Hello friends! I Am Genyx(Hehehe), I am a gold V currently top lane main. For some background information about me, I started playing in season 5 and got placed in Bronze V after my provisionals after playing Kayle Sona bot lane with my friend... I then began to climb to Gold V after several months of climbing the ladder! I have mained so many top laners, its hard to list them all. I have played heavily: Riven,Rengar,Kennen,Yasuo. But all of these champions to me havent been as fun and interesting as the amazing pony, and hopefully you feel the same way!

Hecarim is a unique top laner in the sense of the more you get fed in lane, the more damage items you can build (Im not saying other top laners cant do this, but for hecarim it is better). If your'e put in a situation where you get first blood on the enemy top laner, I would immediately get enough for defensive boots(Mercury Treads or Ninja Tabi). The reason I wouldn't rush homeguards(Nike's) is because its solo queue, your whole objective is to snowball out of control and hard carry the game. So for that reason instead of getting 475 boot enchant to begin with, I would start building my trinity-force or black cleaver(Yes, I said black cleaver). Now I would like to tell you the 3 types of Hecarim builds. There is the "even build", the "behind build", and the "Im ****ing killing everything in 2 Qs build" The "Even build" is tri force, Frozen Heart, Spirit Visage, Mercury Treads, Randuins, and Banshees/Guardian. The "behind build" is skipping trinity force and going into full tank immediately. And the "Im ****ing killing everything in 2 Qs build" is Black CLeaver, Iceborn Gauntlet, Yomuus Ghostblade, Frozen Heart, Mercury Treads, and Bloodthirster/Maw of Maltormus. All of these builds are viable if used in the right senerio.

This is the skill sequence I will take if I am laning against something that will sit there and auto attack me for the majority of our fights(Malphite, Darius, Nasus, Shen, etc...) This always for A LOT of healing from your W and for you to be able to sustain through these long sparkless fights/trades

This is your basic speed up pony skill sequence for being a bully and having speed while doing it!

Pros:
You can build in a varity of ways(Damage, tank, bruiser, AYEEEEPIIII)
You have easy lockdown on the adc/marksman/attack damage carry
You work in a lot of team compositions
You are a very good solo queue pick!
YOU ARE A ****ING PONY

Cons:
Can be kited fairly easily after using your E and ultimate
Can be a disaster if you dont know how to ambush a team
You can hurt yourself by not going smite in some situations

Masteries can vary for hecarim. If you are in solo queue and your team does not have a tank(Which is quite often) Then 9/21 will help you with diving into their whole team and let your squishies kill them all while you are 5 man tanking. Although, in the majority of my games 21/9 is my prefferance since it always me to be a heavy bully in lane and 2 shot the backline in dragon fights, etc...

For Runes, you always want to go Armor Seals, MR Glyphs, Armor Penetration Marks, and Movement Speed/Attack Damage Quints depending on if you dont want to spend the 2k IP to obtain the MS Quints

As Hecarim, you are one of the very few top laners where smite is viable. If you are the only tank on your team, take it. Doesnt matter what your against if your team doesnt have a tank, take it. There are matchups where I will take(Check matchup section) it even if my team has tanks already, but it is definately good on Hecarim in a lot of situations!

Ok. Look at your ultimate. ok? Look at their ATTACK. DAMAGE. CARRY. ok? He doesnt have a randuins omen. ok? He doesnt have a frozen heart. ok? He doesnt have a thornmail. OKAY??? Now. Press R and look at him. Is he on your screen anymore? if so you need to refer back to the build section.
