you can even play between the two towers to zone her off exp, the more exp you deny the better you will do.
Kennen
Go the standard PTA build, take unflinching and legend tenacity and build a ruby crystal early, consider a zhonya in your first three items.
Kennen is a weird matchup where he does have an all in etc, yet his poke can be unreliable (easy to dodge) and his all in can misfire. In general the threat is still very real though and if you're not careful you will get oneshot. This is why I recommend a tanky approach with tenacity in your runes. You want to be constantly pushing so that once kennen is lvl 9+ he can't just poke you with his q's
Kled
Go PTA (Take cut down) and lots of attack speed.
Be careful of his all ins and gank setup with e. Use your Q when he is on you with his W. When kled is in his small form you need to be careful because your burst is not very strong and he could turn around a fight. In general you just poke him and dodge his q's and youre fine. Call your jungler for counterganks because his dive is very good due to tower aggro resets
Lucian
You can go both the standard build and burstmo, I would decide based on what you like and how the enemy team looks like. Take 3 points into q because he is mostly aa based.
Lucian is surprisingly tough because he isnt as hindered by the Blind as one would expect. He can also go corrupted potion+cookies, which means that his sustain is good. Furthermore he can go ignite, so he can trade evenly with you.
First you need to always blind his passive, lvl 1 he might try to auto e auto passive you, and you need to q him during his e or he will prock PTA and win lane. Just keep q'ing him and play in your minion wave. At 6 his culling is huge so be careful about that.
You can shroom him when the wave bounces back to you and kill him, so try to play mostly for poke and assasinations
Nocturne
Go the standard PTA build.
Nocturne is gonna push you in. You cant stop him. But you can harass him in the meantime and if he is bad maybe get a kill. If he plays noc top he can only ult in the jgl or mid, so call out any roams. Go ninja tabi and/or seekers armguard so that he cant 1 shot you at lvl 6. Basically the entire lane is uninteractive, with kill pressure if he is bad. You outscale lategame but he is stronger midgame.
Malphite
Take Fleet Footwork with second wind.
Malphite pressed Q. Its super effective! Malphite pressed R. You're dead!
Grab a ruby and harass him early (Goal is to get huge cs lead and win through item lead). When building your nashor or riftmaker make sure to buy the flat ap first, so that your fleet footwork healing is as high as possible. Make sure to keep his passive shield down as much as possible. Flash his ult and you're fine. Malphite is pretty gankable early game.
Maokai
Go PTA (Take cut down) and attack speed.
Maokai just sort of w's you and you die. Dont go close to bushes because of his e (unless early game to zone him away). Dont go for harass when he wants to cs with his q (you will probably get hit by it). Look at their junglers pathing because maos gank setup is crazy. If mao all ins without his jungler commit with ignite and try to kill him (doable with agressive build and PTA). Be alpha
Mordekaiser
Go PTA (Take cut down) and attack speed. Take boots + refillable and cull on your first base.
It sounds simple, but as long as you dodge his e and q youre gucci. However if you get hit by it you die. Have fun dodging! Get qss for his ult and just splitpush all game
Nasus
Go Phase rush.
With phase rush he cant do much. Poke him a ton. If he cses with e he wont be useful later on. Q him when he goes for q to deny him stacks. Prock your phase rush a bit after he uses w because his w duration is longer than your phase rush.
Again I dont think there are many good neeko players (even in challenger, only quinncidence knows how to play her). As long as you dodge her q's and e's (very predictable) you will be fine. Try not to get hit by her empowered w hit (just back off when she does it). Be careful of gank setup with her R. Later on teemo is much easier to play than neeko so you can outvalue her in teamfights.
Olaf
Go Phase Rush with boots +refillable into swifties + unflinching and w max second.
