Introduction
Jax play poorly, and just flat out build inefficiently. So, this is my attempt to remedy it. What people don't understand (I think), is that Jax is a Bruiser. He isn't just going to deal huge damage right out of the gate. Also, he shouldn't build like Katarina and just rush a Hextech Gunblade to nuke people down. To really deal damage and have sustain in lane (which he isn't Katarina and he relies on mana, which people neglect), he needs to take some tank items and mix in some damage with Sheen and Phage. Jungle Jax and Top Jax also build a little differently, so continue with me on your journey to learn intricacies of Jax.
