A Guide To Urgot Itemization Made By An Unranked Player!
Mundo goes were he pleases.
That means you either can't flip him with your E, or you CAN'T PULL HIM with you R. Grievous wounds and black cleaver as first item. Also, his cleaver deals a stupid amount of damage :/
Malphite
Unfun to play against, since his Q is point and click and he can just spam that in the laning phase, and also he has a metric ****-ton of armor, and his passive shield is annoying.
Getting black cleaver and merc treads first is a pretty good idea.
Mordekaiser
Dodge his E, and if you can't, E him instead and run away if you can't kill him or win the fight.
Antiheal is a good option since everysingle Mordekaiser will eventually take Riftmaker.
Hitting your E on him is pretty important.
He's almost like AP sett now that i Think about it...
Neeko
I dont like laning against Neeko at all.
Try to dodge her E, and try to stay away from your minions since if her E hits something, it goes faster and the Root lasts longer.
This is one of those matchups that no matter how well you know how to play Urgot, you'll still have a bad time since all she nneds to do is just hit her E...
This mathcup is very opressive in my opinion.
Quinn
I would play it safe on this one, since if you get close to her, she can just E away. When she is missing in lane after level 6, i means she's going to rotate so ping the "?" on your lane as hard as you can.
You should build armor, in this matchup. Plated steelcaps is necessary.
Sometimes I walk up to the Quinn when in short sighted since they'll usually walk up to you to auto you a few times, and not expect you to E her.
Man, do i want to shoot myself in the head when i see her in champ select (:
Rengar
STAY THE **** AWAY FROM THOSE BUSHES.
Sett
Big Shield, big damage, who does't hate playing against him?
Make sure to take short trades.
Also, watch where your minions are, because of his E.
Get Black cleaver as first Item so you can actually deal damage to him.
You can try to flip him when he uses his W, but i suck at the game so I tend to mess up the timing...
Tahm Kench
goodluck :)
Tryndamere
Who doesn't hate playing against this champ?
He can deal alot of damage and still be "tanky" because of his ult.
You can try to kill him before level 6, your gonna want to stay away from him after that.
Plated steelcaps and Grievous wounds is needed here.
Also, try to hold on to your R until his Ult wears off
Urgot
Playing blind pick was a mistake...
Vayne
Vayne.
Camille
Try to bait out her E then trade against her. Be careful trading with her because her 2nd Q can do quite a lot of damage.
A good camille player will try to dodge your R with her ultimate, wich makes her untargetable for a short moment.
Sometimes Camille can get pretty aggressive and try to fight you when she lands her W, so watch out for that.
Plated steelcaps is a good idea.
Darius
Try not to fight him until level 9, and don't ight him for too long since his ult damage on 5 stacks is stupid :/.
(blood thirster COULD be a secret counter here, but that depends on you ;)
Fiora
Can either be really easy to play against, or you go 0/5 by level 6 ;-;
Don't let her proc vitals for free, and try not to E her before she uses her W.
Plated Steelcaps, Antiheals are is a good idea here.
His barrel and Q deal alot of damage, and he can free himself from your pull by eating oranges.
Plated Steelcaps and grievous wounds is recomended here.
Gnar
Ranged top laner, just like you, but with more range. Is pretty annoying.
On his Mega Gnar form, you wont be able to move if he hits his full combo on you.
Plated Steelcaps and Stridebraker as first Item is a good idea here.
Gwen
I've only played against this champ a few times, and it either goes very well, or she's 2 levels ahead of evrybody lol.
Kinda annoying having in mind that she can make herself
UNTARGETABLE, but she has pretty much no CC, so you can run away from her pretty easily.
Antiheal can be good here, since she has omnivamp.
She's also squishy in before rift maker, so you can kill her pretty easilly.
Illaoi
Illaoi can do some magical things like going 2/5 and still being able to killl you and your jungler.
Kill the tentacles and dodge her E.
Irelia
If the Irelia's tryharding you won't be able to play the game, and be careful when she has her passive stacked.
You can E out of her ult, and dont try to E her when she can still dash around.
Jax
His bonks hurt quite alot, and watch out when he uses his W.
You can E him when he's using his W, since Im pretty sure your stun last longer than his W's stun
Plated steelcaps is a good idea here.
Ornn
He is SO TANKY AND HAS SO MUCH CC.
Mercury treads and black cleaver as First items are recomended.
Poppy
Hard to kill in general, don't use her E when she uses her anti-dash thingy.
Black cleaver is a good option here.
Rammus
Ok...
Get black cleaver here, and you sould be fine.
Have in mind you can kill yourself pretty fast with your W if he Taunts you
I would go mercury treads and also black cleaver as a first Item.
