You have better early, once he gets enough levels on his Q and a full item, his CDRs are really low and outrades you very hard. Take ignite and run him down before this happens!
Ahri
MID: She pokes you, your only chance is to bait her charm and catch her, after lvl 6 she will just R away and will become impossible to catch. Play with your jungler and try to get the other lanes ahead.
She falls off harder than you.
Akali
The difficult here is that you can't auto her while she is in the smoke and has more range to poke you, the good part is that she has to get close to you, E her before W so she gets the true damage.
Akshan
Ranged matchup, it's easier to catch him in top than mid, take fleet and try to keep up with farm. TP and look for chances. He can negate an ace with his cancer passive, ward an ping MIA when he leaves lane.
Anivia
She can't really kill you in lane, but it's a nightmare, you won't be able to catch her if she has 2 functioning braincells, and even if you are able, you still have to deal with the egg. On top of that she scales better so take tp and wait for a chance in another lane.
Annie
You can take conqueror here since she doesn't poke that hard before she gets luden, just wait until she doesn't have the stun charged and her E up, if you catch her without flash she is dead.
Aurelion Sol
He is annoying with his breath poke and the black hole will slow you enough to let him escape your E range, and even if you get him, he will W out, play for ganks.
If you bait inside a bush and engage with R, save your E for when he tries to W out.
Azir
Annoying as ****, scales better, play for ganks and farm. If he engages, usually will be a gank with R and he will end behind you, usually this lets him between you and the tower, so you can R him under tower and either kill him or at least escape the gank
Cassiopeia
Unplayable, she will poke the **** out of you and you will never catch her, even farming under tower will be an ordeal with her Q-E range. There is no much to be said, fleet, doran's shield, TP and play for your team.
Camille
She can kite your W easily unless you stun her with your E, so I just go with the 1v1 build. You can kill her early, but after she buys Divine sunderer she becomes really dangerous.
Cho'Gath
Take Letal tempo and run him down the first levels. You can wait in a bush lvl 1 and force his flash. Buy boots on the first back to kite his Q and harass him before he gets bramble. If you R him into a TF you will deal massive damage.
Darius
Skill matchup. He gets the upperhand in the first levels, but you are more useful than him in teamfights. Short trade him until he is low and then all in him, if he tries to Q in the edge, E him so you pull him towards you.
Try to save your W to soak his R true damage.
Dr. Mundo
He scales better and it's tankier later on, he also moves faster and the anti cc shield makes him even harder to catch. You can go SB and BoRK but it's not worth it, play for teamfights and try to make a good ultimate with his big HP pool.
If you kill him pre 6, buying an executioner blade as first back can be very useful.
Fiora
1v1 build and beat the living **** out of her, usually she will save her W for your W damage so take advantage of it, (good fioras will kite your W with her Q and parry your E or even your R so don't make it obvious what you intent) watch out your vitals, if you walk out of her vision the vital mark changes so have that in mind. Staying against a wall makes harder for her to trigger that mark.
Gangplank
Weak early but can carry a game if you let him scale, max W. He can free himself from your R with orange but you still do the AoE damage, you can break his barrels easily with your right punch range. After you get ult, he will have to choice between orange'd your E or the showstopper so play with that in mind and he has 0 mobility to dodge your W. He out scales you really hard, but that's true for almost everyone and he becomes even more squishy too so try to snowball the game before that happens or let the trouble to your fellow assassin if there is one.
Garen
Go 1v1 build and try to commit with a full trade or he will run away and heal back to full hp, his passive is better than yours in this matter. Once you kill him twice, he becomes everyone's *****.
Gnar
Ganar is Gnar, tanky when needed, does %hp every 3 marks and can punish you really hard from distance.
Also he is more useful in teamfights.
Fleet, doran shield and wait for ganks/look for opportunities in other lanes with TP
Gragas
Becomes really annoying once he gets enough CDR, he starts to spam skills like if it were an URF game. Conqueror and default build, really punishable if he fails E.
Gwen
1v1 build destroys her, If you both commit early, she wins the extended trade, and don't underestimate her R potential. She can negate your W damage with her W.
Heimerdinger
Cancer, his turrets deal a lot of damage if he lands a skill on you and a good Heimer main will be impossible to catch.
Ask for ganks and ult him away from the turrets. Fleet, shield and TP.
Illaoi
Straight up ******** champion if you don't know how she works.
