Introduction

Centuries ago, there lived a race of creatures as ferocious as they were wise. The brackern were unusual beings blessed with the earth's primal magic, embodied in the form of crystals. Their kind knew of an arcane ritual to bind their life's essencehttp://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/edit-build?edit=113091# to a crystal, communing with the magic embedded in it. With this power, the brackern thrived in the Odyn Valley, protecting both creatures and crystals alike. Despite attacks from those looking to claim the primal magic, it seemed that nothing could get past the brackern's defenses. Nothing, that is, until the devastation of a Rune War.
A vicious battle was fought near the Odyn Valley and the unleashed chaotic magic poisoned the crystals. The brackern began to grow sick and die, and no amount of defensive magic could reverse the effects. To avoid extinction, their only course was to hibernate underground until the wars stopped. The strongest, most intelligent brackern hibernated closer to the surface to awaken first and assess the world's condition for the return of their race. The recent mining operations and violent escalation in Kalamanda were enough to awaken the first of these vanguards. When Skarner burst to the surface, he lashed out in anger and confusion. Reason eventually won out over his anger when he realized that the agents of the League who found him were simply functionaries. Skarner was invited to the Institute of War to share the brackern's story. In return, the summoners told him about the history that his kind had slept through. Much had been done to curb the unchecked use of magic since the Rune Wars, but it was obvious that the world was not yet safe for his kind to reawaken. For now, however, there is a place where Skarner can use his power to change the world into one to which his kind could eventually return: the League of Legends.
''The humans have not yet learned to control their magic - what once was Kalamanda is now a crystal scar on the history of this world.'' – Skarner

Greater Quintessence of Replenishment
I get three Greater Quintessences of Replenishment because early game,
Skarner is very mana hungry.
Greater Mark of Attack Speed
I get nine Greater Marks of Alacrity because along with
Shattered Earth's effects,
Skarner's auto attacks do great damage, and this way you can get more of them off.
Greater Glyph of Mana
I get nine Greater Glyphs of Intellect to not only give
Skarner more mana but also compliment
Manamune.
Greater Seal of Health
I get nine Greater Seals of Fortitude to give
Skarner more health early on in the game.

For my Summoner Spells, I use
Ignite and
Flash, although
Exhaust is also very useful.
Flash is used to quickly get away from any amount of enemies. Quickly using
Seismic Bastion after
Flash will increase your chances of getting away by greatly increasing your movement speed. For my seconds summoner spell spot, it is a toss-up between
Ignite and
Exhaust.
Ignite is useful when an opponent is dependent on healing to stay alive, or for finishing an enemy champion off so you do not have to tower dive them.
Exhaust is a useful also, for running and for pursuing a champion, but is not completely necessary for
Skarner because he has
Seismic Bastion to run away faster and
Shattered Earth to slow.

I level
Ixtal's Impact (E) first because it gives a useful heal, and very good damage that can affect more than one person. I then get
Shattered Earth because it works very well with Fracture. If you see a crowd of minions, it is very easy to fracture them all, then simply move to the middle, use
Shattered Earth (Q), and watch your health go up. The third skill to get is
Seismic Bastion (W). After you have maxed
Ixtal's Impact, go back and forth between
Shattered Earth and
Seismic Bastion.

Because
Skarner runs out of mana very quickly early game, start with a
Meki Pendant and one of each potion. Get a
Tear of the Goddess as soon as possible. Get tier 1 boots for some extra movement speed, then proceed to buy
Manamune, which will give you lots of mana and some good attack damage. After buying
Manamune, you will buy Tier 2 boots, for the items list i decided on
Berserker's Greaves for the added attack speed. Next, get a
Rod of Ages to improve your ability power, and also give you health and more mana. Now you will get your Stinger, to increase attack speed and lower the cool downs of your spells.
Trinity Force is the next item to get because it benefits all parts of your hybrid build and gives more survivability. The first part of
Trinity Force that you will get is
Sheen, because you can use
Shattered Earth very often, which will proc the affect of
Sheen. After that, complete your
Nashor's Tooth, which will give you more ability power, and much better attack speed. The
Hextech Gunblade will finish up your build because it will give you some good AP and AD, and also it's active is very useful.
