In this matchup it is very important to play around his lvl1 and PTA + passive. Lvl 1 if he starts swinging on top of you, your best reply is to just W out. Level 3 is when you can start trading with him and you have to avoid giving him passive + PTA procs since you will instantly lose the trade. You can achieve this by spacing his autoattack range when you land the chain on him and make sure to respond to his E-in trades defensively (W out if needed). Very cool trick vs Akshan is using your clone to block his R, so always keep that in mind!
Ahri
This matchup early game gets decided by her E blocking your W. Your counterplay to this is being patient and waiting. If she uses her charm first you can dodge it. Another way to play around it is to W in different spots and not just face first into her since she will always use her charm as a reaction to you using your W and if she does not use her E like that, then she will be too late to stop the dash and your W damage will go off and you can also W back instantly after.
Akali
Akali matchup is decided by her rune and item setup. If she disrespects you and doesnt take dshield + 2nd wind, you will mureder her 1v1 as LeBlanc. If she takes the infinite sustain setup and buys MR or HP early it becomes really hard to punish her so just dont flip ego 1v1s with her and look to kill her with your teammates since you can reveal her in her shroud with E and shes a free kill at that point for your jungler. Very important matchup to always have 1 distortion ready for safety (either W or RW). Akali is a very ult dependant champion and if you can bait her R out and use your dashes to run away, you have a timer where you are favoured in the 1v1.
Azir
Pretty easy matchup for LeBlanc. This champ is a bit strong currently and has the tank build which makes it way harder to play vs. But once this gets balanced properly, this matchup will become LB favoured again. Make sure to not overextend trades into his soldiers (especially if he plays conq) and burst trades will always be in your favor. when ganking him keep in mind that you can block his E dash if you get on top of him with your W.
Anivia
A very hard champion to punish in the laning phase unless you outrange her. Anivia is strong enough 1v1 to survive early game into LeBlanc and also has the Egg to heal if she plays around it well. After lvl6 she will just clear waves in your face 1v1. Your only counterplay at this point is your jungler. Call your jungler to come mid since anivia is immobile and will die very easily to a gank and if she respects the gank, then you get first push and have a roam timer with your jungler.
Aurelion Sol
Asol is surprisingly fine into LeBlanc 1v1 but you do have counterplay vs him. When you W into him, look to walk behind his Q so he has to turn around to trade back and the moment he turns to you then you can snap back to your W to screw his Q again. Respect his lethal range with W+Q cuz after some levels he can just run you down with W and kill you so use your dashes and CC carefully.
Cassiopeia
A big portion of the matchup is baiting out of her spells. Dodging her Q makes her do 0 damage in trades so look for burst trades after. Her W and R are also spells that you can react to just by having low ping and paying close attention to her animation and sound. Cool thing is that you can still W over her Miasma. Do not extend trades vs her at all costs, unless it is very early into the lane and you know she will run OOM before she can kill you.
Corki
Corki is a historical answer to LeBlanc and if he is strong, he always does well into her. As long as you either dodge his Q or walk away from his E lvl1, you should get prio and win the matchup early easily but once he reaches lvl6 and buys his hexdrinker, you get very few options to punish him 1v1 so call your jungler or look to impact the map with roams.
Ekko
Pretty easy matchup for LeBlanc. Only time he can conest LeBlanc is if he goes HoB and looks to E you lvl1 and cheese you. Your response to this should be starting E lvl1 and you will end up winning the trade if you hit the E and fight him in your minion wave.
Fizz
Matchup is pretty straight forward early game as long as you wait for him to use his E to CS and stay out of Q range post lvl3. If you play boneplating then you can also trade him in his Q range lvl3+, since boneplating is super good vs Fizz. At lvl6 he can oneshot you but you have your dashes to avoid his R and its a pretty easy spell to react to,
Hwei
Hwei is currently the strongest lane bully out of any mage into the game and 1v1 LeBlanc will really struggle into him early. Good thing is that hwei is really hard to play well so you will not struggle vs average hwei players. Once the Hwei is really good, its a nightmare. Your counterplay is obviously jungler and support since Hwei is very easy to kill with ganks or burn his flash.