First of all, if she fails E, you can trade and win, buy bramble since she heals a lot with her W and If she ults, have in mind that the tentacles from her R will spawn slightly closer to you so ult her in the opposite direction from where she was facing or you will land and still be in range.
Even if she is 0 8 she can still solo kill you, so never underestimate her.
Irelia
Meh matchup, but if she kills you twice it's over. Try to dodge her E with your Q movement speed, if she begins to dance between minions you can E stun and short trade her. You should have the upper hand here in laning phase, rush bramble if she rushes ruined king.
Don't use W if she has Q up/there are minions around to jump.
Jax
Skill matchup, he can short trade you and Q away, use W before he stuns you so he gets the true damage in return and tank his empowered auto. Later on he will destroy you 1v1 even with the 1v1 build, so play for teamfights and watch out for his split potential.
Jayce
Annoying, hard to catch and can punish you really hard. On the good side he falls off and you can still be useful in TF. You can go for the kill in lane just watch out for his meele dps form, save your E for when he jumps on you and once you get SB it becomes even more easier.
K'Sante
Too much dashes but easy to kite, buy Black cleaver since it not only reduces his armor, but also reduces his damage since he scales from resistances. Don't underestimate him in his ult form.
Kayle
Take ignite and run her down, if she scales she 1v9s the game.
Watch out for her R, it can really turn around a trade.
Kennen
Almost impossible to catch, your only chance is during a gank where he will likely engage to ult and stun you.
He can't do anything without ult later.
Kled
Confusing champion, first of all his Q goes through minions but it's kiteable, if he has his empowered autos on CD you can short trade him and win.
When he dismounts he negates any extra damage you could have made to scar so save your W for after he dismounts and if you ult him in this form, the damage calculates from his HP pool+scar HP pool so he takes a lot of damage.
Lillia
Hard to catch, she has better extended trades since her CDs are lower, more range and she is one of the fastest champions in the game.
Stick with short trades and all in once she is low. She has enough durability and ms to disengage if the trade isn't favorable for her.
LeBlanc
She can't kill you and you can't catch her. It's a farming lane, you can push lane faster so use this advantage to roam and capitalize on the jungle.
If she starts building statik, go for steel caps.
In teamfights she is trash.
Katarina
If she engages you can beat the **** out of her. You can cancel her ult with R and E, the only downside is that she can easily dash out your W so play around basic attacks (1v1 build or even go with the youmu forbidden technology)
Lissandra
Cringe, she can set up really good ganks and disengage with one button.
In teamfights she has better engage than you and she can harass you from distance.
The advantage here is that she can't really kill you without help or unless you monumentally **** up a play.
Lux
Hell. Hard to engage she deals a lot of damage and snowballs harder.
If you manage to catch her is a guaranteed kill / forced flash.
Rush boots to kite her skill shots more easy.
Malphite
Meh matchup, you should punish him before he goes back for a bramble/steelcap. Don't underestimate his damage. BC makes this matchup a lot easier.
Malzahar
He will poke you out of lane if you aren't careful. Fleet+shield and farm.
If playing mid ward river and play around his R threat and a possible gank.
Maokai
Heals a lot and has a lot of cc, meaning that later he will be more useful than you, luckily no one plays this champion. Stacks a lot of HP so you can use him as a tactical nuke,
If he goes AP most of his damage comes from liandrys passive and his seeds so avoid bushes and you should be fine even if you don't build any MR.
Mordekaiser
You have to kill him early. It's easy to kite if you know how to move. Once he gets 6 he will win the extended trade, and even if he is below 50% hp, in his ult he can make the difference.
In TF, morde is very obvious about who is going to ult (the jungler if is an objective contest or your carry) if he is walking towards your most valuable player, ult him away before he takes him to Brazil.
Naafiri
She shouldn't be able to kill you early, but don't under estimate her, you can use her dogs to stun her with E, and if she burst you with her full combo she will likely end in front of you with a full grit bar ready to nuke her.
Nasus
Punish him early, deny farm, If he tries to walk up beat the **** out of him. 2 things to consider here is that his slow makes you unable to auto him since it also takes away atk speed and that after lvl 9 he will likely be able to outrade you If you are even. 1v1 build and grievous wounds helps a lot here, but he will become a monster if you let him farm. If you are able to kill him early and get a lead go for Heart steel and farm stacks with him, later on you may be able to have a chance no mater how many stacks he has since your W will do like 2k of true damage.
