yo, did you tried coockies and time warp tonic? im not sure which one is better: tonic or ravenous hunter.
and i was playing with triumph long and just taking blue if i wanted to stay longer on split but now im playing with precense of mind and my gameplay feels better now becouse i trust healling without triumph
sametimes i play manamune (and max Q E W)if enemy on line let me scale like this and i dont need to be as tanky, do you think i should stop it?

What makes sudden impact better than taste of blood? Also how would you teamfight with no engage sup or someone on ur team?

you can play on side and wait for enemies engage in you

Just one tip I would suggest to add as a fellow Illaoi player, you can cast your ult and then flash for better positioning. Very situational but extremely useful and devastating if done right.

Hey man, this is absolutely great and detailed guide :)
I have one ...complex question :D If I decided to try Illaoi on bot, as tanky support.. will she be viable? And what runes would you try..Would proc from tentacles or ..or would be still best one?

Don't judge me :D I love playing unusual champions in support role ..to have fun..to mess with enemy players minds and also to change whole game routine :)

You still have a lot of references to Klepto in this guide. Ctrl+F "klepto" and remove them since the rune's gone now.

Not really sure why they did that change, I haven't tried AP and won't, maybe hextech gunblade could a be a fun around item with her in normals now? lol.

Great guide! A few quick comparison questions for you.
Runes
Sudden Impact vs Taste of Blood
-Do you always suggest going Sudden Impact? Are there any times such as in hard lane matchups or when not against a lot of armor heavy tanks, where you suggest taking Taste of Blood instead? How do you compare these two in your opinion.

Time Warp Tonic vs Cosmic Insight
-While TWT gives some nice sustain, what's your opinion on Cosmic Insight's +5% CDR? In mid-late game do you believe the additional +5% CDR applied to Illaoi's 'W' gives her even more dmg and thus life steal by simply spamming the w? Or perhaps the +5% on her 'w' isn't enough to make a difference?

Mechanics
After using your ultimate, assuming the enemy positioning is correct for it, is it best to simply spam 'W' when you have tentacles that are likely to hit rather than hitting 'W'->'Q'->'W'? I've noticed if i switch to a Q immediately after my W, my W CD is back before my Q execution finished. If i have more than 1 tentacle where my W would be doing more damage, should I just simply spam 'W' while given the chance they'll land?

As far as runes go taste of blood is fine if you want more sustain this would be good for matchups you struggle with most likely, personally I always go sudden impact.

Cosmic insight is viable for sure, it's always a hard decision for me but I think it's for sure viable as well.

For mechanics you want to auto attack and W right after, you can get a Q inbetween while your W is on cooldown yeah, you should be able to do it in between the W's unless you're running spear of shojin then you can just W spam (which btw this item also seems viable but i haven't tested it a whole lot yet)

Hello Goliath,
I got a question for you about . In the past, before her small rework in 9.13, you could counterplay by attacking to lower the spirit duration. Now they removed the mechanic, what would be the best way to counter the ability besides simply dodging it? As a champion with a weaker early game, now there is almost no reason anymore to engage then as she will just outdamage you with her AoE to both you and your spirit. And if she kills the spirit in the proces, you become a vessel anyways. Is it now better to just run as the chance you'll become a vessel anyways is big enough or are there better ways to deal with it?

Hey Silverman,
Yeah it's honestly a pretty decent buff to Illaoi that helps her in a lot of matchups now that had dots like singed and rumble especially, They did make it to where the spirit lasts 3 seconds shorter I believe and also the vessel lasts shorter too which means sometimes you can just walk out of the range after she hits E and just make sure you dodge tentacle slaps for the next 10 seconds which is pretty easy, you can also sometimes trade with her when she hits E's but you have to be careful and try to angle yourself where you and your spirit aren't getting hit at the same time. But yeah your best bet is to simply dodge it or play behind your minion wave as much as you can sadly, also you can try to pick ranged champs to counter her if they blind pick Illaoi.

What about team comps ?
Against what team comps shines ?
Against what comps she sucks ?
Is she good against melees ( at least 3 melee champs )
Is she bad against comps ?
What about poke ones ?
I've heard that she counters Engaging comps so hard that even she had some arrives even in pro plays..

Some explanation on what enemy champs shall i pick her

Is Illaoi viable in higher devisions > Plat and Diamond ?
Everyone tells me that she struggles super hard in higher devisions and it might be right.
I am 220k experienced Illaoi and i still struggle in this current elo with her...

People most of the time Bully me at the laning phase as well as countering me at teamfights because obviusly they know my cons and abuse it very well.
Some explanation on how to play Illaoi in higher devisions ??

I think she is a champion that struggles the higher you get mainly because she heavily relies on hitting E's and people getting better at playing around that and dodging.

With that being said she is for sure viable in plat and even diamond as well, I've played against many people even in low-mid diamond that don't know how to play against her whatsoever

You should be winning most laning phases atleast against meele champs so that's weird, if you're struggling in teamfights I recommend to just go full splitpush mode or try to hit your E's before teamfights happen.
