Introduction
A decent alternative for Flash/Ignite (the common ADC trend) is Flash/Heal. Since Kalista cannot cancel auto attacks, sometimes you are forced into situations you don't want to be in until late game when your attack speed is higher. It's good to note that yes you can dodge (and this saves us from many Blitzcrank yanks) but sometimes that delay lets the enemy ADC punish you a bit longer than you would like.
One of the hardest things about Kalista is finding the right support for you. Given my experience, the best pairings have been Leona (that charge/knock up/stun combo) or Sona for chained CC and damage bonus and heals, or even Yasuo (weird, right? But think about the chained ultimate...) I highly advise before the match even starts you ask your support if they are familiar with how your ultimate works, and if not, give them a quick explanation. The last thing you need is to pull your ult off to pull your support out of a bad spot, only to have them charge right back in because they didn't know what was going on.
So, most guides I have seen recommend focusing on high AD items - Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, Mercurial Scimitar, Maw, etc. I decided that while this is efficient, I wanted something a little more out of my champion.
Rend states that if using the ability kills a target the CD is refreshed. Note, this works on creeps as well.
So with my item build, I focused on getting as much attack speed as possible while still maintaining that high crit and damage focus. Yes, Caitlyn can still kill someone in 5 hits. You take 6 hits to kill someone at the end of the game, so why work your items this way? Because you get those six hits in half the time of her five, get your cool down reset, and can do it all over again. ^.^