Neeko
This champ is what riot's 200 years of collective experience looks like. Learn to count waves, ping MIA if you don't have vision of her, ward and don't trust anyone. Other than that, she does a lot of damage if you don't know how to kite, so it's up to you and your confidence if you take fleet or not. If she wastes W and you pick the right clone she is dead.
Olaf
Meh matchup, but he can snowball you hard and can easily run you down if you **** up a trade. Just short trade him until he is around 50% HP and all in him. Try to kill him before 6 and remember that he can free of your R with his.
Ornn
Ornn is broken, if you aren't careful, he can easily short trade you and run away without you being able to give some damage back, on top of that he can stay in lane and build steelcaps while you can't use your gold, try to kill him early and put all your effort into kiting.
Pantheon
The baker is a powerhouse in early game so have that in mind. Builded correctly he can adapt into long games and still be useful. Also spaghetti code made his E one of the most OP skills in League of legends, it's inmune to ALL damage that comes from the DIRECTION HE IS FACING, meaning that boomerang skills like Ahri's or Akshan's Qs won't deal damage from the back, and things like karthus ult, yone and zed marks won't deal damage If he is facing them.
You can cancel his W stun if E correctly, and then follow with a full trade.
Poppy
Annoying but winnable, punish her early and get a lead before she buys steelcaps or bramble, don't let her poke you without dealing some damage back.
Qiyana
Deals a lot of damage and can poke you from a safe distance, but that means that you can charge grit quickly and if you catch her you can take a chunk of her HP as well. Buy boots to kite and ping when she leaves lane.
Quinn
Fleet and shield, don't let her poke for free and only walk up if W is up. You can brute force this with youmu technology but I have won this with the standard build multiple times. After 6, ping MIA even if she went to base.
Rek'Sai
Only played against this on top a few times during a patch where she was meta there.
Heals a lot when she goes underground and her trades are really good specially if she knocks you up, don't let her stack much holes. After she ults she spawns behind you so use this to R her under tower or to predict with your W.
Renekton
Our biggest counter, if he has rage don't even try to walk up. He is the king here, he can break your W shield and dash through it, he can short trade you and disengage without leaving an opportunity to counter attack and taking away a chunk of your HP, your best card here is to bait his second E, then you can trade back some damage, buy steelcaps as soon as you can.
If for some reason you were able to get a lead 1v1 build can make it easier to snowball, don't try to finish him off if he has R because he will win.
Riven
Depends on the Riven, if she can do the fast Q combo she will stun combo and dash away before you can react, if he is bad she will **** up her combo multiple times giving you openings to trade her. She can be hard to W, so try to E her first or wait for her to waste her E.
Sett
Sett's biggest issues are his W cooldown and how predictable he is, both of you will save your W to Soak up damage from the other's W so you should play around basic attacks. Also he will probably ult you after dealing some damage, meaning that you will charge some grit, remember that he will land behind you so try to surprise him with a W.
1v1 build and the rest depends on you.
Shen
A good shen will safely trade with you and even kill you before lvl 6 if you don't respect him. You can take TP and try to follow him when he ults or rush Titanic hydra and take turret plates since his wave clear sucks.
Singed
****ing cancer, is too fast to catch and the poison will **** your health bar, just try to keep the wave on your side of the map and farm, if he walks up and tries to throw you behind, you can either E immediately and ult him under tower or E and W before he gets away.
If he proxy farms don't even bother unless your jg helps.
Sion
E cancels his Q cast, you can run him down and kill him multiple times and he will still come back and try to permapush the lane. Stacks a lot of HP so he is a nuke into the back lane.
Sylas
Meh matchup, just take ignite for his W health and kite his E, if you catch him early you can kill him in an all in.
Syndra
You can't engage, she will Q from distance and scale. If she has her disengage skill down and you catch her, she is dead.
Tahm Kench
Hard to kill and deals a fair amount of damage. Same as malp, kill before he builds armor, 1v1 build can help, don't underestimate his damage and watch out for ganks.
Taliyah
Has a really punishing kit for you. Stay behind your wave and don't let her shove you. She has priority in lane and can roam in an instant so play with your jungler. If you kite her knockup and manage to catch, guaranteed kill
Talon
Realistically he can only kill you before the first back, he as to lower your HP before doing an all in. A smart Talon will shove and roam, so ping river and try to keep up with the push. Like Naafiri, if he tries to full combo you, he ends in front of you with your grit bar full. I have found that the red ward helps a lot when he goes invisible.
