Ability Explanation

Yunara's Passive: Vow of the First Lands


Yunara's critical strikes deal an additional 10% (+10% per 100 ability power) bonus magic damage.
  • The higher the critical chance, the more Yunara's passive is applied.
  • You acquire critical chance by building items such as Yun Tal Wildarrows and Infinity Edge.
  • This means the longer the game goes on, the stronger Yunara becomes.


Yunara's Q: Cultivation of Spirit


Passive: Yunara deal 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 (+10% of ability power) magic damage on-hit and attacking grants 1 Unleash (2 Unleash for champions).

Active: Yunara consumes 8 Unleash and for 5 seconds gains 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65% attack speed and deals an additional 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 (+10% of ability power) magic damage on-hit. During this time, her attacks spread to nearby enemies dealing them 30% AD physical damage.

Transcendent State: This ability is instantly activated for 15 seconds.
  • Autos to stack Q : 8 autos = active, but champion hits count double (2 stacks each).
  • Use Q as an auto-reset once it’s ready, in order to maximize DPS windows.
  • R auto-activates Q , even if you didn’t fully stack it.
  • Bonus: R itself can act as an auto-reset, if Q isn’t already active.


Yunara's W: Arc of Judgment


Yunara lets rip a prayer bead that deals 5 / 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 (+50% of ability power) (+0.85 per attack damage) magic damage and slows by 99% decaying over 1.5 seconds. It deals an additional 1.25 / 5 / 8.75 / 12.5 / 16.25 (+6.25% of ability power) (+0.1 per attack damage) magic damage per second.

Transcendent State: Arc of Ruin


Yunara fires a laser that deals 50 / 150 / 250 (+100% of ability power) (+1.75 per attack damage) magic damage (depending on Transcend One's Self's Rank) and slows by 99% decaying over 1 second.


  • Use W to clear waves, poke, or set up slows in trades.
  • Great to layer after CC — the slow sticks to targets.
  • If you cast W before R , It refreshes the cooldown of RW to 2s.
  • The same concept applies at the end of R : cast RW before R ends for a quick CD reduction on W .
  • At full build in late game, W almost clears a minion wave by itself, leaving you to auto a cannon once or twice.
  • Combo example: W → R → AA → AA → RW again after 2s.


Yunara's E: Kanmei's Steps


Yunara gains 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70% bonus movement speed that decays over 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 seconds and is 50% more effective when moving toward an enemy champion.

Transcendent State: Untouchable Shadow


Yunara dashes in a direction.


  • Increases move speed — gaining bonus movement speed if running towards an enemy champion.
  • Grants ghosting, which prevents creep block.
  • Cast E before R for bonus move speed, then R resets RE so you get to use an instant dash.
  • You only get 2 dashes with RE during R , so make them count!
  • Combo example: E → R → RE → full chase/dodge setup.


Yunara's R: Transcend One's Self


Yunara enters a Transcendent State for 15 seconds upgrading her basic abilities for the duration. Arc of Judgment is upgraded into Arc of Ruin and Kanmei's Steps is upgraded into Untouchable Shadow. These abilties scale with Transcend One's Self's rank.
  • Use R to either extend pressure or shift the fight — based on what you need.
  • Max damage: Let Q run out, then R to instantly re-activate and restart your rotation.
  • Repositioning: Use E → R → RE to get both movement speed and a dash.
  • Utility: Cast W , then R — you’ll get RW in 2s for consistent slows.
  • The most mechanically demanding combo you can do in 4 successive frames is E → R → RE → RW .
Reference Points
Yunara has been released very recently, so I think her gameplay patterns will be optimized, but I think this is a solid foundation to start with.

Laning Phase

  • Plan your lane based on matchup. If you have a ranged support, try to play for push against another ranged support. If it's against a melee support, you can choose to slowpush and avoid being under threat from the enemy laners. If you have a melee support, keep the wave on your side so you can run down the enemy laners once they're caught by CC from your support. This also helps setting up ganks for your Jungler.
  • Don't hit minions too much, just enough to keep your Cultivation of Spirit stacks, so should a fight happen, you can use AA - Q and be very strong in that fight.
  • Be cautious with your Arc of Judgment usage, as it spends a lot of mana. However, if there's no obstacles in front of you, the projectile speed is fast enough to catch people off guard if you want to go for a trade.
  • When the enemy's big cooldowns are back up, such as a Bone Skewer or Light Binding, be ready to use Kanmei's Steps to increase your movement speed and be able to dodge their skillshots.
  • If you're playing against a high threat lane such as Kai'Sa with Nautilus, consider using your ultimate as access to your dash so you can reposition. Don't be afraid to dash sideaways and move forward because your Cultivation of Spirit is active, and you will deal a ton of damage, specially if ahead.


Mid game

  • You can use Arc of Judgment on the wave and auto it to clear it faster, giving you prio to move around the map.
  • Kanmei's Steps has a very short cooldown, you should use it often to move from point A to point B on the map.
  • You should try to play fights front to back if possible. If you're ahead, you can try to bait out the enemy team to engage and use R into Untouchable Shadow to move out of danger and start a winning fight.
  • However, if your team wants to dive in, you can use Transcend One's Self and just play out the fight with your melee champions in the team doing the engage. If there's also an isolated immobile carry in the enemy such as Jhin using Curtain Call, you can also use Untouchable Shadow and win melee range if you're ahead. There's a lot of creativity with which you can approach teamfighting!

This guide is still a work in progress, as there's a lot of data to look at when Yunara drops! I'll try to add some more dedicated categories such as pros/cons, synergies/counters in draft, matchups, laning phase, mid game, late game, and go more in depth on runes, summoner spells and itemization.