Dodge his q's and run immidately if he hits you, because you will die if you dont. Later on your outvalue him due to scaling, just survive early and concede cs. Ignite late due to his passive. His ult stops your q but removes resistances so you can blow him up (you will need to tank his autos though so you need to know your dmg)
Ornn
Go fleet and just farm forever
Level 6 youre in danger because of his ult one hitting you. Dodge his q e. Its a matchup where you cant do anything so poke where you can and just splitpush so that he cant group. Deaths are almost expected due to how his 6 is realistically undodgable
Pantheon
Go grasp with boneplating so that you dont lose early trades.
Dont go for trades because his e makes him win all of them. Q him when he w's on you because your q blinds his auto attacks. Lvl 6 with ignite you can go for an all in once he w's you by throwing a shroom on yourself. Be careful of dives and ganks (you dont have many options so just manage waves correctly and track their jungler/call yours)
Poppy
Go the standard PTA build.
Poppy is deceivingly tanky, so she is difficult to kill. Try not to trade when her passive is up. Dont get close to walls or she will e you. Otherwise you can poke her out, however you will end up scaling about the same. If she all ins you just shroom the wave with ignite and you probably win it
Quinn
You can go both the standard build and burstmo, I would decide based on what you like and how the enemy team looks like. Take 3 points into q because she is mostly aa based.
Only time when she wins trades is lvl 2 by interrupting your auto attacks with e and landing her q if you don't stand behind your minions. Your damage is higher so you should be fine. Push so she cant roam
Renekton
Go the standard PTA build. Buy a ruby crystal early.
Be careful of dives with their jungler. Use your q when he wants to use w to completely block it. Lvl 6 he will want to all in but you can kite him. Try not to be in his q range (atleast dont let him q and kill minions at the same time). Most renektons in lower elo will move incorrectly so you can poke him down and he wont get realistic openings to go in without the jungler. Respect his prowlers claw spike, his all in midgame is very strong and he outstats you.
Rengar
Go the standard PTA build.
Rengar just heals your dmg with w and denies poke by sitting in his bushes. Play towards the river and just farm. Try to either push waves to force him out of his bush or freeze it in front of his tower so that he struggles farming. WIthout the jungler you should win all ins with ignite. Main problem is not dying to ganks and not overstepping into him in lane due to his bush range. Concede a few cs and you will be fine, but its difficult to play.
Riven
Go the standard PTA build. Buy a ruby crystal early. I don't recommend boneplating in master+ because riven can easily prock it.
Lvl 2+6 she wants to all in, so if you poke her beforehand or are prepared to flash her ult you will be fine. In general you win all ins against her but its important to have good movement to not take free damage from her q combos.
Qiyana
Go the standard PTA build, with a ruby crystal early. Make sure to go resolve second to survive all ins later on.
All assassins toplane play out the same way. You push early, maybe you can dive at lvl 3 and then eventually they get lvl 6 with ignite and you're in trouble. Make sure to dodge major abilities and go in once the cooldowns are down. Buy hp/resistances early, zhonya is often good early.
Rumble
Go the standard PTA build. Take second wind if you tend to struggle in this matchup.
Try and farm, dodge his e and trade after he uses w. His q outdamages you so youre a bit stuck. Make sure you keep your blind for when he overheats so that he cant oneshot you with overheated autoattacks horribly. Get ruby and nullmagic and just hope that your team is better or that you can get a better position a teamfight. In
Ryze
(dodge)
You can go both PTA for early cheese or just fleet to survive while you hope for a better team. Ryze is significantly scarier with comet and scorch instead of phase rush.
Problem with ryze is that you cant rly outplay him. Lvl 1 a good ryze just w's you. You have to auto q him back. lvl 2 you should try to stand back because his e w rly destroys you, so just push the lane. Dont stand close to the wave when he uses his e q's and dodge his q's since you will be standing outside your minion wave a lot. Try to abuse a kill onto him with a jgl gank or from lvl 6-11 with your passive+shroom. You dont win short+long trades so only hope is jungle pressure, cheese or him just really playing terribly.