Teemo
Hard to catch, the blind ****s you up and he can punish you from distance.
If you catch him he is dead. Buy revealer after 6 to kite the mushrooms, especially if you try to engage.
Youmu if you really want to make him pay for his crimes, but standard should work fine.
Trundle
Becomes really nasty post 6 due to his armor steal ult, run away if he does that. Other than that if you are really having a bad time go steelcaps. He becomes a split machine so if you aren't sure about killing him early better take TP instead of ignite.
Tryndamere
Same as Trundle to be honest, but really punishable early on, after 6 he can go 0 3 and run you down if you aren't careful. Take ignite for kill pressure and be aware of where he is pushing once the turret plates fall.
Better go standard build.
Urgot
Annoying as **** and can chunk a lot of HP if you aren't careful with his E. If he fails his W, you can all in him. Go steelcaps and play around his W CD and passive direction.
Veigar
If you catch him he is dead, but good luck with that, kiting his kit inside the jail isn't enough, he will eventually out scale you. If your jungler doesn't help you, try to roam but that's all you can do.
Vel'Koz
Like syndra but worse, a good velkoz will violate you in lane forcing you to give up a lot of CS. Your only chance is your jungler, he is really squishy and punishable once you get close to him.
Vex
Like lissandra, but she actually does damage. Unplayable for you if she has hands, she can push better, roam better, has more range and forces you to build resistances. The only good thing here is that she isn't that good in teamfights and is squishy, if she ults someone you can ult her away from your carries and kill her with your team help
Viktor
Punishable early, but after his first item it's like night and day, he starts to take away a lot of your HP. Build mr boots and let him shove, his roams are **** and is really gankeable.
Vladimir
Meh, hard to catch but very punishable early, just play around his sanguine pool cooldown and better build MR instead of Grievous. Don't underestimate his damage in a 2v2 in laning phase.
Volibear
Another masterpiece form riot's 200 years of collective experience.
There is no much to be said, he out trades you and his CDRs rotations are lower, build bramble, go standard and play for your team.
Warwick
His Q deals a lot of damage and heals a lot, grievous is a must. If you both commit he will kill you, so try to play around his mana early on. His E reduces damage and if timed correctly, he can negate cc with the reactivation, so don't ult him if he is in that state, and remember that your W true damage ignores any kind of resistance or dmg reduction.
Wukong
Macaco stacks armor every second he fights you so try to go for short trades. Watch out for his clone and where do you aim your W, other that it's a skill matchup. If he is low and is running away, try to determine where he teleported and ult the clone, I have gotten a few kills with that.
Yasuo
If you deny him early he will be your 0 11 yasuo later, but don't under estimate his 1v1 early, try to stun him before W. He is easy to catch and his wind wall doesn't block your W.
Yone
Yone is better than yasuo, has better engage and is slightly stronger later, early on you can kill him lvl 3, don't commit with a lvl 1 all in because letal tempo and his Q.
Most Yone will stack 3rd Q, E and look for a short trade, if you kite it, punish him and see if you can walk towards his real body to all in him, but don't let him auto for free. If you try to W he will E back so have that in mind. Later his 1v1 becomes better than yours unless you are turbofeed.
Yorick
Cringe, if he kills you he will shove your lane under your inhib, if you roam he will get a tower, if you breath he will take down another tower. Don't fight him with maiden, try to take her down first or low her HP before going all in.
Without maiden you can run him down just look to kite his jail.
Zed
Pretty much like talon and Naafiri, you can negate his R with your W, if he wastes his shadows you can try to catch him. If he doesn't get a kill in lane you win. If your carry is feed, better save your R for peel.
Ziggs
Fleet and shield, ask for jungle help, build boots to help with the kiting.
Squishy but hard to catch.
Zoe
Same as Ziggs but worse, deals even more damage and a good Zoe will poke you, shove and roam.
Yuumi
Self explanatory.
Taric
You can still charge grit when you are invulnerable.
Shen

Heyo my name is K4T4N4, peaked platinum these two splits and im trying to go for diamond playing mainly Sett (yes i play Sett top, mid and sup). I started playing Sett a lot this year and the first thing that came to my mind was, how im supposed to learn what does every champion and how to win against them? Like in spirit blossom Sett lore, he travels far and wide in the spirit realm challenging foes while looking for his father. We can relate to him, having more than 150 different champions to deal with trying to go as far as our skills allows us to peak. This is what pushed me to make this record of every champion i have faced with Sett so far so new Sett mains can have a better idea of what to do. I have the intention to keep filling this guide as i keep fighting new foes in my way to higher ranks and actualize it the more i climb and the more i experience.