Riven
It depends if the riven player is good or not.
Try to E her Before she stuns you.
Plated steelcaps is a good option here.
Teemo
Oracle lens and lots and lots of control wards. Grab Doran's shield as starting items.
Mercury Treads and control wards are a must-buy in this matchup.
E+flash and you should be able to kill him.
Dont try to proc your passive while blinded. That's very stupid. Also try to walk up to him when you get blinded by the Q, since just like quinn, teemo will walk up you you to do his Q+AA poke combo.
Get stridebracker and he's dead
Volibear
Try to dodge his W even tho it deals no damage unless he goes AP. And try to trade away from his W area, since it gives him a shield if it hits him.
You should get plated steelcaps and grievous wounds.
Wukong
Monke Spin.
Yasuo
Try to stay away from your minions because he can do 50 dashes.
Plated Steelcaps and an Thornmail is a good idea here.
His wind wall can block both the projectile AND THE CHAINS OF YOUR ULTIMATE.
This could be a very easy matchup, depending on how good the yasuo is.
Yone
I dont like laning against yone.
His E lets him towerdive you without any consequences. It also allows him to FREE HIMSELF FROM YOUR ULTIMATE.
He also doesn't have any mana, so he can hit you with his W as much as he wants.
Plated Steelcaps and Thornmail is a good idea here.
Basically a Yasuo, but he can just peace out whenever he feels like he's losing a fight against you...
Aatrox
His Q's are actually pretty easy to dodge. You can dash out of his W if you think it's necessary.
Grievous wounds and plated steelcaps are recomended here
Akali
She can poke you constantly with her Q so just keep a small distance and so she cant hit you with those Q's.
If if she E's you and dashes to you, E her back and put your passive to good use.
You can go Mercury treads in this matchup.
She's pretty slippery, so stridebreaker is pretty good here.
And, of course, depending on the player, Akali can either be a walk in the park, or an absolute nightmare to play against...
Blitzcrank
Same as amumu, he shouldn't be able to kill you. If he tries to hook, you, you could get ganked.
He could go AP and AD, so what you build really depends on which one of the 2 damages he goes.
Also, who the heck plays this guy top?
Cassiopeia
Mercury treads is needed here. I'm not sure about this one since i only played against a Cass top like once, and that player sucked.
Obviously, try to doge her Q tho.
Cho'Gath
Doge his Q and wait for him to use his W then E him before level 9.
If he goes AP, he's gonna have alot of HP, but no armor so he can be killed easily.
But if he goes full tank tho, black cleaver is recomended here.
Katarina
E-W-Q-R after first item and she should be dead.
If the katarina is skilled, she could out play you pretty hard.
Kayle
Dont let her get to late game and you should be fine. try to finish the game before she reaches lvl 16.
Plated steelcaps and magic resist items can be good here.
Game is pretty much lost if she reaches full build tho...
Nasus
Same as kayle, dont let him scale late game, or else he's gonna bonk you VERY VERY HARD.
Plated Steelcaps and anti-heals is recomended here
Pantheon
Let him Jump at you, then E him behind since by then he should have used his shield move.
He would usually go lethality, making him very squishy.
Be sure to ping your lane if he has ult and he is missing in lane.
Renekton
Be careful early game and then get his *** in the mid game-late game.
Grievous Wounds and Plated Steelcaps are needed here.
Shen
I dont have much to say about this one, dodge his E, careful when he uses his Q, and try not to trade in his W area.
You should get Black cleaver here as a first item in my opinion.
Sion
Watch the bushes in early game, and his E can be annoying.
Singed
I honestly don't know how to deal with this guy very well, since I haven't laned against him since season 10. but you should probably get a ravenous hydra for waveclear and lane sustain.
And of course, don't chase him.
like NEVER.
NEVER EVER CHASE HIM.
Singed players scare me, but i also play singed...
Sylas
His healing can get really stupid. But if he E's you, you can E him back since your stun duration on E is longer than his. Be careful when he steals your ult.
Grievous wounds is a really good option here. Mercury treads is a good option.
Zyra
Heimerdinger, but more annoying.
At least for me...
Amumu
He shouldn't be able to kill you. Usually if he engages, it means you'll get ganked.
He can get pretty tanky, and black cleaver will most likely be wanted here
Heimerdinger
You can't kill him but he shouldn't be able to kill you unless he hits you with alot of abilities.
Merc treads, and maybe some lane sustain can be good here.
Viego
Dodge his E and you'll be fine.
Have in mind if he's in the middle of channeling his ultimate, you cant pull him with your ult.