Samira
Go the standard PTA build. Buy a ruby early and consider going zhony a early to counteract her ult.
Samira is surprisingly difficult because she can space you with her q and you can never blind her due to her w. Her all in is also pretty strong so there's not too much that you can do. Mostly just push and try to get q poke on her.
Sett
Go PTA if youre confident or Fleet Footwork if you're scared
Go boots into swifties with w max second.
If you just run you wont get hit by his e.
If you see him using q e you need to w away from him and not turn around or he will land his e.
If he somehow lands his e anyways, just like with shen try to blind him right before you get hooked in, because usually sett will Q right after his e
Dont go for harass when he uses w and instead just run out.
If you took a long trade with sett and he didn't use w yet, stop the trade and just let his rage bar run out
Lvl 6 he wants to engage or even worse throw you into his tower so make sure to distance yourself.
Your poke deals no dmg due to his passive so just farm and hyper outscale him.
If for some reason you still struggle with this matchup then buy qss and he cant ult you.
Shen
You can go electrocute with the standard PTA build because electrocute procks through shen W.
Get boots first, however w max and swifties are optional. As long as you dodge his e youre gucci. If you cant dodge it q him during his travel time so that his q auto attacks dont deal as much dmg. Try to poke him in lane but never under the tower (free e for him). Hard shove him in so that roaming means that he will lose cs and exp. Spam ping your teammates once he is lvl 6 or they will die like bonobos.
Shyvana
Go the standard PTA build.
Shyvana is surprisingly hard to punish because she just farms the minions with her e and all ins you at lvl 6, especially if its ignite tp shyvana at 6 be careful, her base dmg is insane. You shouldn't fight her and back off. Imo you can't really kill her, harass her early game and focus on farming.
Sion
Go Fleet footwork (cut down and unflinching minor runes) with boots+refillable potion, swiftness boots and w max second into the normal PTA build (demonic embrace has more value)
You basically have to dodge his skillshots and youre fine. If you dont dodge them you will die quickly. If it isnt the baus he will do mistakes and give you free harass. His q hitbox is a lot larger than it seems so always run perpendicular to it and you should be okay (same with his ult). Due to your large amount of movement speed and small hitbox many sions will fail their q's and release it too late. Q him when he dies, because zombie sion deals a ton of damage. Sion w deals full dmg even if the shield is only 2 hp big so dont go for trades if you werent able to poke his shield down before it explodes.
Singed
The easiest matchup in the game. Go the standard PTA build.
Just harass him in lane and he cant cs. Dont get flung into his w under tower or you will die. Level 6 he might all in but you should win with ignite and your shrooms. If he proxies just hope that your jgl deals with it, else you just farm. Later on he can 1v1 you if he is somehow even (which he shouldn't be) but by that point you should be outvaluing him in teamfights.
Swain
Go the standard PTA build.
Swain is surprisingly strong when he presses his ult and he has a lot of easy abilities that aren't dodgeable once he all ins you, try to cheese him lvl 1 and dodge his e at all costs, as it sets up his other major abilities. Prepare shrooms to kite back to for his ult and ignite him once he ults but you should be able to win the trade.
Sylas
Go the standard PTA build.
You can hard harass him early. Be careful of long trades later on where he can prock w twice (usually means you lose). Sylas is surprisingly squishy so you can blow him up. You can bait him if you think you will win by allowing him to hit his e. In all ins his ult isnt very useful against you because it takes so long.
Syndra
Go the standard PTA build. Cheese lvl 1 and go swiftness boots or merc threads. Constantly push in the early game until she gets lost chapter and around lvl 5-6 and can just bully you out of lane.
Even if she isnt top, by the nature of the champ you cant do anything. Pray that you have the zoomies, dodge everything, build defensively and hope your champ does something. If syndra is mid/bot she makes your teamfighting rough too, which is why I added her here.