Focus on dodging his spells rather than hitting him with W since his spells hit really hard but are all skillshots which you can dodge with movement and W.
Jayce
Jayce is a very hard champion to punish in lane and even if you do punish him in lane, you will not put him out of the game and he will always get to his items fast and do good damage. The matchup is a lot about using your W snap back to avoid his melee hammer Q damage. After some levels his shockblast becomes a very deadly poke tool so always be ready for it when he is not showing in lane to dodge it with W or hide behind minions.
Irelia
Even tho irelia does fine into LeBlanc 1v1, she cant really look to kill you since your champ is too safe. Winning 1v1 into a good irelia is very hard but for irelia to win the lane she has to play very aggressive so she is vulnerable to ganks. Make sure to call your jungler or supp mid if enemy irelia is disrespecting them. If the irelia is bad, you can also beat her 1v1 with ignite and early game setup. Similar to akali matchup, holding your W when overextended in lane is key and if the wave is on your side, you can look to trade more aggressively.
Kassadin
Kassadin is very strong in season 14 with malignance. after lvl6 LeBlanc stands no chance to beat kassadin 1v1 and she gets outscaled by him hard. Your goal is to create advantages for yourself by freezing and ganking him on the bounce or to just push him in and look to kill his teammmates. After lvl6 you can only kill him with teammates so TELL your jungler to come kill kassadin since he has to ult in to trade or else he will outscale you into oblivion. You can play AD LeBlanc into kassadin aswell which will do way better in lane but still get outscaled.
Katarina
Only thing to keep in mind in this matchup is her lvl2/3 all in with conq so make sure to not waste spells. As long as she does not get random kills from bad roams, her damage will be too low to contest you 1v1 and will lose lane slowly. Also when you W towards her, there is a high chance she will E on you to dodge your chain, so hold your chain in this case.
Lissandra
Lissandra does not beat LeBlanc, but she is really good at neutralizing her in lane and later on in fights with her lockdown cc. The matchup 1v1 is a lot about you using your W outside of her W range to get a chain angle. If she cant respond with her W snare in her trades then she will always lose the trade. Her CC is super annoying so its a rare matchup where mercs are kind of neccessary, especially if enemy has other forms of cc aswell or AP damage.
Lux
Lux early game is strong enough to fight LeBlanc 1v1 but she obviously dies to ganks easily. After 6 you cant punish this champ in lane 1v1 so it just becomes boring waveclearing which is fine, since Lux is not a scaling champ. Watch out for her traps after lvl6. She will usually hide in fog of war and look for long range bursts to instakill you or win lane so be ready to react.
Malzahar
Malzahar is similar to Lissandra, but he does not neutralize her in lane. Qss is recommended but you can also play to avoid him later on. In lane you will win 1v1 into him but after 6 you have to respect him hard if there is a chance that his jungler is mid. If you are sure that you are 1v1 mid, you can trade recklessly. You also win 1v1 hard pre 6.
Neeko
Neeko is a lane bully and her Q is a very hard spell to dodge but since leblanc is also strong in lane they usually go even against each other. Try to bait her Qs out even tho its hard and dont give her an E angle through minions since it will snare you for half a decade. Never leave your guard down vs neeko mid/late game since she can turn into minions and if auto pilot you will lose the game in a heartbeat. Cool trick vs neeko is to always hold tab as the waves meet and if her icon appears visible on the scoreboard, then she is somewhere on the wave transformed as a minion or a teammate. You can also count the minions :)
Orianna
Try to not lose push into this matchup (unless you and your jungler want to gank her lvl2/3). If you lose push into ori lvl1 she will poke you with QW as you go for CS and it will hurt badly. You will always win short trades into her but extending them vs orianna is a bad idea since her spells will come back up faster and she has really deadly autoattacks. When you are on cooldown you have to space away from her Q until spells are back up.
Qiyana
LeBlanc is really good into Qiyana in the laning phase. The matchup is a lot about abusing her early if she doesnt take tp and doran shield (most qiyanas dont do this). The mechanic interactions are also very LeBlanc favoured, since you can reveal her in her Grass mark, you have a free chain hit on her if she uses her E on you and you can use your W snap back to avoid her E+Q damage. Never position near a wall where she can do her flash ult burst combo on you. Or if you do, anticipate the combo and react to it since she is useless after she wastes her combo.