Yorick
After lvl 9 this matchup should be a piece of cake. But he can still push the wave VERY hard tho.
Try to kill his Ult any chance you get. Since alot of his damage comes from his zombies and his Ult.
Plated steelcaps is needed here.
Zed
He really shouldn't be able to kill you.
just build plated steelcaps.
He's also very squishy, so you should kill him very easily.
A Guide To Urgot Itemization Made By An Unranked Player!
By
Pros & Cons
PROS:
-S H O T G U N K N E E S
-Is pretty good at dueling
-Scales very well
-Is a "RANGED" toplaner
Cons:
-Low mobility
-Weak Early game
-Ult can be hard to land
-Can get kited pretty hard
-Large Hit box :/
Tier 3 Item Notes (They where too long...)
-Black Cleaver gives CDR, Damage, HP, and Armor Penetration, just the things that Urgot really likes.
-The Hydras, are pretty good for Urgot because of his W, Just one gives more damage, lifesteal and CDR, but doesn't offer you tankiness, and titanic gives you AD, HP, but no lifesteal and CDR.
-Anathema's Chains The Damage reduction doesn't work against true damage, so now I only take it against splitpushers...
-Antiheals are kinda obvious why.
-Guardian angel is for when you ABSOULUTELY need to carry.
-Spirit Visage is for when you have alot of healing FROM ITEMS.
-Maw of Malmortius is pretty good since it offers a shield, magic resistance and decent damage, making it good against full AP team-comps or something like that.
-Sterak's Gage is a good late game Item, and the low-health shield effect is nice for teamfights.
-Gargoyle Stoneplate can give a REALLY big Shield, but only in the late game, since the shield scales with HP
-BoRK gives damage and lifesteal, pretty good stats for Urgot, and also the 3 hit passive is also pretty good for him.
-Death's Dance gives you quite alot of dueling potencial, and is also really good against full AD team-comps.
-Serylda's is a fun Item, but doesn't offer anymore than the Slow and the AD and armor Penetration, wich is why I almost never build it.
-Warmog's Armor can replace Gargoyle Stoneplate in the tanky build if you want.
-Hullbreaker gives pretty good stats, and the Item Passive is really good for splitpushing, I usually consider taking this when Im ahead. Also, sell this Item late game since you'll be teamfighting alot.
-Now, Bloodthirster is a special one, since the lifesteal, damage and the "overheal" Shield it gives you is pretty good on Urgot, you just have to "W tap" since the item now gives crit chance.
-Wit's End on hit passive and the movespeed you get while in combat with it is pretty good, and can be built when dealing with AP characters. Also, the 40% attack speed can help you W tap.
-Silvermere Dawn is something I only use against Mordekaiser every 500 years and just sell it late game.
Little Tips and Tricks for Urgot!
The most important and the ONLY important combo that you can do with urgot.
BEHOLD.
THE E+FLASH.
Basically you just press E and then flash immediately after you pressed E.
There's also this thing you can do, that I would like to call ,W tapping, this is something that helps increase your single target DPS.
Basically what you do is perform 3 attacks with your W, turn it off, autoattack once, and then turn W on right at the moment the Autoattack Projectile comes out.
Rinse and repeat, and you're W tapping.
This is a little bit easier than you think it its.
That's pretty much it, playing Urgot isn't really hard, just make sure your W key doesn't break :P
Things I might, JUST MIGHT change or add, to this guide
-Try to add more characters to the "threats" list
-Heck, maybe even add characters to the "synergies" list :v
-Fix some typos, or maybe not (:
-Add unnecessary things to this list
-Make a Singed guide?
Abilities, and how i use them!
DONT SPAM Q ON URGOT! You are gonna run out of mana and poking with autottacks is better anyway. Most of the time i'll be using this ability for the slow, or to kill a minion thats out of range.
As for his W, unless you have it maxed out, dont use it to farm. Just use your autoattacks instead, and save it in case you need it for an actual fight.
His E can be used to bait ppl who are stupid anough to towerdive you, and is your main engage tool. It does have some "buffer" animations or something like that, wich is basically his dash going off while mid air or CC'd.
I feel like theres more and more ways to negate Urgot's R, but thats just because I play against Yone way too much. Make sure to get near as many enemies as possible due to the AoE Fear that triggers whenever you send the poor soul that got caught in your R to the shadow realm.
Welp, Im now Unranked...
Should I play ranked just to get to bronze and stay there forever...? Guess you'll never find out :P You made it all the way here... Well, thank you for reading this guide, and if it helped you, then that's great! If it didn't, well, you can talk **** about me in the comment section, or, be a better person and give me suggestions on how to make the guide better!