Tahm Kench
Go Fleet footwork with cut down and unflinching. Take boots + refillable pot and buy swiftness boots asap, then transition into the standard PTA build (liandry and demonic are valid alternatives).
Use your huge movement speed advantage and small hitbox to prevent tahm to q you. You can hear his w so be prepared to dodge it (its always dodgeable no matter what angle). Don't harass him too much under tower as his ult is a death sentence. Don't underestimate tahm kench at low hp as his q heals him a lot and his shield is decent as well at lower hp values. If you constantly push tahm kench in he will have trouble csing and his w engage will never work due to your swiftness boots+unflinching running away.
Talon
Go the standard PTA build, with a ruby crystal early. Make sure to go resolve second to survive all ins later on.
All assassins toplane play out the same way. You push early, maybe you can dive at lvl 3 and then eventually they get lvl 6 with ignite and you're in trouble. Make sure to dodge major abilities and go in once the cooldowns are down. Buy hp/resistances early, zhonya is often good early.
Teemo
Wtf ure getting hacked.
Tryndamere
Used to be an easy matchup. Now even. You have two options: 1. Stand your ground with ignite and PTA and try to kill him. 2. Go Fleet Footwork and kite him. I prefer the second option. Use your q once he e's into you and kite back into your tower. Place defensive shrooms so that you can kite him. Go seekers armguard (into zhonyas later on) and sorc/tabis (preference). Do 3 points into Q, followed by E max. If you max q you can go into a bush and legit stealth in front of him if he used his e. Lategame try to kite him and get his ult out, then go into zhonya to refresh your Q cooldown. This way you can legit win mid/lategame.
Trundle
Go the standard PTA build.
Really simple matchup, q when he goes on you, ignite when he ults
Urgot
Go the standard PTA build. Take unflinching to reduce his ult and q slow (swiftness boots are okay)
Your Q stops his W. Until lvl 13ish you just deal more damage than him and kick his ***. Afterwards no matter what build you do, if you are even he will be quite tanky and have a bit of kill pressure. Thus its important to shut him down early, to snowball, to get enemy camps and then to kill the rest of the team, blinding him and dealing with him at the very end. Be careful of gank setups with his r at 6 (very strong slow), care he has good lvl 1 if he goes E and if you get hit by E you may be in trouble.
Volibear
Go the standard PTA build.
I used to think this matchup is hard. However if you just play alpha, constantly harass and play with PTA+ignite he will die before you. Always make sure to Q him before his Q lands. Try to have weird movement whenever he e's, so that he can't land it on you. If he tries to all in you, expecting you to run but then instead you run towards his tower he may miss his r+e and just die. Try not to give him a 2nd W, it goes through Q, heals a lot and damages you a lot.
Viego
Go the standard PTA build.
Make sure you are always pushing because it can be a bit difficult to deal with him if he pushes into you and harasses you with q. Respect his e and don't let him w you from it and you will be totally alright.
Vladimir
Go the standard PTA build. Cheese level 1
Trade agressively early on. Dont trade if he gets empowered q. With ignite you can always kill vlad because he will panic w and lose too much hp. Ask for the jungler and set him behind so that he cant become monster late game. Even late game vlad doesnt run any resistances so you can blow him up and zhonya his ult burst. Go morello against his healing (if he is stupid he wont go mr and you 1shot) If youre really good this is playable but else it iwill be hard for you to find the right openings.
Wukong
Go the standard PTA build.
You can q his q and win the all ins, but you need to be careful of double ults with his clone and of his gank setup for his jungler. Since his passive only gives him armor you can sort of win every all in after 6, however laning phase can be rough due to his stickiness. In the current 12.4 form wukong isn't that strong and doesn't have very good items to build vs teemo so you straight up win the statcheck
Yasuo
Go the standard PTA build. Prioritize zhonya to stop him from knocking you up later on.