Why Sett?
Sett is a powerhouse in early game, tanky while still deals massive damage who can easily turn a 1v2 to his favor and has a reliable engage into the enemy backlane. His pasive allows him to regen hp when he is low making hard to poke out of lane and his design and playstyle are pure testosterone. Sounds pretty good right? but not everything is color pink. First of all if you dont know how to properly kite you wont get his full potential, he has long cds and after you use your W you lose a lot of presure, also has one if not the slowest basic movement speed in the game making easy to kite and hard for him to engage and stick to enemies with dashes. He is also very obvious about what he intends, charge grit, W and deal true damage, try and R the enemy with the highest hp pool, etc.
On the good side his teamfight potential is huge and can turn the tables in one if played correctly, always useful in 5v5 situations.
If you have the time look and read what everyone of his skills do, but in general, Sett´s passive gives him hp regen per hp lost and his second auto attack has slightly more range and deals more damage, useful for poke someone when they try to farm.
His Q empowers his 2 next auto atacks, deals hp percent that scales of AD and gives you a little bit of extra MS towards enemies. It resets auto attack animation but its ideal to Auto-Auto-Q-Auto-Auto to maximize dps.
His W deals true damage in the center and ad in the sides, the damage calculates on how much grit you have (in english, how much damage have you stored, Sett glows when you have stored a lot) and scales of AD and HP. You can Flash in the middle of your W and i highly recommend to master this mechanical reaction, it had gave me more kills than i can count.
E pulls enemies towards you in a rectangular area, you can extend the reach if you hit it diagonally with the corners, it slows a little and if you hit a target from both sides they will be stunned for a second.
R serves as an engage tool and as an escape, if you get ganked from behind you can ult towards safety. It suppreses enemies meaning that they can only get away with stuff like QSS or GP orange and it interrupt skills like Samira´s R. There is no much to be said, you can insec someone with E stun, Q movement speed to get behind them and R towards your team, and slows everyone in range for 99% ms so it basically immobilize them. The shockwave damage escales of the one you ulted extra HP.
Idea of what to expect
In most matchups, early you will look for a kill if possible, Sett´s 1v1 potential in the first 3 levels is huge, farm and punish with your second auto if the other laner walks up to farm, if he miss steps E stun him and try to force him to trade or run. If you get prio in lane help with scuttle contest, it can lead to a double kill sometimes! If you get first blood, shove and recall to spend gold, if you shove but dont get a kill, and your jungler wont contest that scuttle, go back for a cheater recall and buy boots.
In those rare scenarios where you will get harassed in early, just farm and try to priorize meele and cannon creeps, let the wave push towards you and politely ask your jungler if it would be possible a gank.
You will get a power spike after stride breaker or ruined king, keep that in mind.
After plates fall keep trying to take down top if you havent already and be aware of timers, after the second drake you should start to group with your team to contest the 3rd drake or, in lower elos, in case a teamfight starts in mid.
In teamfights you should learn to read the situation, if your win condition is to make the 9 0 vayne kill everyone, try and use your R to peel, if the win condition is to pick up the 9 0 enemy vayne, R into the backlane and see if you can catch her so your team burst her down.
Finally in longer games, your chances to carry decreases with every extra minute to the point where it will not depend on you anymore, sure you can engage and be useful but this is where hyper carries begin to shine and if your team isnt that good in late, you could throw away the whole game.
Dont be dissapointed with yourself if you get feed and lose, not every game is meant to be won, you will eventually climb if you keep playing good consistently, dont flame or expect others to do what you tell them, sure you can just ask them to stop dying, give some advice or try to make a call, but if they answer aggresively, report them and the game will mute them for you. After every game think, what could i have done better? where i can improve? Something that have helped me a lot with league mentality was to read the Art of War from Sun Tsu, its amazing how a lot of aspects of the book can be found in league, like the 5 things a good general should have in mind, when to be avoid a strong enemy and when to act weak, when to harass and when to defend, what is up to you and what depends from the context/environment/enemy, etc.
Also there are a few streamers that had teached me a lot about league and sett, like xPetu with macro, Autolykus with Sett and Kerios allowed me to learn what every champ does. Hope this helps anyone, and feel free to share some insights about certain matchups/builds!
