What do you think about my variation of poke varus:
tear start
Ghostblade,ionian boots, edge of night/serpant's fang, manamune, shurylda, shadowflame

i know it's very similar to your lethality build but i want to know your thoughts on adding one ap item

Also i wanna try tanky varus with like heartsteel,manamune/essence reaver,jaksho,botrk/wild arrows,terminus/zeal item

or heartateel, nashor, riftmaker, jaksho, deadm man's plate

lethality/tank probably won't work but bruiser items will lel

Hey buddy, after a few years of playing League, I finally realized that I love ranged champions, but I hate playing ADC (I wonder why XD). So, I started one-tricking Kayle, but I was looking for an alternative pick in the top lane. I was seriously considering Varus—I had already played him top back when he was built tank, but is he still viable there now?

I would say You can make every champ work with the right skill and playstyle. But ye i played Varus top a few times (have to admit it was low elo) and it was fun. I went some weird build like with Grasp as Rune and Heartsteel first item xD but it was fun. The only problem on toplane is, that basically every toplaner is building Plated Steel boots and have so much crowd control.
Vayne top is an all time classic and works really well and would be my personal first choice on top lane. But Varus, Kaisa and even Caitlyn are playable but You have to stay calm if You get one hit by a 4k live Garen Q+R haha.