Yasuo is a skill matchup. Try to auto him right before his passive is up so that your poison tick can prock it. Try to be unpredictable with your q because he can windwall it. With shrooms once he starts to dash around you can sort of plant them in his face and kill him, however extremely good yasuos can outplay you. Its difficult to explain in a guide, because the matchup is heavily dependant on your auto spacing and how you react to his q's
Yone
Go the standard PTA build.
Try to bait his w because else his shield+dmg will always outrade your auto+q. If he e's away from you because he is low hp you can often just wait out his e and place a shroom on his shadow, eventually killing him. Be very aware of his q3 tornado, as he can setup his ult and w. This is also why at lvl 3 you should always back off if he has tornado and wait out his cooldown so that he can't e q3. Later on zhonya helps against his combos, but yone can be really annoying.
Yorick
Go the standard PTA build.
Yorick doesnt really die. You can poke him early but after 6 his dps is strong. You HAVE to dodge his e if you want to survive. You HAVE to predict his w or you will blow flash/die to ganks. Q him when he goes for q's so that he cant get ghouls up as quick. When he gets his ult try to attack it if its pushing the wave. Otherwhise you just wait for your jungle in laning phase. Try to teamfight before he becomes a splitpush monster
Zac
Go the standard PTA build.
Consider swiftness boots + w max second and oblivion orb. Prioritize csing later on over trying to kill him, it can be very risky.
The lane is going to be really easy initially, but later on he can engage on you at any time with maxed out e and set up a ton of ganks and there is no real counterplay.
Zed
Go the standard PTA build, with a ruby crystal early. Make sure to go resolve second to survive all ins later on.
All assassins toplane play out the same way. You push early, maybe you can dive at lvl 3 and then eventually they get lvl 6 with ignite and you're in trouble. Make sure to dodge major abilities and go in once the cooldowns are down. Buy hp/resistances early, zhonya is often good early.
Zilean
Go Burstmo and max Q.
Zilean is a pain in the *** as he can basically guarantee a double bomb combo by pressing e q w q. This is why I recommend going unflinching + swiftness boots to deny his slow and often only get hit by 1 q. Play very aggressive early game, cheese level 1 in lane and push him in as zileans early csing is very difficult. Later on zilean outscales you with everfrost and the best you can hope for is catching some cs under the tower, but its a real pain.
K'Sante
Fleet footwork or PTA should work well in this matchup. Riftmaker or Liandry should both be good. Treat this as any other juggernaut really, just weaker. I haven't played this matchup a lot so its hard to tell. TECHNICALLY you should be favored. Try to have the push so that he can't stack his q (just like vs yone). One he has 2 stacks on his q focus on dodging it over anything else. You should win most all ins simply because your blind is so powerful. If you think that he will all in maybe keep your blind until after K'Sante ults, since it dramatically increases his auto damage. If he is charging his w Shield you usually have the timer to throw a shroom in the wave and guarantee hitting him.
Karma
Difficult matchup especially because of her W gank setup, you can win isolated 1v1. Go Fleet Footwork to deal with her poke and swifties to run out of her w. Bait out her mantra Q in the early game. Once she has liandry she can mantra Q into w into mantra Q so just farm waves and outscale her in teamfights. If you dont die in lane youre usually more impactful because they struggle with facechecking objectives without a tank top.
Gwen
Press the attack and Fleet Footwork are both good. Usually you would go wits end into riftmaker. If you feel funny you could go aery q max, but she can tank your q dmg with her hallowed mist (w). You should bully her SUPER hard early game and get an item lead, so that her all in isnt strong. She SUPER spikes on riftmaker, so thats the first time she will have threat on you. Besides that just blind her when she dashes on you (e) and avoid her e q true dmg.
Cassiopeia
Teemo has no synergies with any champions. This may sound bad but it means that your champ fits into close to every teamcomp. Cass is the one exception.
Your E gives her free E's. Also super late game insurance. Your shrooms make it easier for her to close the gap

Scale to late with shroom Teemo or Go ham with a bunch of hp and split Teemo. I recommend the main build thats in this guide which is shroom based Teemo as it is very easy to play despite the shroom nerfs.
