Hi, I am redsoro from the PH Server, currently Silver I Division. Even if I have a "low rank" I think I have a more profound understanding of Aurelion Sol than someone who doesn't play him so I hope to impart my knowledge even if its just the basics. I will slowly improve though and maybe somehow update my guide on a perspective of a high elo player.

Aurelion Sol is one of my favorite champions due to his theme (almighty space dragon) and unique playstyle. I also watch gameplays of pro players playing this champ. So this guide is based solely on a Silver Players perspective along with the analysis on the gameplays of pro players. I hope you can at least be introduced to playing Aurelion Sol and be able to know the basics of the champ.

SORCERY

PHASE RUSH
Best Keystone for Asol in the Sorcery tree. Lets you position faster.

MANAFLOW BAND
Helps you maintain your mana.

CELERITY
The movement speed helps Asol manoeuvre his stars.

WATERWALKING
The movement speed it gives in river enhances Asol's already godlike roaming. Also, can sometimes let you get away from chasing enemies.

INSPIRATION

MINION DEMATERIALIZER
Increases your damage to minions making your waveclear faster.

PERFECT TIMING
If you plan to get zhonyas, you can opt to this rune instead of minion dematerializer.

TIME WARP TONIC
Synergizes well with Asol's corrupting potion start.

STARTING ITEM

CORRUPTING POTION
Helps in early sustain (gives health and mana back) and trades (Touch of Corruption) and synergises with the rune TIME WARP TONIC making its duration longer.

CORE ITEMS

ROD OF AGES
Gives Asol survivability and sustain through the health stats and eternity passive. Stats stack up for your late game.

RYLAIS
You can easily proc the slow passive with your stars letting you doom an opponent slowed by it and a slowed opponent is easy for a Rylais Asol to kite around.

LUXURY ITEMS

LIANDRYS
Strong for a sustained damage mage such as Asol since your dmg increases from 2% to 10% the longer you stay in combat. Get it after Rylais since it will have increased dmg when targets are ccd.

RABADONS DEATHCAP
Ap multiplier got buffed from the ap items pass. Take it as 5th or 6th item.

VOID STAFF
Get this once enemies start stacking magic resist.

OTHERS

ABYSSAL MASK
I used to rush this first instead of RoA when there is a high magic damage threat because the increased magic damage aura range reaches the outer radius (the W distance) of the stars despite this item having only defensive stats. However, now they nerfed the range of the aura passive so I don't think its worth it to get abyssal mask on aurelion if you want mr.

First shove the whole first wave using your W. Position yourself near the top or bottom bush and position yourself so you can hit all the minions with your passive. Then once you get level 2 first by killing the first minion of the 2nd wave look to trade with your opponent with your advantage in spells (Don't forget to activate your corrupting potion for its "Touch of Corruption" passive). Then proceed to keep shoving until you get your E. This time you can either back and get your darkseal, boots or catalyst or you can roam top or bot.

In clashes you can contribute a lot since you have aoe, cc, and sustained damage. It is important to position yourself in the middle of the ad carry and your frontline. If the game is even and you don't have a frontline it will be a bit harder to have team fights since they can get to you quite easily.

In clashes just turn on your W and move around to hit your stars never stopping to auto-attack because it will just disrupt your positioning for hitting your stars. Save your ult for the diver or assasin that can jump your backline or if theres an opportunity to hit 3 or more enemies. The longer the clash goes the stronger you become especially if you already have Rylais and Liandrys.

Aurelion Sol is one of the best roaming mid laners. He can roam to top or bot in levels 3 or 4 because of his E unlike some roaming mid laners who need their level 6 to roam. His item build also makes him pretty tanky (RoA, Liandrys) since he needs to be closer in the fight as a battle mage. he excels in extended fights and his unusual playstyle makes enemies clueless on facing him. However, the player needs to know his unique playstyle to be successful.