Ryze
Ryze is a historical answer to LeBlanc and still does fine into her 1v1. He gets quite tanky very early into the laning phase with roa and trading with him gets hard and he just shoves waves into you. Your counterplay to ryze is punish him early since he usually starts sapphire crystal or tear and takes phase rush so he is not that strong in fist fighting. Other than that you can always kill him with your jungler even if he is too tanky for you.
Sylas
LeBlanc does well into sylas in lane, but sylas has really high HP and MR per level scaling so he becomes super stat-checky. This doesnt mean that he will always outscale you because his scaling will still depend on what ults he can steal from your teammates. Sylas will always take your last used ability as his LB ult so keep in mind which ult he took from you and play accordingly to that.
Syndra
Similar to ahri matchup, it is a lot about avoiding syndra E cancelling your W. Do not do obvious W-s where she can cancel it and win the trade hard but rather wait for her to waste her E. You can also use your W sidways and look for Q+E trades. Always give yourself options to dodge her spells with your W and RW snapbacks and keep in mind that she becomes way stronger in lane when she reaches 40 splinters (usually lvl7 or lvl8)
Annie
A very hard champ to fight 1v1. Best advice vs Annie is buying null magic mantle early laning phase because her burst is hard to avoid and she will eventually use it for poke. Keep in mind that she has super long attack range so you have to space further than her Q range when going for cs lvl1-3.
Taliyah
Taliyah is quite overbuffed in the early game and has strong trades if she goes early game runes. Its important to punish her in the early few levels by playing around her Q cd and dodging the big rocks she gets from the Q circle. If you dont punish early, she will eventually shove waves into you and have free roams.
Talon
Its a very straight forward matchup. Even tho talon has highest lvl1 mr in the game, he still struggles vs mages as long as they play around his kit accordingly. Do not get hit by both parts of his W and keep in mind his flash combo which has insane burst. If you react to it and avoid it he is quite useless.
Tristana
1v1 Tristana has a very good kit to match LeBlanc in the laning phase and with fleet + vamp scepter she just becomes a scaling machine with infinite sustain and you cant punish her alone. Ganking her is also not very easy since she has jump and R knockback. Your counterplay is to respond to her W defensively and look to trade on her with W if you are close to your tower, since she cant jump on you near tower. Also look to bait her bomb out and then stay out of auto range until the bomb explodes and then you can look to trade aggressively. Learn the pattern of responding to her jump by jumping away with your W and kiting her E when its on you and you should be ready to beat bad tristanas atleast.
Twisted Fate
Twisted fate is not a strong champion in the laning phase but he can also just clear waves from a very far away and he does not mind going down 20-30cs in lane, since the champs functions the same whether hes ahead or not and just goldcards you and your teammates once in fights and you are dead. He is very simple to beat in lane by just fist fighting him but it is still a bad matchup because of how the champ works after lane.
Veigar
LeBlanc is much stronger than veigar in the laning phase so beating him in lane is very simple. Just keep in mind that he can still cheese you with kills early on because of his R and if you do mess up once, he will take over the game.
Vex
Vex is considered as the number 1 LeBlanc counter but as LeBlanc you have ways to play around this matchup. Trading pattern is similar to Lissandra, where you want to not W into her W range since that will make you insta lose the trade. Instead play with Chain + Q and use your snap back to dodge her E and Q. When trading autos with her after you used your W, make sure to snap back after her autoattack hits so you avoid her passive bonus damage vs mobility. Also focus on dodging her E and Q, her skillshots are not that hard to dodge.
Viktor
Viktor functions similar to Hwei, because he can also bully you in the laning phase. Matchup will feel hard pre first base so look to go even with early game setup and then after lvl6 you can do burst trades into him and he cant answer much into them. His E is sadly an undodgable spell and its up to him to miss it so if you dont get help in this matchup very early on it can become very brutal with him spamming laser on you so request help early on from your jungler since viktor will die to ganks easily.