Teemo is strong right now and you can definitely win with him! Good luck!
Introduction
I am the best Teemo in EuW and 1.7k LP/top 4 EuW at my peak. I have reached challenger in multiple seasons playing only Teemo, so I will teach you how to play Teemo!
Please check the notes on the runes, items, matchups etc. This is the major content of this guide and where you will learn the most, the sections below are only for additional information that can't be contained within the sections above
My biggest focus are the matchups in this guide. Knowing the matchup and how to play it is by the most important thing you need to know to climb.
If you want to climb, keep it simple. You can overthink Teemo a LOT, so even if the build isnt optimal in every scenario, it will be good and help you to focus on other parts of your gameplay. I recommend a single build, because then you don't waste your time/mental capacity on your build and you learn to know just how strong you are and what your limits are
To become a good player, you will need to learn auto spacing, wave management, jungle tracking and a lot of other skills. These are basic laning skills, but will be learned as you gain experience. I will just give you matchup specific advice, but if you are struggeling, its very likely that your fundamentals are weak and that you should look into micro/macro related guides.

Teemo specific Advice
Advice #1: Track the enemy jungler and ward accordingly
You WILL get ganked if you push so learn where the jungler starts, where he is on the minimap and where he could go. If you don't ward correctly and play waves accordingly it's very likely that you die. As Teemo you are a pressure soaker, so if you don't get the enemy jungle top and make your botlane win, you are doing something wrong.
Advice #2: Be alpha
From experience I can say that the movement of a lot of lower elo players is terrible, you will get a ridiculous amount of harass off, allowing you to win matchups you should have no business winning. Against a lot of champs with a few defensive items early and lvl 6+ Ignite you will win their all in. So stand your ground, fight them and throw your shrooms into the wave when the enemy engages to force them to eat dmg. I would always go for fights when learning Teemo, because else you don't learn your limits and you cant improve as a player. Teemo is a champ that only exists to deal damage! So deal as much damage as you can!
Advice #3: Push - and get the enemy jungle
In low elo after killing the tier 1 tower you should control the enemy jungle with shrooms and clear his camps. The combined xp+gold lead will often solowin you the game. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE just how much gold and xp you get over the enemy and how hard you get ahead. I go into this a lot in my coaching sessions but to put it very easily - push will usually result in better results than not pushing in most cases
Advice #4: Use your shrooms in choke points or throw them into waves
People take insane damage running through your Noxious Trap in the jungle. Often times during chases a random shroom can mean a kill or an escape. Choke points mean that the enemy cant easily randomly dodge your shroom, as he could in lane for example. When the enemy is pushing, you can often just throw a shroom into the wave and they all take ridiculous amounts of damage, often stopping a push. WIth a level 1 ult it is usually better to shroom off gank paths or to push waves (1 shroom + 1 auto-attack kills backline, 1 lvl 2 shroom + Liandry's Torment one shots backline)
Protip: At baron nashor fights you can bounce your shrooms to get shrooms in the pit even if your original range isn't enough.
Advice #5: Use this one trick to win any game, no matter how lost
Okay this is literally the crux of my guide and a trick that works even in challenger. You simply push a wave, make sure the enemy has no vision on you and then place 2 shrooms in the lane. You then go into stealth and wait for a target. With Liandry's Torment, lvl 11 Noxious Trapand Ignite you can oneshot basically any squishy target. I have won countless games due to 1k shutdowns on aphelios, picks that give us baron or picks that force a teamfight to win us the game. With this super simple trick you can actually win so many games its sort of stupid.
Advice #6: Have fun
I would not have gotten to this point if I didn't love this game. If you don't think you will get enjoyment out of Teemo, don't play him. I'm not going to get out the "its only a game" argument, however it is true that you will only climb and improve your gameplay if your mental is in the right place