Vladimir
Unless Vladimir messes up early on, this matchup is very hopeless for LeBlanc. After lvl7 vlad sustain becomes way too much to deal with so if he does not mess up early, your only play is to roam and hope early fights happen so you can influence them because vladimir will probably just sit mid and farm. He outscales you 1v1 very early into the game and is practically ungankable if he just uses W to avoid your chain.
Yasuo
Similar to irelia, yasuo has to play very aggressive if he wants to beat LeBlanc 1v1. This leaves him very vulnerable to ganks and punishing LeBlanc in lane as yasuo is already hard enough 1v1 cuz she is too mobile. He is still higher Threat than Irelia since his Kit does better into LeBlanc cuz of Windwall. Make sure to have good trigger discipline and patience vs yasuo because he will usually use his windwall very early in trades. At lvl6 you can play with your dashes well to keep distance from his high mobility and keep in mind that he is not as hard to fight when there are no minions to dash to nearby. Make sure to respect his lethal tempo and not commit to an all in too soon.
Yone
Unlike yasuo, yone does not have really good tools to trade into LeBlanc so he gets bullied in the laning phase. Make sure to bait out his Ws and not trade into them since his W shield is very strong early game. Also dont overcommit to all-ins too early because of lethal tempo. Keep in mind that he can cleanse your chain root with his E reactivation so dont get caught off guard by this mechanic.
Zed
Unlike other assassins, zed has a bit more counterplay into LeBlancs kit. He has a lot of blinks and can also go untargettable and he react to your trades defensively by using his WEQ combo backwards when you go in. Keep in mind that zed has a lot of counterplay to your kit and dont treat trading patters like you would with Qiyana and Talon. You have to be way more cautious vs this champ 1v1. Instead try to be one step ahead of his outplay. Always keep some form of counterplay on your side like keeping your chain for when he uses his R or being ready to flash the triple shuriken combo or avoid them with another one of your own dashes/blinks. A very effective trick vs bad zed players is running away with your dashes when he ults as you get into range so you basically trade ults but his ult is way more important.
Zoe
Playing vs Zoe can feel very RNG because of her W. Make sure to never get hit by her E since she will nuke your HP. If she is playing ignite, respect her all in potential since she can kill you very easily at any point in the lane. She is very vulnerable once her E is down so you will always win the trades unless she has a strong W spell ready.
Lee Sin
Lee sin is your best friend jungler. Both of your champions like to get stuff done in the early game and you both can go in and out of fights.
Jarvan IV
Another very flexible champion that likes to gank and punish immobile champions together with LeBlanc
Rek'Sai
Good synergy with leblanc since she has very potent ganks, but the champion is not as flexible compared to Lee Sin and Jarvan
Xin Zhao
As long as you play LeBlanc with an AD jungler that likes to gank early and is opressive to play against once they start snowballing, they will have decent synergy together.
Rakan
Super strong Support for LeBlanc and in general. Compliments her theme of being able to go in and out really well and has really strong roam power and mobility like her.
Pyke
Another support that has similar gameplan to leblanc and together they can really take over games early. Not as strong of a synergy as rakan since pyke is way harder to make work and does not scale at all.
Soraka
Really good synergy if you are in a game where you have to carry. Soraka heals will allow you to constantly go in and out and trade HP so she can heal you up.
Nami
She will sustain you less than Soraka, but will give you a massive damage buff with her E and mandate. Most deadly LeBlanc combo for damage output.
Yuumi
Yuumi is quite overnerfed (deserved) and she will usually have the "best friend" effect on your adc so she usually wont be on you. Still very good synergy together if you do get the "best friend" passive.
Milio
Millio works same way as nami for LeBlanc but his buffs are quite weaker for her since she does not utilize his range buff.
Evelynn
Pairing LeBlanc with other AP damage on team will result in Defeat screen. She has terrible synergy with other AP damage sources since you will both have to suffer vs MR stack.
Shen
*Champion Unrelated* Since LeBlanc likes to play to either burst or not start a teamfight, its important to pair her with other champions that have these theme or can adapt to them. Playing LeBlanc with low damage and low wave clear in the comp will result into the defeat screen later on, since she cant waveclear without putting herself in danger with W and she will not help much when it comes to killing the frontline, so you need some high damage ADC or bruiser to deal with that.
